Sosua Reports

A few quick questions for you Sue vets out there as I am planning my first trip:

1. For 7 or 8 days how much change of clothing should I pack?

2. Are shorts / cargo pants good for the night in the clubs?

3. I hear that the street girls are mostly hardened pros, what are the chances of GFE from the SW? Any difference between the street girls and those that you pick up in the club?

4. Is BBBJ common or do you negotiate this up front?

5. I am into slender, skinny girls, I see some videos and DR girls are very thick (those on the street in the Sue), what's the likelihood of finding slender girls in Sosua?

6. In the club do the girls like to hang out and drink with you or is it all "lets get down to business"?

7. I also like very black girls and understand that there are a number of Haitian's in the Sue now, any recent reports?

You will have the time of your life.

1. Shorts are the preferred dress everywhere.

2. The street girls come in all flavors and just like burger king you can have it your way. If you are paying they will do what ever you want. Shacking up with a customer is a dream cone true for them.

3. bbj are very common but not guaranteed. I usually assume and most go along with the plan but it is not a deal breaker for me.

4. There are scores of slender girls especially the Haitians and they are dark. You are going to over whelmed.

5. The hard core girls are anxious to get back to your room. I do not like pushy dersperate girls. They tend to be problems in the room.

Cash is king and you will be the boss. So act like the boss. Choose the women you want to be with not the ones throwing themselves at you. The slender babes are not in high demand so they will be thrilled by your attention. They will give you a great time. In the clubs watch how the girls interact. If they are with other girls not a good sign. See how she is dressed. Too sleazy not good. I am older and like GFE when posible. Sosua has awesome sport fucking and the girls are used to being turned out as soon as the guy comes. However kind words and tenderness can result in some GFE when you repeat. Most girls only get a few guys a week and are thrilled if you repeat. If you find some one you click with hang on to her for while.

I've been to Sosua 4 times so I know what I am getting into, although it has been several years since I was there. On my last trip I remember walking the main strip several times a day to have somewhere to go. I did a few tours with some minor exploring into local barrios. The girls were responsive to me in a good way. Love Dominican Music Etc.

My concern with doing a multi city trip without having a base would be booking lodging arrangements during the high season. I hate to pre book anything due to cancellation penalties and extending myself too far in advance.

Have food prices gone up in the restaurants? I'd have around $125 per day for food, pfp, tours.

Oakie also makes some good points.[/QUOTE]$125 is OK for food ($40), p4 p ($60) and the rest for transportation, but organized tours will cost more ($50 half of day, $75 full day and $125 some full days where there is fishing or motorized tour or a speed boat, these are rough estimates) You can organize your February around Sundays. February is a Carnival month. All the schedules are usually posted closer to that date. You can hit Puerto Plata, Santo Domingo (East) including Boca Chica and end the month in Santiago DLC. Add some baseball, cockfighting, Super Bowl on the first Sunday etc and you are set up.

2). Never shorts at night unless you like being dinner for the mosquitoes.

3). If you want GFE spend the first couple days setting it up. You might try the bar waitresses that you have to take for a day trip to Cabarette or maybe a taxi ride to the surrounding towns to get something special. The girls on the stroll in Sosua are mainly quick hits at night and like to sleep during the day but it's possible.

4). Being you are new and they know you are new, it's probably best to negotiate everything up front to prevent getting caught in the newbie hustle if she is hardcore.

5). Sosua is what it is because if the variety. Enough said.

6). Ok, here is where your style probably will dictate how the evening goes. Before you commit to a night of spending money on drinks, clubbing and partying put them on your time. Meaning don't let them dictate the pace. The girl who is content taking things at your pace and makes the evening about you is the one worthy of a GFE investment.

7). You got competition bro, the white Euro guys also love the black cherry. Being she is in Sosua she is probably in demand so maybe a short trip outside of Sosua will garner a worthy prize with less mileage and real GFE.

You might feel out of place in a club late at night with cargo shorts and sandals (unless there's a crowd of you), The Golden Rule of Travel is dress appropriately and watch what the locals are wearing.

I'm getting old and spoiled. For me a true GFE includes at least one or more of a haircut, manicure, pedicure and laundry! Most DR girls fortunately are brought up with life skills, not academic diplomas, unlike NA and European women.

I am considering New Garden for my hotel. How is the internet connection at New Garden and others as I need to bring my laptop and catch up from time to time?

Reading other posts I am bringing $200. A day which should be more than enough for me as I am a one and done type of guy for the day.

Thanks for your comments about mosquitoes as I am a magnet for them and need to bring repellent. Are the mosquitoes in the hotel room? If so I may have a problem.

