I've never been to Brazil but it's worked perfectly for me in Colombia, DR, and Mexico. Just wondering if I'm being too optimistic. It lists Brazil as full coverage.

I think it adds $10 or $15 to your bill each month. But if you travel frequently like I do, it's a great deal.

You can get a sim for 10 to 20 reais without CPF, activated at Central metro / train / bus station on av pres vargas in Centro.

For $70 a month you get unlimited calls, text and data worldwide. I've hopped to 8 countries so far this year from South America to Europe to AP and it works like a champ. Couldn't be more pleased. And you can downgrade to the 40/ month plan any time you are not traveling if you plan ahead.

But some of the local banks don't read my card. Can't get cash right now. The card is fine because I still use it in supermarkets and restaurants without any problems.

And is there any electronic way to pay girls in case cash can't be obtained? I know everyone in Brazil has that app but I'm not Brazilian and can't use it I suppose. My bank account is US.

You just have to walk around and use what works. An ATM that works right now may not work 5 minutes from now. Then how in god's good name does one withdrawal cash here in Rio? Does Google Pay or Samsung Pay work? Because my card is not co operating with me. Or the chip is damaged and the machines won't read it (which I doubt because everywhere I use the tap card option to pay and it works perfectly)?

Get cash. Girls love cash because electronic money and the trail it creates messes up all sorts of things like tax and welfare-like benefits, and you should also be careful not to leave breadcrumbs as general good advice. Charles Schwab and Capital One are reliable, but ATM's are a bit of crapshoot in Rio, try the business districts or Barra.

I have a local account with Banco Itaú Unibanco S. A (100% time it works), but I also use Butterfield bank in Bermuda and HSBC and have zero problems. A variety of cards is always good backup for nomads.
