Visa or Master Card, Discover?
Is one CC accepted more over the other one in BKK??
Visa or Master Card, Discover? Is one CC accepted more over the other one in BKK??
All the hotels I used accepted both Visa and MasterCard and American Express. I wouldn't know about Discover.
Restaurants geared more towards business or part of a chain accept credit cards as well. The really local restaurants do this far less if at all. But then again, these are so cheap (but still very good) that the handling cost of the credit card would be more expensive than the food.
The shops in the big shopping malls accept all kinds of credit cards.
On the average, Visa and MasterCard seem the credit cards that are most accepted.
Visa or Master Card, Discover? Is one CC accepted more over the other one in BKK??
Discover is pretty much unknown outside US. A few years ago Visa had a big push to have customer use it over MC. Amex is only at a (relatively) few high end places.
Visa or Master Card, Discover? Is one CC accepted more over the other one in BKK??
From the Discover Card website: Discover cards are currently accepted in multiple countries around the world through the Discover Network and our Network partnerships: China Union Pay, JCB, Diners Club International. They even have a Country Acceptance Map that includes Thailand.

However, the map states that JCB is Japan Only and China Union Pay is Mainland China Only. That only leaves Diners Club network for Thailand. There are ATM's that accept Diners Club cards in Bangkok according to their site:
Visa or Master Card, Discover?
Is one CC accepted more over the other one in BKK??
I haven't had any problem with Visa or Master Card in Bangkok. I haven't tried Discover and don't use AMEX there owing to their 2. 7 percent foreign currency conversion fee (which they have recently removed from their Delta branded card, however). I tend to use Chase cards or Capital One cards owing to their lack of foreign currency conversion fees although it is possible some, but a minority, of the Chase CC's still assess this.
One issue that I have not yet experienced in Bangkok, but have very occasionally in Indonesia, is some stores only accept credit cards that have smart chips embedded in them. I suspect this may become a growing trend in Asia so if you have a credit card with a smart chip it would be worth carrying that as backup if not your primary card. But as above, this has not yet been an issue for me in Bangkok although I wouldn't be shocked if at some point it becomes one.

Some merchants and in particular automated kiosks will only take cards with chips though. A number of issuers are putting chips on their cards now though so it's not hard to find one just make sure you get one without the foreign exchange fees as well. Citi Hilton Reserve would be a good example. A travel blog site for points and redemption information I really like is milevalue.com. Last year got 2 free nights at the HK Conrad and this year flying free to and from HK first / business on cathay from cards and tips I picked up from the site.

SunLover.
Going on a trip you need to plan for the unexpected. I bring $1000 for every week I am there. So if I go for 3 weeks I bring 3000 in Hundreds. Yes, it sucks carrying all that cash. But, maybe your debit card does not work. Which happened to me before! Or you bring all $100's and exchange places will not except your 100's because they do not except certain years it was printed. Or they don't accept old hundreds or new hundreds. All of these situations have happened to me before. So bottom line is you need to have back up plans in place. Have money in multiple places also.

SunLover.
I carry a Schwab debit card, a Chase credit card, a Capital One Credit card and a few traveler checks on each trip. I always keep the traveler checks separate from my cards. The debit and credit cards are free to use. No bank charges or foreign exchange fees. I also carry cash but don't like carrying too much to avoid loss. I know guys that carry $5000-$6000 in cash and lock in their in-room safe. Staff can steal from in-room safes. Don't bring a lot of cash. Bring cards, debit or credit, that allow you to access your money without paying fees.
I carry only pristine 100 USD notes or 100 Euro notes. No footprint is left. I pay cash and good-bye.

Carlos.
But sometimes I have had issues when traveling trying to use large bills. Many people are suspicious of counterfeit notes, especially outside the USA.

Carlos.
No way in ISIS hell would I carry around ONLY Cash. Specially since I am in LOS every three months for three months at a crack. Like 'Allover' it is Capital One CC, Schwab ATM and State Farm ATM. All fees re-imbursed and no conversion fee.
Is anyone getting laid? I would just point out there is the General Thread for non-mongering topics or non Bangkok topics.
I visited Crazy House today. I would say standard of girl looks has improved again after being a bit down a few weeks ago.
Was fun having two girls on my lap. Only got to fuck one as they were too shy to go together. LOL.

The NEP street scene is IMO the best it's ever been in all the years since 2007. Hotter girls, better service, young ones replacing oldies. I haven't had a lame session yet, after taking mostly those I never had before, which is either very unusual or extremely lucky. Almost all the ladies from 3 years ago are gone, so it's pretty much a completely new lineup.
They are being discouraged from sitting by the Nana hotel or standing on the car park, while more are seen along the sidewalk between the two seven eleven stores. Anecdotal evidence indicates they may be pushing for a few hundred extra baht & condom use.