TTM.[/QUOTE]I'll leave you the good hands of OldKool and Mr GoGo, and the other vets to give you excellent info on most of your queries, as my budget varies widely from zero to probably too much, and because I have never actually stayed at New Garden / Europa / and Alicia the hotel formerly know as Prince, but heard only good things about them!

But having your sandaled feet stepped on by one of the DR's more robust chicas in her stiletto heels in Classico, can be messy, so shoes, please!

I don't recall seeing a mosquito down there in my 9 years but they seem to have a lot of mosquito borne diseases down there, so maybe they think the gringo Canadian has been bitten enough up there!

And, others may disagree, but I never met anybody who didn't appreciate a small gift, especially the ladies, but they will of course require cash for services rendered!

[/QUOTE]I have never stayed at New Garden but I am a frequent visitor (daily) to their restaurant. The restaurant is kind of attached to the lobby area, quite large and seats 30/40 people, I would hazard. The restaurant itself, and not only the hotel, has its internet connection as well that the diners can use and is very good. I have no doubt that the hotel guests have equal quality access.

The food is the excellent, I mean it is the best Italian restaurant in town and when I say Italian, I do not mean Olive Garden Italian. The Chef and part owner of the restaurant is Gian Luca and so food is high quality. A very good quality or high end meal there is priced at 500-800 pesos with something fancy like churrasco. Of course, if you order wine and similar, it is going to go up, which will impact budget. Indeed the most expensive piece, outside of Hotel and women is your drinking habit. Personally, I may have a beer or a glass of wine. Not every day or a glass of scotch, again not every day so my budget runs a lot lower than your planned 200 but it is always good to have a cushion.

Enjoy Sosua. It is a good place to enjoy female company without worries and especially if you have the right attitude as others mentioned.

I've lived with locals and seen chickens in the houses, I've seen black cockroaches as big a mice, but things that actually bother me in Canada, like house flies or mosquitos and even bees, I just haven't been aware of. I leave my supply of repellent at home.

I've been a target of sand flies in Florida, noseeums in the Bahamas, armies of the small cockroaches in Barbados, visited by rats in New York City!, even iguanas in Key West and Mexico, and of course there are harmless ghekkos everywhere.

If you read the whole post you will see I specifically acknowledge the problem with mosquito borne diseases down there, and I've posted over the years how my local hosts typically have mosquito netting around the baby's bed, even in the smallest shacks. I also specifically speculated that maybe I am unique in this regard, and speculated on why I am not bothered either on the beach, in my room, or out in town in the evenings.

Why not post something useful as an alternate explanation, other than I am delusional? Give us your experience. Just another cheap ad hominem attack adds nothing to our knowledge base! What you call my "rosy view" may simply be what the other other posters below refer to as "the right attitude"? A positive outlook!

People are rightly concerned about local disease carriers, and those of us who may be contemplating settling permanently in the DR need all opinions. For me it's a major plus that local insects are not a nuisance to me, I thrive on the food, and aside from picking up the odd Gripe in the old days from my GF, the only complaint I have about the DR, is the stifling heat!

My DR "wife"!

I def recommend bring deep woods off with you, a couple cans. I get bit every time I go. But the last few years I guess my body has gotten used to it. Every time I get bit, I swell up, but not so much anymore. But every person I've gone down with gets bit a swells up, everyone LOL. My first time in sd I had to go to the er 3 times for the bug bites. Some people get it really bad. I was sitting in a car in the after noon one day in sd and felt my thumb get bit. I saw the bit mark but no bug. I could see my thumb instantly swell up. You most likely will never see what bits you. Through my experience deep woods works best but other people say it doesn't work for them. But def bring bug spray.

We had survey crews cutting line the Canadian Bush and every Canadian knows what that is like. Black fly and mosquitoes so thick that they can chase you indoors. We supplied them with strong repellent, but everyone swore by a cream for ladies called "Skin So Soft! When I first heard of these hardened woodsmen asking for this stuff I thought they were joking, but any Canadian who has been up there knows what I am talking about.

Maybe I am immune to mosquito bites, I never swell up when I'm bit up there, but that doesn't explain why I don't ever recall getting bit in the DR. Maybe they just don't like me.

Anybody else like that?

Yes I have been hospitalized in Colombia for such swelling and was in pain for 3 weeks after with oozing and bloody bites on my arms and legs when I dozed off in a car for a few hours in mid day a few hours outside of Medellin Colombia about 6 years ago. I learned my lesson! I will stock up on the Jungle Juice.
