I talk to some friends who live in Rio full time, who take all the language classes, who have solid professional qualifications and military backgrounds, but who are getting gringoéthe by the locals. For example, just this past Friday a cat tells me that he is out with a local girl, buys her dinner at Guacamole, ubers her to some friend's event, and comes home at 5 AM, and she doesn't want to fuck. - I liked Curitiba: pretty, well-organized, interesting.

I will have to get hold of "The Double Death of Quincas Water-Bray. " It sounds good.

There is a mongering scene there that I had some fun with, but I have not returned to that city and have no plans to. Culture-rich Salvador, relaxing Florianopolis, and branca-filled Curitiba are all on my bucket list. I have to check off at least two of those during my next visit.
