You are certainly correct that 30 Bar has faded away, it does not compare with its peak of around 3 or 4 years ago though it has to be said that it benefited from a strike at BATS which closed down for several months.

Girls in Jakarta get bored very easily and always want to move on to new places: "new is good". When I first came to Jakarta, Tanamour and JJ's were the places to be! Where are they now?!

In my opinion, the band at 30 has been it's problem. That black guitarist guy has well overstayed his welcome there. Him and his band were good 8 years ago, but he needs to hit the road. His antics of grabbing his crotch and blowing kisses at the girls as an attempt at humor are tiresome. His music has regressed as well. I do hear they have changed the band recently though - I'll have to stop by to check.

The girls are still sweet, but I also agree with the original poster, it has changed (evolved). When I was in Indonesia for the first time in 1997, Hard Rock cafe was still in Sarinah and when it closed you went to JJ's or Tanamour for the late pickups. Now things are more spread out, lots of new places coming and going. And with the use of the internet the girls got a lot more options and opportunities to "meet" guys, but since a few years we also can collect phone number trough the internet.

For someone who mainly asks questions in the forum, you have a lack of respect for some of the biggest contributors here. Incidentally, I worry about how quickly you're ageing: in 2006 you were 35 and now you're 41/42? Either your maths is off or it wont be long until you'll be past it.

That notwithstanding, I understand your urgency in trying to find out more details prior to your visit. You already have the distinct advantage of being white, which will elicit some interest on it's own. Since you are (as you say) still in reasonable shape, it should be no problem to find women. I would be willing to trawl through the city with you - should I have the good fortune to be there - trailing behind you to look out for the girls who show interest. Otherwise, as has been mentioned in these pages, keep an eye out and a friendly smile on your face and you should be able to find what you want anywhere from the airport to the shopping centres. If you want to try your luck, you can go to the clubs which are not "meat markets" like X2 and Dragonfly. I have had friends who have "pulled" in both these places using lines that I would hesitate to use almost anywhere else. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I have to agree that Jakarta has become more commercial since I first started coming(?). I remember the case of Maya in Tiga Puluh (remember B69) who used to be quite sweet and full of GFE. A year later she had been mistreated, contracted STDs and understandably hardened in the process. A lot more guys are going to Jakarta as sex tourists and unfortunately some of them are not the nicest guys in the world (not everyone is a Dorman or Mighty Spearsman). This will impact the city (hence Dorman's comments) but does not make it impossible to find the hidden gems - just much more difficult.

All that being said and done, here I am in Kuala Lumpur dying to find a way to finish off some urgent matters so I can free myself to go to Jakarta for one day of work and 3 nights of fun;). As such, I am about to commit (what one of my friends calls) the ultimate stupidity and fly a few girls TO Jakarta probably in January or February. I have not gone completely mad and do have a sane reason for this which, all going well, I will report on later. In the meanwhile, those of you who are there in Jakarta, count your blessings to be in the midst of so much promise and possibilities.

My Sunday started with a good reflexi in Mangadua square UG floor. Those who love foot massage must try. 25k for 90minutes. You get your own nice and soft chair with own LCD and head phone, etc

Then vistied Travel hotel at around 0130pm, had a cold beer to start off, not many girls there. Eventually pick a cewek call Nikki and it was a horible choice. Have to be my first bad pick here after several visit. Like a dead fish I will say. Anyhow, for 285k, what the hell. Pondered if should go for another one but decided to try something else.

Went upstair and, eventually, they now moved the "Sex Sofa" from the dark corner to next to the main counter with light and all. Quality of girls are from 5-7 not more than that with Travel hotel at 6-8.

Decided not to go for any sofa girl so pick a number 55 for massage. Of. They now use a big LCD to "manage" the booking so you can see who is available and who is out. The problem was that you are still as blind as a bat when come to selecting therapy. Aguan if you are reading, please put digital photo next to the number.

Anyway 55 was a gem. Good sensual massage hard worker. I would rate her 7/10 for massage and 6. 5/10 for looks

A bit of negotiation and get the std 300k so here we go.

She is an 8. 5 for bed action purely from her enjoyment of the game. Was so wet, lots of moaning, lots of sweating. I don't think its a fake but again, I am not going for the trophy here.

