TRAI recommends introduction of CNAP service for caller name display
What are your thoughts on TRAI suggesting that all access service providers provide Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) supplementary service to their telephone subscribers upon their request?
Quoting from the news article:
[QUOTE]Feb 23, 2024, Press Trust of India (PTI), New Delhi
Trai on Friday recommended that Calling Name Presentation (CNAP) Supplementary Service be introduced in telecom network and that the service involving display of caller names on phones be offered by all telcos to subscribers on request - a move that is expected to curb spam.
The government should issue suitable instructions for making CNAP feature available in all devices sold in India after a suitable cut-off date, once recommendations are accepted, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) said.
While native smartphone tools and third-party apps like Truecaller and Bharat Caller ID & Anti-Spam also provide calling party name identification and spam identification facilities, these services are based on crowd-sourced data, which may not be reliable, TRAI noted in its recommendations.
"The subscriber entities holding bulk connections and business connections should be given the facility of presenting their 'preferred name' in place of the name appearing in the Customer Application Form (CAF)," Trai said in a release. This "preferred name", Trai explained, could be the "trademark name" registered with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, or the "trade name" registered with the GST Council, or any other unique name duly registered with the government. However, this is contingent on subscriber entity's ability to present the necessary documents to prove the ownership of such name.

The Astor vs The Park Kolkata
Hello Fellow Mongers.
Posting this on behalf of a friend who needs a feedback on these Park Street hotels The Astor & The Park. Which among these is a very couple friendly hotel without any hassles & unnecessary tensions. The Astor is cheaper but he says The Park even though price is on a higher side but it has a night club Tantra where he is thinking he will get a chance to meet young girls whom he can take them to his room. Please guide my friend which among these is a better option? Is the night club justified in paying extra money for the stay? Awaiting your response at the earliest.
Noobie wants some guidance
Absolute newbie here. Recently found this forum and went through the first page of this thread. Understandably everything was abbreviated and lots of code words. Went throught 11 more pages. Got even more confused with the overwhelming amount of information. So I just want to ask a few of my questions here. Please be kind enough to answer and help a new member of this community. (using the acronyms I have understood).
1. What are the acceptable rates of PM (FS included), through SP and indie now a days in the affordable to semi premium category.
2. Which of these is the safest option in terms of security? Are PMs raided by polices often or rarely?
3. How does one find indies since 95% of online profile are fake?
4. And what the hell is building 39? (Live a few hours from Kolkata and not well versed with the place).
Again, thanks everyone for sharing your FR. Great to have found you guys.
