It may be starting a sari sari, a boarding house or a farm. However, what they don't allow for is the constant outflow of money to parents, uncles, younger brothers, boyfriend's etc that will forever keep her broke. As soon as there is any nest egg, it will be siphoned off and she will never be allowed to get ahead.

Angeles City is the easiest way to ease into the country but once you have more experience, you should check out some of the other cities and try out online dating. It is definitely an adventure with flakes, scams and no-shows but then you do get your gems in the rough. You do have to put in more time and effort.

I was there 3 nights last week.

Even though the Philippines has a lot of exposure to western culture and values, it is still a very different place. Elders are respected and teenagers and young adults are expected to help their families. For young attractive women, landing a foreign BF can be gold. They want to help their families. While we see everybody and their brother with a hand out (which isn't entirely untrue), the girls are happy they can help them and take some pride in that. I've never been to Angeles, as bars are not my scene, but I have met several girls in Manila and the province.
