You are truly a sour presence in this forum. You can find problems in a wet dream. Have a good day.
Funny you should say that. I was just thinking the same thing about your "I'm calling BS on you" response to that poster's trip report. Did it ever occur to you that you are exactly what you described?
Mr. Turgid simply entered into the fray of a long running debate that will never be resolved among the parties involved.
I personally don't give a fuck about what any of you think of Sosua (positive or negative). But, I know that my opinion of the place does not invalidate anyone else's experiences or opinions. Unfortunately, the parties on both sides don't get that. What I care about is 1) Sharing of factual information 2) Experiences of others. I really only care about opinions of people I know and trust. Put me in the positive camp. I've been to Sosua one time and I loved it. So that would make me a newbie to Sosua who had a good time. But I also haven't been back.
What baffles me is why people who like other places better insist on posting about it in this forum and claiming that anyone who happens to like Sosua has to be someone that has no experience elsewhere. From the posts that I have read it appears that perspective is dead wrong. But it's not the first time I read that particular reasoning being expressed here by the same individual. But I doubt that anyone in the critical crew will ever change the type of input they consistantly provide here.
It' s actually improved a lot here over the last year or so! A lot more polite! Still a bit scary for a newbie to post a positive report, without the piling on, but getting better!
Now we share the good and bad without the pathetic infantile name calling, and amateur psychanalisis that drove a lot of posters away!
JUst check the posts back a couple years. Scary!
Some of us are still enjoying Sosua even more, while a couple of the notable naysayers have moderated their tone!
That's good!
"Next level" Secret Cuba, PI, THAI, Rio, or even BC are not necessarily the promised land, after all, I'm told, They are coming back to Sosua, which is where a lot of current good stuff is happening. (Or at least this forum!)
Happy New Year!
I can say something positive about the meal I had in Sosua. I had a steak at terra linda and it was pretty decent considering where I was.
Not that steak is not good (and I have had Kobe and Matsusaka steaks in Japan, with a bowl of rice) but Sosua is great for its culinary variety. Walking a block, I can taste gourmet Austrian, French, or Italian cuisine, prepared by chefs from those respective countries, not to speak of quality desserts (Austrian and Italian in particular), great locally made but German quality sausages and imported german beer, and cuban / dominican cigars to go with a glass of grappa or single malt. In addition, there are some decent Dominican food (goat is one of my favorites) to be had as well. Given that I would have to fly many thousands of miles, to taste the genuine stuff which is waiting out there for me in Sosua, makes it an epicurean paradise for me, this side of the pond. Again, I love steaks but there are more to cuisine that comes alive in Sosua: in fact, I had Guinea fowl (oven roasted with olive oil and potatoes on the side, smelling great of rosemary sprigs) over the Christmas break in an Italian restaurant this last holiday period. Now that I have not had in 20 some years, and to me that made that six day trip very much a worthwhile one. Sorry, I got carried away. LOL.
I only like nice surprises!
I agree that getting contacts through your existing connections is the best way to go, which only gives you "nice" surprises. I have used it with women I know but at times it may bite back, as women tend to be protective of their territory. Now, I have also sent my contacts to people I trust, visiting the DR, which can be helpful. The women realize that I am trying to help them and they in turn may let their contact get in touch with me.
In general, I am a little leery of women in the bars of Sosua, a) because they are in that business and could be hardened, b) there might be surprises. My expectations are not met or vice versa and c) the risk of crime. Given that the DR is blessed with women many of whom are available thanks to the reasons cited by Pooter, it is entirely feasible to find "regular" women rather than banking on bars / discos and the likes which is what I think you do. I also like a modicum of make-believe world of intimacy rather than a flat out, "wham bam", LOL!

I thought in my long post I'd seperated the advice for the regular/resident, and the newbie who does not have our connections. He may not have time in a week or a weekend to find a "regular" woman.
There's a huge market for the casual SW, and I was trying to minimize his potential for unwelcome surprises!
I myself rely (almost) exclusively on local connections. I'm often asked to share my connections with the group, but these are friends of friends, some part timers who pick their spots, and at least one would be insuted to be passed around like meat. She thinks she is above that, Lol! But I did try to set someone up with one of my part timers a couple years ago, and it didn't work out, and I was left in the middle. W don't talk much anymore, Lol!

True That
Not to mention nature's awesome bounty in the form of mangoes, guava, avacados, tender coconut, papaya, sugar cane juice, coffee. The best stuff on earth at ridiculously low prices. Where else can you get an all you can eat lobster orgy for next to nothing?
I would include the old Jewish bakery with some of the most authentic baked goods, great ribs at Big D's. My cup runneth over!

