1994 or was it 95
I first went to Pat Pong in the early 90's and was just amazed. As a young lad, I had been to the Kings Cross strip shows in my country with full on-stage fucking action, but the sleaziness of Pat Pong was on another level. Me and a mate went to the usual ping pong ball, cigarette, razor blade and banana shows. When the young lady shot out the banana from her pussy, me mate just picked it up and ate it as if that was a perfectly normal thing to do. As a young man on his first overseas mongering tour, I was just stunned.
I think I was in the bar that night as I vividly recall a punter eating a banana after it had been violently catapulted across the room. My first real expose to Sleazy fun was also in Patpong. Climbing the stairs to The Kangaroo Club I had no idea what was in store for me. The first thing I saw on that steamy rain soaked day when I walked through the door was a fellow monger sitting on a bar stool with his white jeans down around his ankles and a true professional getting to work on him. From memory this was before lunchtime. Every girl in that tiny bar was available for pipe cleaning services and all had smiles on their faces. You could get the service whilst sitting at the bar, they had small doors cut out at the front of the bar or you could go to some side room and have a curtain drawn. I sat at the bar and had a few beers whilst getting sucked off long and slow whilst having a conversation with an American about The Super Bowl as he was reading from the newspaper sports section whilst have his tube snake charmed. This bar was dirty, filthy, stinking, beautiful. I miss those times.

Why does everything end up being about the 1990's?
I have a saying in real life. If a person talks about what they did in the 80's and 90's it means they have no life / aren't getting enough now. They're living in the past. Hate to guess that's the case for guys who continuously talk about the 90's on ISG too.
For the life of me I still don't understand the beer bar concept where a guy buys a girl a drink and she remains behind the bar. Why would a guy buy a girl a drink with no DFK and mutual groping?
I agree 100%. I want a return on my investment so I expect kissing, mutual fondling and the perception that if I pull the trigger on a bar fine that I will be fucked senseless.

There, an LD buys you the right to interview a girl to check if she's on her period. That's about it. No fondling or DFK ever!!
I think you guys would hate AC!
But, love Manila! Burgos Bars are very hands on and almost everything else too. I have had up to 3 girls blowing me at the same time in more than one Burgos bar and that was just for the audition.

We'the won the Cold War, but the crazies in smaller countries and extremist organizations hadn't yet become a reality. One can have a very satisfying present yet yearn for what has passed.
Why does everything end up being about the 1990's?
Its simple. One's early experiences are formative. Guys don't like it when the whole ballgame changes. We keep looking for things similar to the old days. Many posters particularly focus on the large inflation for price of bar girls, with many causes I guess. Bargirls were once one of the cheapest ways to monger and get a girl for the whole night.
Other guys will tell me the 70's and 80's were far better than the 90's. Ha ha. I was here is 83 briefly but restricted with a wife in tow. So I could not really appreciate it, other than I managed to find out how exciting a nude Thai girl could be, but could not communicate at all.
Guys that grew up in the Rock music era, will prefer Rock music forever.
Some aspects of change are really irritating to some of us, however we accept it and move on, still looking for girls that are like the old days' girls. A hell of a lot of fun.
Some of us move from having two or 3 fuck sessions per day (in our more crazy early days), to having quality girls but far less often. I still aim for 2 or 3 girls if visit an FKK in Europe, but visit much less often. In Thailand there is no rush. If we don't find a great girl, we can go without. There is nothing wrong with endless repeats of a set of trusted good performing hot girls (we can look forward to getting the same as what we got before).
We can change. Long ago I did a lot of Soapy sessions (no Oilies), but rarely do Soapies any more. It must have changed too much for me, or just not convenient. Some good Soapy venues closed or declined too much. Everything was great before prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra but that is long ago. In his era, many girls were cleaned out for one reason or another, not being a native Thai citizen, was just one reason. Girls had to have valid ID showing a suitable age too. The bad economy times hurt the business badly too.
When I was 35 I was very much a preferred customer I think (even in the Thermae ha ha). I recognise that this is not the case anymore. More like a difficult customer now. We have to face facts. Live has things other than fucking and playing up with young girls.
If one had a time machine, I think old guys would much prefer to travel to the past rather then the future. The Future might be horrible. Ha ha. See German TV Series "Dark" re time travel (it is suspenseful) but future looked not so nice. We know very well what the past was like.
I am lucky my Mrs has a hot body and still very appealing to me sexually, and I get more than I used to. So I tend to need less mongering. In the 90's, she was just a skinny kid. I could wish I met her a few years earlier, perhaps in 1999 when she was just 20. Is it a rare thing, to not get bored with sex with the Mrs (as yet) after 14 years?

I remember 2016 in Pattaya. What a fantastic year that was. 2015 was not as good. Ahhhh 2016. Let's all reminisce about 2016!
What I was doing in the late 90's blew away anything Thailand has to offer but not once in all my posts have I ever mentioned it. Why? Because it was 20 years ago and absolutely irrelevant to the current hobbying scene.

So I can't really agree that the past was so much better, the biggest change for me is that 2006 I thought Thailand was the best, now I know there are better places if comparing bare bone basics but nevertheless Thailand still has certain attractions that makes it worth the effort. The biggest change for me is that 2006 etc white men were treated as gods, now they are relegated to second place and I'm sure that is what irks the old old days men more than the prices and looks of the girls.

Do people see what they want to see? Looking back comes in many forms every day on forums as this one people talk endlessly about their recent trip isn't the same, the place they had a ball the last time isn't the same this time, and of course the prices, it is all looking back just like the years looking back brings you to what you want for the future?

I have nothing against descriptions of days gone by. Various ISG members have posted many excellent historical perspectives and descriptive reports that deserve to be read by interested persons, but these posts tend to clog up the current threads which should be about what is happening on the ground NOW. Thus there should be a separate thread for new posts of an historical nature concerning bar scenes, massage parlors, nightclubs, street pick ups, Thermae (LOL), girls, prices, and all other reminiscences older than say 13 months because the posts focused on the past are not topical. So, I feel that the Pattaya or BKK reports threads, for example, should contain current Pattaya and BKK reports not what Pattaya or BKK was like 5, 10, or 25 years ago and editorials about how much better it was back when. Of course it was better in the 70's. A lot better, but that is not news although it may be interesting to read and talk about. And the same same goes for the Phuket reports, Massage reports sections ect ect.
So, my suggestion is that all new posts in these topical threads should ALL be on current information going back no further than 13 months. The historical minded posts and descriptions should be posted in their own "Thailand Years Gone by Thread." Of course this is only my opinion. but I think this suggestion would clean up the threads and make it easier for members to find the relevant information that they seek. A win win for everybody.

I'm so happy for you in regards to blowing Thailand away in the 90's. Good for you. Your choice.
After 25 years of mongering in this country I can honestly say Khob Khun Krup for the oh so magical memories and I so look forward to the next 25 years.
I know I'm going have a goooood time and the memories will stay with me forever, because when one is clapped out and unable rise from one's sick bed that's all one will have.
Now go out and plough a brown hole or three.
