Regarding logistics, Rua San Jose 35 is the centro bus station with a luxury a / see bus (2338) to Barra for 20 r if you don't live in a condo with a shuttle, which I do not (eg, mediterraneo, riviera, novo leblon, barra bali). Literally goes straight to Paris Cafe, and Recreio. The city bus is 315. The BRT line on av das americas goes to metro jardim oceanico.

Now, I know, for most mongers who read this, this is a non starter.

Crowded beach, people think if they hear something enough times, it must be true. Till you see it in person you find out. I'll post photos later.
