I haven't been here for a year and on Saturday when I arrived I noticed Rumbas was closed. In the evening when all the Chicas came pouring into town they were all out on the streets.
This was really nice for a change as you could just hang out by the intersection by Premium Plaza and the chicas were basically lined up and strolling up and down the streets versus inside Rumbas with the music and dim lighting. One chica told me the owner hadn't paid their taxes and was closed down which sounded peculiar
That's a good take on the scene right now!
But the bar ownership and management in Sosua is a very complicated business, so the three main corner bars, D'Latin, Rumba and Bermuda are still closed!
I had a beer with the owner of most of the property that runs from Hotel Central and around the corner to the side street bars and pelequerias oppsite Rocky's.
I was curious about my long time favorite puta bar, Bermuda still nailed shut after all this time. He says the German guy sold the lease to an American a couple years ago. The American ran it for a few months then disappeared.
The rent was paid in advance to next January 15th, so if the guy dosn't show up with next year's rent, in January, the owner will be re-opening it!
The old staff are still working around that corner, so maybe the good old times will roll once again!