Just My Thoughts
First, let me say I love Sosua, but maybe not for the same reasons. I do not post anymore because people have different experiences and no point telling my story and have some insecure person getting mad at you thinking you bragging or putting them down. Do not have time for it. I am the type of person who works hard. Not the smartest person in the world, but how I do well is I out work most people. I am competitive to myself. What does that mean. I learned Spanish by practicing everyday. I want to be able to communicate with the people I meet there and have a quality experience.
When I get off the plane. I am not afraid to rent a car. I am sorry not sitting on a bus going to Sosua. I might drive and stop off in Naqua if I see something popping off. When I go to Sosua I love staying in the villas and staying in a nice place. Sorry, not staying in a mediocre spot. I go for the chicks, but I like the chicks that take the buses in from La Vega and Santiago on Saturday and Sunday. I do not have to stand in the back because I cannot communicate and look out of place. I take care of myself in great shape and speak Spanish so I can mix it up with the families and hot chicks. Yes, I go to classico, but not for the chicks but as Gogo's girl who takes money at that door will tell you. I will walk in and request 10 songs in a row because I am in to music and the town knows how I roll. I never taken a chick out of classico because they are average at best. Go to jetset on a Monday night in santo domingo or Lovera Bar in Santiago or Eurphoria on a Friday night then you will see the difference in the quality chicks you can meet. Sorry no comparison. When you see the talent in there your opinion will change on chicks at classico. I have met chicks on the beach at Sosua from Santiago and have had them stay at my villa for a night and hang out. I want quality over quantity. I could care less how people feel about that my life not yours and no point for me debating you on it. Do you, but not flying all that way for an average experience. I want quality and not changing for no one.

Now that may not be you, but that's what we have to deal with here from time to time, and worse from amateur psychologists in long drawn our posts, who use very unprofessional language like "liar" and "ignorant".
Certainly not your Trip Advisor Review "discourse", Lol. (And I wouldn't come on with that attitude in certain bars I frequent)
And, bottom line, I believe that it is designed to keep positive reports on Sosua from being posted here. It certainly has that effect!
If you don't believe, just count the posters, new and old, who have complained about the same thing, and said they will never post here again.
My PM box is full of them!
For the record I did indicate in my post that "I had just returned from Sosua" It was right in the beginning of my post. The selective reading here by a few is mind boggling.
Yes you indicated / implied in your report that it reflected a recent visit. Even though I assumed correctly, I still addressed you leaving room for correction and clarification. That is a skill set lacking here in this forum with certain individuals. And then I gave my opinion of particulars (Christmas holiday etc) based on if your trip was recent.
However when I addressed the other poster, I was concerned more about how he attacked your perspective, instead of trying to understand it. At that point, WHEN your trip took place was irrelevant. Notice how he totally ignored my issue of how he addressed you, and instead focused on you not mentioning your dates. As if that had some sort of validation to how or why he responded to you. He knew he put his cyber foot in his mouth for doing that. Cause my thought is who gives a crap about what the dates are? WhyTF are you calling BS on another poster, for giving an opinion about what he experienced?
And for argument sake. He made a weak attempt at damage control by stating that "If you go to Sosua on Christmas Holiday you may have some issues. However please do act as if this is the norm. " Totally Red Herringed and Straw Manned his way into irrelevance. Nobody even argued about what the norms were or werent. So where did that come from? Moreover, if dates, time of season of someones trip were important, then he should have asked you when your dates were.
Thats what I meant before by good communication for understanding. He made himself look foolish by telling the board that you didn't provide dates. And yet he went all in calling you out on BS without even asking. Imma let you in on a little something. Your dates never mattered to him in the 1st place. As far as he was concerned, you attacked his paradise. And he was blinded by that. And you can see that it is true by how he claimed I can spoil a wet dream.
When you are dealing with people in a trance (child like), you can't reason with them. They are not going to see or acknowledge their mistakes or their own BS. They are only going to blame you for trying to wake them up and smell the coffee. They don't want both reality and fantasy, just the fantasy. Theyll create their own reality.
Leaving all of that aside, the value of your report and my initial response is this. For those that need to know, coming to Sosua on Christmas and New Years season may result in very few chicas / options around to hook up with. It is no secret that questions regarding what the scene is like on certain holidays has come up often. People want to know if going on Christmas / New Years or any other major holiday is a good idea. If having certain types of providers, (quality and quantity) around to select from is important to you, then the answer may be no. But that still has to be determined by the individual himself. For instance, if you rock with Haitianas there were plenty to go around. I noticed enough white dudes were snatching them up left and right. For the most part, whatever else Sosua has to offer is still on the table.

As a matter of fact, I remember when this website's owner went there. He stayed at a hotel that WAS PAYING HIM to advertise on this site. When he saw that the hotel had a hooker den attached that employed ladyboys he was disgusted and banned them from ever advertising on this site again. I don't think he has been back to Pattaya. Nobody took up arms to defend the beloved Pattaya, labeled him as a Pattaya hater, was bent out of shape, blew a gasket, called BS on him, or said that he is a ruiner of wet dreams.
