Pattaya is a huge tourist destination but a lot of the Thais there, like the beach mafia, are the scum of the earth. To me, this is a clear case of murder, aggravated assault etc. Having seen such punches there in the past by the same sort of flotsam, I give Pattaya a pass.

I give it an 85% likelihood. We will never know for sure because the people involved are not talking and the case is closed. Assuming it was a bar tab disagreement and the deceased left the bar without paying or only partially paying the tab real of padded, he made a big mistake and paid for it with his life thanks to a "lucky" punch to his head.

I must have run up 5,000 bar tabs in my life, maybe more. Who's counting and I can only remember 5 or 6 times when I was sure I was getting cheated. What does one do in such a situation? You can dispute the bill all you want. Sometimes you will win and the tab will be reduced. Other times you are out of luck. You can call the cops, but that will not do any good. The only solution as far as I am concerned is to just pay the tab and make a mental note never to go to that bar again. Walking out is only going to get you a fight with 1 maybe 2 or 3 bouncers. Its 1 in a million you wind up dead, but its guaranteed you ain't walking away without a beat down, I don't care how fit you think you are.

This reminds of an incident in BKK 4 or 5 years ago. A farang got into a fight with a taxi driver and exited the taxi. The taxi driver picked up a machete lying in the trunk of his car and hacked the guy to death. What were they fighting over? 300 baht? This is my point: Don't fight with the locals. Period. These type of incidents are rare, but who the fuck needs them or wants to go to the hospital. You can dispute the amount charged and possibly reduce the rip off, but at a certain point you have to know when to give in. Getting back to the recent incident: I don't think it is a case of murder or aggravated assault, it appears to me to be a case of involuntary manslaughter. "Involuntary manslaughter often refers to unintentional homicide from criminally negligent or reckless conduct."

But if the testimony showed that the victim threw the 1st punch then the bouncer has no criminal liability whatsoever. It is just a very tragic incident that in all probability could have & should have been avoided by the deceased. I wouldn't let this story affect my travel plans to Pattaya. I have never had any altercation even remotely approaching the lowest level of violence in any Pattaya bar in all my visits going back over 20 years. It just doesn't happen unless you think you are Robert De Niro or somebody. "You talking to me?"

Even in mall you see couples and for sure they are not bar girls.

I know very well the difference between bar girls and regular girl so I just curious. Of course in Pattaya it's all about the money but some Non Pro need a sponsor or something. So question remain how.

Do not pay much attention to the signage. The Thais particularly mix upstairs for downstairs. Just go upstairs and the tall beautiful amazing Thai ladies will ensure that you leave with a smile.
