Nobody bothers with meters, they're only for transport department decoration & tourists..
I do ... and I find that with a little polite prompting, most will turn them on. If they refuse, I won't use that cab. A metered journey invariably work out cheaper and the drivers know this.
Good advice HSBC is even very helpful if ur offshore & need an account set up in Manila!
Trouble with HSBC is that, heavily hit in the banking meltdown, in the last year they have closed a good few of their Philippine branches, so if you bank with them and don’t live in Makati, you might have a long trip to your nearest branch.
They're just doing their job dude....
Yes .. but do they have to follow you round like a shadow. Or when you say that you want to buy something, always say the same thing which is 'Only one'.
As in: Me: I'd like to buy that microwave oven.
Them: Only one, sir?
Me: No, I want a dozen. I collect microwave ovens.
Them: ????
, definitely move to higher ground, it gets real wet real fast on those crappy streets
Has anyone encountered the plank men when the streets of Manila are flooded, which is often? They turn up with their planks with which they form miniature bridges over the most flooded parts of the road. They then sit back and charge 1 peso toll fee to all pedestrians who use their bridges. You have to admire them for their business acumen and initiative.

Manila is a play boy town, but with all its errors, girls in plenty, i would suggest for balance, Cebu wins hands down.

Mexico monger
How much effort do I have to put in to do what I did in Mexico, pick up freelancers? You say you may not mean to offend on the one hand yet on the other you are effectively calling some of the members here liars. It may be hard for you to believe, just as it would have been for me a few years ago. Why don't you give it a try next time you are here, you can always post a retraction or apology once you have found out the truth. Mind you if you walk around with the attitude that the girls are sluts as you have mentioned in your post, then you probably won't have much luck at all

There is no place in the Philippines with good air quality. The jeepneys belch out diesel fumes just about everywhere you go. And then there are the volcanoes erupting and spewing ash into the atmosphere. Even in AC, you'll have breathing problems on a windy day -- Pinatubo ash.
Of course if you have volcanoes, you also have earthquakes and the threat of tsunami.
Climate. Hot and humid and then floods.
Housing is cheap, but you have to pay everything up front and sometimes they'll rip you off.
Don't listen to Mortman...Filipinas are good Catholics. Taking them to morning mass seems to impress them. You might even get to hold their hand when no one is looking.

Can anyone who has been to these places rank them in terms of air quality, relative climate, housing costs and ease of freelance pickup/putout?
Thanks for any good feedback.

Mostly I have been a long time Mexico monger.
Being not bad looking, I usually had no trouble picking up women right of the street with a simple: Quiesera una muchacha por me cuarto por una hora.
But as I have gotten older the prices have gone up and it is not as easy to attract the right attention from the right women.
Now I am seriously looking at living in the Phil. I do not have the income or job to be going back and forth, so it is more a matter of where to settle.
Seems to me from what I have read that the ONLY really CHEAP place for bar sex in the Philippines is Angeles. But since I don't do bars much anyways, it is more relevant to me how accessible the non-pros or part time pros are, or just the sluts ;-)
The barfines I have seen from other places, CDO, Bacolod are outrageous-P3500 for example. What a joke. That is more than most
filipinas pay for rent in a month.

Also I am thinking of living there for some time and found this list of best cities to live in the Phil:

I have had some doozies, just don't need to tell the whole world. WHy are you ineterested in living here all of a sudden and looks like a bit negative already?
What happened to Mexico? Did it dry up? Just a couple questions for you and then I would greatly appreciate giving you some good advice.
Peace out!

Rooster, I sit here with a big smile on my face. About 15 years ago I was back in my hometown (a rare occurence) hanging with some boyhood friends. Someone asked, "how many women have you laid in your life?"
Tony, the guy with good looks and two stunning sisters said, "Fourteen or fifteen". He smirked and the guys all looked impressed. Everyone believed him, after all, he was dating a nurse when he was still in high school.
The others all responded with some number less than ten. Then they looked at me.
Well, not wanting to sound like a braggard, I cut my number by about 50% and said, "Fifty or sixty". Their response was, "LIAR", and they hooted and hollered and laughed.
I countered with, "I had three in one day in the Philppines." They didn't believe me.
Of course most were bought and paid for, but even in the midst of the Olongapo debauchery of 1980 I remember pulling a freebie -- a feisty 90lb hotel security guard.
And here I am, still telling lies thirty years later. :-)

Picture: Intercourse about five hours after meeting face to face. Or, maybe I'm a liar!

The quick closes are with free-lancers hanging out in the mall. What's not to believe? They are looking for johns in certain malls and johns find them there.

mall exprncs
I was not believing the easy freelancer scores in phils.
But last year I told to my self what the f. Ck lets try it. And I tried it.
Generally speaking people here tell their experiences which ends in success. But in order to reach it you have to have many trials. (fundamentals of statistics)
If you get the sparkling from the girl then go and make your move.
Then ask for her address. Generally speaking they live in outer skirts of the city which is far from the shopping malls.
Then invite her to dinner and drink some wine to cool things down.
Afterwards tell her that you won't let her go to her place that day due to 1- it is raining heavily 2- it is too late for a girl to walk alone.
Pretend as if a gentleman who is not looking for an easy shot.
If the girl accepts your offer or even not rejects (pretending confused). Tell her you are gentleman and she doesn't have to worry about what will happen at the hotel room. Tell her you just want her to stay in your room otherwise you will be nervous.
At this point 80% of girls accepts your offer. Generally very few accepts at first offer as they don't want to look as cheap girl.
Both of you know what both are looking for. You look for pussy and she looks for a financial supporter and she knows the pathway.
After you head to your hotel room you get in to the same bed (never book a 2 bed room) the rest is pretty easy.

They must have been desperate to think I am that desperate, I am old, fat, ugly, smelly, balding dwarf with bad breath, no hair no teeth and chronic BO but was in better shape than any of them lol.
Yes you can get very unlucky in under an hour if you so choose.

closing time
I think the fastest I ever closed was in Cebu. Met a girl as I walked by a coffee shop, she was reading the paper, I smiled, said hello, and she smiled back.
Roughly 45-1 hour later we were in my hotel room.
And roughly 45min-1 hour later I was finished.
Total time outlay was about 2 hours, and this was 3 in the afternoon.
True story.
Forgot about another time when i was in Manila hanging out at the hotel pool and three girls were hanging around giggling and playing and laughing.
Said one of the workers was a friend and let them in to play in the pool from time to time.
Within 30 minutes all were in my hotel room and within another 30 I fucked one girl while the other two watched.
No money exchanged hands during either experience, unless you count drinks and food at the pool and room service.

Hope to be in Cebu in less than 30 days, with stops in Tokyo and maybe Singapore on the way, AC shortly thereafter. November should be fun!

Fast food girls
Fast food joints offer a rich vein of possibilities as well for those with a little more time and patience. Look for the serving wench that you fancy and frequent her establishment/queue line as often as possible. She will quickly recognise you and you will start (if she is up for it) to get an extra wide smile, more attention and maybe a few extra french fries with your order! I have little business cards printed with my first name and CP No and the message ‘Be my text mate’. Be surreptitious when you pass her this card as she would not want her fellow workers to know.
Fast food girls are poorly paid and on limited contracts so are often up for a little extra cash/excitement in their lives.
It does work, I can assure you. I have had success at Jolibees, KFC and Starbucks using this method.
Only trouble is all the shit lunches and bitter coffee that you have to endure:D.
