Guys, slightly off topic, so I apologize. My friend has to go over to Juarez from interior USA, and has NO IDEA about how to go here/there, what to avoid, what streets to take to the doctor he has to see, etc. Could any of you guys possibly show him his way around? He would be a REALLY lost gringo wandering around Juarez.

I'm a new to the area gringo and although I speak some spanish, is it safe to walk to Luxxors and Siluetas or is it better to take a cab? I know the cabs are about 100 pesos or so. If you take a cab, is there a spot near the MPs to get dropped so you dobn't get upcharged when you get there? I've heard if you show up with a cabbie, you pay more. Last, any good places in EP to exchange for pesos or do you need to do that in Juarez? I can't use an ATM there, but need to change cash, no bank transactions.

Advice?

yeah I would agree. I tried dating several providers, and it never worked-out.

If you want to see her privately the monger has to pay for the hotel room, plus pay her 50 dollars or so just for coming. The total is more than double what you would pay at the MP.

One didn't show up at the hotel. One stole from me.

yeah I had a provider hit me up for the same thing--only she wanted 300 dollars for her kid's tuition.

It's o.k. to walk during the day staying on the main streets. You will pay more if you arrive in a cab. Viejo Oeste bar used to be a good place to be dropped off, but that got torched. If you take a cab, find an intersection beforehand on MapQuest to be dropped off at. If the cabbie thinks you're going to an MP, he may follow you around a bit. Many banks in El Paso will change cash. I find it more convenient in Juarez.

Against Pimelonman's advice, I went into the new club where the Sleepy Iguana used to be, half way between the gym and San Souci. There was plenty of parking, and no rag men trying to extort protection money for the car. As soon as I got there, some girls next door to the bar invited me up to the room. There was no Hollywood sign, but I did recognize a couple of waiters from the old Hollywood. Inside I didn't see any of the girls from the old Hollywood. There were only 2 that looked pretty good to me, but none of them were repulsive. Mostly 5-6s, but one 7 and one 8. Their attitudes were good; they were friendly and asked for drinks, but didn't push it. I got a lap dance from one without buying her a drink, so I tipped her 20 pesos. There are 2 dance floors inside, so they needed more than the 10 or so girls they had. There were no cholos inside, mostly working people.

Anyone been there yet? I drove by on a whim, during the day -- too chicken-shit to go in and leave my car out there. It is way the F out there; paved road ends a few yards to the west. Funny how Sunland Park is just a stone's throw away. Anyway, sign on window says it's a "Club Nocturnal", no indication whether it's a place to monger.

Some interesting reports here about this topic. Having mongered since the late '70s, I have dated a few of them. By and large, most of them are interested in the money only. Many of them want drug money, and also many of them are hooked up with some hombre. A few live on their own, and truly need the money for daily expenses.

I currently visit two ladies regularly. One of them tells me she lives with another guy, has for years, and the money is extra. Honest. The other lady lives with her now older kids, and hints at the two of us moving in together. Though she is excellent at her trade, this idea does not appeal to me..she can't cross into EP..and I don't care to live in Juarez.

It is definitely the exception that a provider is truly available for dating, looking to possibly settle down with a guy and get out of the profession..but they do exist. Hard to find, but not impossible.

One thing I have found about nearly all Mexican women..they will try to milk you out of every dollar or peso you have..for whatever..it's always an emergency..something new coming up, etc., just like the "$300 for my child's tuition."

Thanks for your input Freedom. Now I get a daily call from Jessica saying she is sorry for asking for the loan and wants to get together when I come to EP. I usually make this trip twice a month. Now I'm a little worry about getting set-up. From now on, I will solely stick to the MPs and the clubs.

Can anyone tell me if there is bus service (with bathrrom) to juarez from mexicali and how long the ride would take ?

I know you can get one direct from TJ but I wanted to stop off in mexicali for two days.

Since buses are the main mode of transportation, and you say there is a bus from TJ, then surely there must be one from Mexicali.

It'd be a little over 700 miles from Juarez to TJ. Take away about 110 miles (distance from TJ to Mexicali), you're talking about a 600 mile trip from Mexicali to Juarez. So probably close to 10 hours on the bus, just as ball-park figures.
