Thanks to all you replied to my request, there are not many options but I have no choice as I am flying in from Ft Lauderdale to CTG, then onto Santa Marta, then Santa Marta to Medellin on Avianca, been lucky in Medellin with Legite Massage Parlours I corrupted to Hand Job HEAVEN, HEHHEHHE.
Will report on my findings when I arrive on the 26th of the month.

I don't think a self-respecting costeno would even go to a MP. I think MP are for business people who wanna get in and get out. Costenos are NEVER in a hurry they'd rather spend the afternoon chatting the girl up before they start doing anything. Anyway, there is a CASA called Chica linda Bar its very close to castellana mall. I've been there and for 40,000 peosos I got a pretty good girl for BBBJ, FS i didn't bother with HJ. It's not such a bad place it gets busy at night but interestingly from noon on its open. WHen I've been there at noon they went and woke up the girls to come see me. Beer was cheap. If you like casas it definitely doesnt gouge you like Pleyboy Club because its a locals place. The avenida pedro de heredia which runs in front of the mall Castellana keeps on going a block or so to a big trafic circle called La Bomba el Amparo the first right is the caretera troncal occidente this road travels from the trafic circle to a barrio called los carcoles its on this road on the north side about 100 meters from the trafic circle. If a Hand Job is really all your after if your apartment is close to the beach almost any massage girl will give you a happy ending if you ask her and assure her just that no sex.

Just booked trip via Spirit Air to Cartegena Sept 4-Sept 10.
I'm 48, though by luck of good genes look no more than 35 & have kept myself in good shape, have very rudimentary spanish skills but will practice prior to trip I look Dominican but am an American with a mixed race background.
Has anyone stayed at the Hotel IBATAMA in the Bogagrande area supposed to be a few blocks from LDV?. I tried making a reservation at Hotel Las Velas, but was quoted like $150 US.
I welcome all advice for trip & possible hanging out in Cartagena.

QH, if you take a little time to read this forum, you will easily discover that the best way to go is to get an apartment in Laguito or Bocagrande, as opposed to a hotel. I'll be there for almost a week when you arrive, my 3rd time in CTG, so if you want to hook up and have a beer, PM me.
But, by all means, read, read, read this forum. Go back 1-2 years worth of posts and you will be greatly rewarded. Also check out tsm travel, rich in CTG info, but this is the best place I've found.

But I rather doubt that I would fight the traffic all the way across town to get laid. However, if I happen to be out that way, I may stop in. Both Exito and the big mall are out there.

I was there October 12-24, 2007. The weather was perfect.
There was three hours of rain during the day our second day there,
But after that all of the daytimes were blue sky & sunshine most of the day.
I could look out in the morning and see some rain had fallen in the night.
The temperture was from 88F – 90F every day which I love.
The Chart for October says it rains 240mm/9.6 Inches.
That would average out to .3” per day.
It must have rained like holy hell before we got there & after we left.
Or 2007 was far below the norm. I love droughts.
But, January-March states 0.00mm of rain.
Guessing the weather is always a crap shoot.
The second chart states Cartagena has 300 days of sunshine a year. Yes!!

I was in Cartagena for all of October from 2003 to 2006. In general October is the worst month of the year, and 2005 was particularly bad.

1. Does it tend to be very rainy the first week of November? Is it worth going there at that time? Anybody been there November?
2. Does anyone know where one can rent an apartment that is close to the beach for about five days or so?

One thing about early November. November 11 is independence day in Colombia, and Cartagena can be busy. There are some advantages and disadvantages that go with that, but it really should not slow you down too much.

Lodging will be less available and maybe a bit more costly. If you don't like crowds, you may not be happy. Conversely, the parades, parties, and pageant events can be fun.