Overall, slight improvement for Tropical, better lighting so if you are going for girl, not a bad place to be.

well i was referring to taking advantage of the non-working girls - not the hardened pros. i merely mentioned sex tourists (among which i would count myself) but highlighted that even among us, there are some of the silent minority who are rather worse (understatement) than most of us. - your aussie example being one of them. i have no objections as to what consenting adults do on their own, but unfortunately the friendliness and gfe of the girls here has been affected by their exposure to some of the worst elements of our hobby. this has led to a change in the overall experience for many of the rest of us in jakarta.

I see lots of Indian, Pakistani and Arab guys around with indonesian GFs as well, so I wonder what that is doing to the scene, given that they are steeped in cultures where women are not always available or given due respect. One interesting question your paragraph begs, however, is "why not get the hell out of Jakarta?" There are plenty of wide-eyed starlets out in the provinces who would give their left tit to meet a bule, or just have the experience with one.

Interesting idea but this all started with Dorman's lament on the change in Jakarta - for the worse - and I'm not a bule.

Incidentally the girls catering to the Indian and Arab sector of the "market" tend to be of the fleshier kind, and hence not very much in demand to other parties. I have only met a couple of (slim) girls (my preference) who have catered for Arabs and they didn't - rather surprisingly in light of your statement - have anything bad to say; this is hardly an opinion poll but you only have to go to Tiga Kuda or Delilah to see that those girls have specifically chosen that segment to target - so I guess it can't be all bad.

Going to the "provinces" would be ok for those who have the time but not so simple as it may seem. I only have Medan as a viable alternative to Jakarta and fewer excuses to go there. Hence the wistful reminiscences of times gone by.

Reading the Jakarta thread has always been an enriching experience to me, and for that I'm very thankful to its contributors. My first trip was about 5 years ago and it seemed the clubbing scene was about to lose one of its legendary outlets – Tanamur then, I remember still wanting to check it out with a girl I earlier picked up from Bats just to get a feel of it. It must have been very similar in popularity to KL’s Modestos of mid 90’s, just its atmosphere 10 times more intoxicating to any man’s senses. ; o)

On my follow-up visits I frequented clubs like 30, Bats, Embassy, did hunting in Plaza Indonesia and always just loved the experience of being with Indonesian girls who compared to girls in KL were more genuine, fun, crazy open minded. It was usually more fun to be had in one weekend in Jakarta than in one month in KL. Some expats living in Malaysia for a long time often speak of good, old days when being a foreigner would mean scoring with the prettier lot of females. Those times are apparently gone.

But I believe Jakarta is not there yet and won’t be in the next 10-15 years. Yes it’s evolving but so do the expats residing their. I hung around with some at Dragonfly last year and what suddenly struck me is that with their experience and knowledge also came hesitation in approaching the girls, the spark in their eyes, the expression of mischief have faded. And when I didn’t think twice of walking up to girls and starting a conversation they would rather choose to ‘wait and see’, or noticed things like a particular girl looked ‘high class’ and remark why it ‘may not work out with her’. Knowledge took over imagination.

It’s probably the same way things work for me in KL, sometimes girls would ask questions like ‘are you working here? ’ whereas in Jakarta it would usually be: ‘are you first time here? ’, they are all quite good at reading your facial expression, body language and making conclusions about you past and present, so if you get very familiar with the place you may not notice your eyes are not shining with magic like they used to when you first stepped on this wonderful playground. In many clubs which are not meat-markets like Dragonfly first-time visitors score well just because they don’t assume that much. I’ve seen guys scoring with stunners with chat-up lines that were poorly veiled ‘how much? ’ questions. Whether they were misinformed or stupid doesn’t matter. The outcomes often left the ‘knowledgeable onlookers’ shocked.

Jakarta is not becoming less fun, you just have to keep contributing your share of it when meeting those babes.

On a different note, I recently came back from Manado. Stayed at the Ritzy hotel, $80 not cheap but good location. Visited all a few places like Haha, Score and the bar at the Gran Puri hotel. The latter was empty on Saturday even at midnight. Score looked the best, but appears the city is not frequented by sex-tourists as I didn’t see a single bule not only in the clubs but even in the city. Being the only visible foreigner in the club did not attract much attention though, all party goers mostly came in groups of friends. By about 1am a couple of single girls appeared at the bar (on the 2nd floor if not mistaken) not bad looking. Sorry guys, will finish tomorrow. My girl is back.
