I did not say that the mother has immediate rights to citizenship. Far from it.
The child automatically gets citizenship and the passport. The mother gets access via visa as the primary carer for the child. I do not know the specific title of the visa, but it works.
If the mother in in country for long enough, she may apply for permanent residency, and eventually citizenship. But you are talking five years or so.

I have not personally done it but when I went to U.S. embassy in Manila
To add pages in my Passport there was a brochure.
Reading that it says if you have a child out of wedlock you have to register the child with the embassy. No mention is made about the child's mother.
They will get the Paternity tests done. It says if the Paternity is proved
you are liable for the child support even if the child is not in U.S.
By registering you accept the child as your own and are responsible totally for the childcare expenses including medical. I take it by this the mother can legally approach the U.S. embassy for child support payments. i do not know how U.S. embassy can pursue this. I guess they can trace through the I.R.S.
They can process the claim for the child to enter U.S. But again no mention was made about the mother.
The child has upto the age of 23 to claim Citizenship and come to U.S. once the registration is done.
If you think you are the father you have upto the child's age of 16 years to file to register.
If any of you deadbeat dads are out there take notice.
Sending money is one way of making sure the child and the mother live well.

The minor child of a US citizen can have their petition denied if the petitioning party makes a misrepresentation in the application. There may be other grounds for denial as well.

That's why there are immigration attorneys. Get a well referred one. If the father or mother cannot find a reputable immigration attorney in the Philippines (and I can only count two that I know of) the road for child and mom becomes much more bumpy. Thre are many very good immigration attorneys here in the USA. Now if I wanted to bring somebody into the USA
would I hire a pinoy attorney or an American attorney? You get what you pay for. And no, nothing is automatic with the child or mom.

Just returned from a four day stay in A/C and one in Ermita which I will report on in the Manila thread. It was my first time in A/C but not my last.
I have done a little mongering in China, Thailand, Central America, etc. I arrived directly into Clark on Air Asia from K/L. Took the 300p taxi to Swiss Chalet.
