Good advice
If this is your first time going you do not want to be so far away from the action. Seven minute cab ride can get frustrating after the first Chica. Simplify things and get a hotel on or near the main strip. The constant need of a cab can hinder you from enjoying your vacation and concentrate on what you came there for.
Good advice to the newbie Grownman. The cab ride will get tired real soon young man. You really should consider staying within walking distance your first time out and catch a cab to go exploring outside the booty walk. Have fun nonetheless!

Long time monger, usually go to CR or Colombia. This is our (me and wingman) first trip to DR.
We stay in condos, so we will look to see what we can find closer to ground zero.
Thanks again for the reply. We are planning for end of April.

RE: What happen?
This is crazy, you mean to say that you have it first hand that the whole strip of bars and restaurants and are gone from Cabarete beach? What on earth happen? From the pictures it looks like a natural disaster. Please advise if you have more information.
Sosua and Cabarete got swiped by a storm system that produced large waves. Full details here:

It always amuses me how newbies think they know better than guys who live here or have visited dozens of times.

How does someone asking if staying in Laguna beach is OK, since they have not been there and would like some advice from people who have visited, result in a "newbie thinking they know better than guys who live here or have visited dozens of times"?
I didn't ask the question because I thought I knew better, UH. If I thought I knew better, I wouldn't have asked.

Run by 5 or 6 "oldies" who know each other personally and use the forum as a personal message board.
They do not take kindly to alternate or positive views of that conflicts with their personal view of Sosua, and will tag team you out of here unless you show them proper "respect" by agreeing with them and joining their dick waving circle :)
They also deal in a lot of rumour mongering, because, some of them say, Sosua is such a "shit sandwich" they don't actually go there! They can argue for a year amongst themselves whether one of the biggest resaurants is open or closed, and it takes a newbie to post a "Closed" sign photo to shut them up!
Sosua is a great mongering destination, cheap, fun, lots of women avaliable, and if you know how to behave in a foreign country, you will find the locals more friendly helpful and a good deal safer than the the home cities of where these posters come from.
Over 5,000,000 visit the DR every year from North America, Europe, and South America, but you won't find them posting here.
Oh, and forget the latest rumours, the Restaurants on Sosua beach are all intact. They lost a lot of the sand out front, where they keep the sun lounge chairs but the main level restaurants are all in business, and the food and drink is as good as ever! There is still plenty of sand to enjoy!
Two small new beaches in town were actually created by the storm, and the Imbert and Alicia beaches grew in size!
And no, Rumba is not yet open but has already had an informal private opening party! This new version will be more of a resaurant than a bar, but a large outdoor deck gurantees at least a few ladies will be posting up there!
Go and have fun!
I love it so much, I now live here!

You have no idea how much I am looking forward to your continued "boots on the ground" man in the arena reports.
Although I think your analysis is spot on like a red dot laser sight, it's always good to have your counterbalancing views. I appreciate them.

A few questions 6.
Mr. O,
What does a ST & LT session with a girl cost (an average range is fine)?
Where do the Haitians hang out?
What does a beer cost you on Sosus beach?
I've reached out to others via PM but it appears I am not in the gang of 6 so my Sosua questions have been ignored.
Let's see if I get attacked as a newbie. I know my way around Santo Domingo (it's easy to get laid here, not hard) and Boca Chica. But it's been a while sense I've been to Sosua.

I unreservedly apologize for my post. It was completely out of order.
I did have a serious point to make (lightheartedly) but it came out wrong. I may pursue that point another day, but no point in pouring gasoline on the fire now.
I do try to help people with information, especially new posters, and encourage them to post their experiences good or bad.
If you show up at Hans' caseta on the Malecon in Puerto Plata one afternoon you are good for a meal and drinks on me.

You are quite justified in slating my stupid post in reply to Linyjo. I have apologized to him elsewhere.
However please do not associate me with the loose grouping of brothers with who you carry on a constant feud. I do not know them, and I have never (to my knowledge) ever met any of them. I cannot be bothered to read most of their long posts on the theory of mongering and I sometimes disagree with what I do read.
Generally, I have always been on your side (and Old Kool's side) in your defence of Sosua, although I do not see it as the faultless paradise that you do. If I did, I would not have chosen to live in Puerto Plata instead.
You have used my silly post to renew your obsessive vendetta with these guys. Please keep the issues separate. I thought we were friends.

I just don't like to see newbies run off the board by a couple of regulars denigrating simple newbie questions about Sosua!, whether inadvertant or not!
I left the forum, due to the prevailing theory that it was me who was fucking up the forum! I was the reason no one was was posting new Reports any more. That was the line they used to get me out of here!
I just checked in to get any new views on the storm damage, and noticed that the newbie reports weren't exactly pouring in, mostly gossip among the usual suspects, just more shit about of the demise of Sosua. Not a lot of good info for anyone contemplating a trip there. Then the newbie question that was asked honestly was laughed at!
I have nothing personally against anybody here, that would be foolish, because I don't know them and they don't know me, so that would be a waste of time and energy.
But as I said to our estemed Mr GoGo, if he gets in the crossfire, that's not my problem!
It took me half an hour to write this because my chica from PP insisted on coming to my place early and proceeded to clean up the place. She was was smiling, happy, and made coffee.
It is another beautiful day in Sosua!

You know I haven't heard from Oakley in a while and even though we had our differences he did put out a lot of good information. The first thing I did was apologize to the board for bringing drama. The next thing I did was reread what I said that spark our argument.
I said to myself if I can turn back the hands of times I would change my words to be less offensive. Something like, Mr. Oakley please do not include me in that what "they do game". I respect you as a senior member on this board and you give a lot of agreeable good information. Though I do know Mr. E personally I'm not talking about your personal attacks on him. He seems to find them comical as you guys jab back and forth. I personally do not like being categorized as "they" As if I'm in a click working against other people. I asked this respect fully.
I thought that maybe if I asked that it would have avoided us having an argument and the administrator stepping in between the both of us.
I thought you got a bad rap when the administrator had again stepped and threaten to Banned you from what seem to be a disagreement between you and Mr E.
When I saw that you had Resurface and posted something on the site I got excited. I was happy to see you back. And though I cannot read your post I logged out came in as a guest just read your post. I wanted to be the first to apologize And welcome you back openly.
It seems that Charles went the route that I wish I would have in asking you respectfully to not categorized him. Your response To his request tells me everything I needed to know on what would've happened had I ask more polite.

I love it so much, I now live here!
Glad to hear Sosua beach is still okay. Always a great beach. I have been to many but Sosua is one of my favorites. As you all know when Help Disco closed a lot of us cut Brazil loose. Thank goodness for Sosua. We have a nice spot on the beach with the local brothers catering to us. Great gals and an affordable place to be when it all comes down to it. The newbies need their shot too although we would like to keep our little secret. Help out when you feel the need to. Most of us have been around the block more than once, so let's support each with positive input. Like they say "it don't cost nothing to be nice". We need to keep this game going and that means treating everyone the way you want to be treated and keeping a positive slant on everything. If it don't fit or you don't agree there is a way work with it. I must admit that an apology is one the greatest things you can do. It shows that you have a conscious and are willing to correct your mistakes of which we all are guilty of. Making mistakes that is. So carry on and keep our dream alive. Do right in the DR just as you would anyplace else. Have fun!
Peace and love.
