Phnom Penh

May I make a plea for the girls working in Phnom Penh bars one of the problems in Phnom Penh especially in the riverside area is that there are too many bars and not enough punters. Not all the girls who flirt will go with customers and many of them work for tips and lady drinks only as a lot of bars can no longer afford to pay them a wage. It often amazes me how stingy some punters are I have even seen guys tip as little as 100 riel, I’m not asking anyone to throw money at every girl but if you have enjoyed their company why not reward them.

Even though I haven't been there yet I want to comment on this. I read back through a lot of pages but I'm sure my comments might come off as uninformed since they are only based on what I've read.

When I am looking for a girl I want someone I can take back to my room and fuck. This is one of the reasons I find the whole concept of 'hostess bars' confusing. I have no interest in a hot girl flirting with me so I will give her money and get nothing. That sounds like a strip club at home.

To each their own, I guess some guys are fine with that. I can only speak for myself but if I'm going into a bar like that in South East Asia to chat with a girl who is flirting with me and buy her expensive lady drinks I look at it as my interview to determine if it's someone I want to take to my hotel. Of course if they can make their living teasing guys and not fucking them - that's what they will do. But, I'm not going to support that.

The street is pretty loud until 2-3am. When the sun comes up there's a little dog (with an owner) on the street that wakes up and barks at the monkeys most mornings. A few monkeys jump around the area in the mornings from time to time.

Thanks. I ended up booking California 2. Lots of recommendations and it looks very nice - maybe not my ideal but chances are nothing is.

I suppose the fact that this thread contains more about hotels than girls means that PP has not picked up any in the two years since I last went there. Oh, and some tosser going on about a 'K11 replica' but not putting his money where his mouth is...... not worth a riel, if you ask me.

and to answer the question about picking up - it's different IF you speak Khmer (I don't, I speak THAI) but there are some jewels out there in the wild

Only thing I know about that area is the armed rebels and organized gangs and drug lords.

It's just the way of doing their business, luckily, not all bars in PP are like that yet.

Reason because some users read about jewels, not finding any, spending 50-100$ for something you can pay 2.50 or 5$ max, LT. And no, the "khmer friend" don't make you pay this price. Instead u will pay his help too. Either if is a 5$ girl, be sure, was a 10000 riel one, and he keep 2.50$ for help. ST, obiouvsly. Adding the tuk tuk /motorbyke service, eventually a beer, trying to buy his loyalty, you will think to be lucky, he's just using you laughing on your back with every Cambodian near the table, drinking and eating for free hehe.
