Mixed 70.4%.

Black 15.8%.

White 13.5%.

Other 0. 3%.

Note that respondents self-identified their race. As there is racial prejudice it is likely that this would result in a higher proportion of "whites". Certainly on the North Coast "real" Dominican whites nowhere near comprise 13.5%. I would say less than 5%. However I am aware things may be different in the Cibao and the capital.

"Black" at 15.8% only looks right if Haitians living in the DR are included OR mixed-race people with very dark skins are called "black" (as they would be in the USA, for example). Otherwise I would say little more than 5% of Dominicans are what I would call "black".

But as skin colors darken as we move down the social scale you will find that putas are darker than the national averages. Unless really talented, it is almost impossible for a black person to get a good job. Conversely, jobs will usually be found for white people unless they are total fuck-ups and as they are more likely to come from financially viable families they are less likely to drift into prostitution.

Mixed-race people are not referred to as mulattos here (except perhaps in social research). The popular term is "indio" and they are divided into "indio claro" (lighter) and "indio oscuro" (darker). Darker mulattos and blacks are called "morenos". This is a neutral term and has no negative connotations. Indeed it is often used as a friendly nick-name.

Haitians are often called "prietos". I have never heard a Dominican referred to as "prieto" however dark his skin but I stand to be corrected on that.

So to sum up, in Sosua the overwhelming majority of Dominican working girls you will find are "indias" (clara or oscura) with the very occasional white or black one. In addition, some 20% of the working girls there are Haitian who are all black or very dark brown.

I had not been to the DR since the early 200's and just decided to take a short get away for a long weekend. My prior visits were in puerta plata. First, I want to say thanks to Mr. E and World Travel and Esperto. I have read their reports in a number of different forums. I have found their information accurate and helpful so big thanks to you all. I work a full time job so I don't have tons of time to jump onto the forum. Most of my mongering has been the Philippines, Brazil years ago and a little in Colombia. I stayed in Sosua in an apartment on Pedro Clisante that I rented on [URL]booking.com[/URL] for $50 per night. The place was fine and fairly priced. The care taker was a women named Irina. Very nice. I would stay there again. It was in the hotel Europa which had a pool that I didn't use and a bar and restaurant none of which I used. The place is a short walk to all of the action. I don't recall the name of the main street where all the action is but it is not hard to figure out.

In comparison to Colombia and Brazil, the DR leaves a lot to be desired. One man's 4 may be another man's 10, so please don't hate on me. I am just sharing my experience for others as Mr E and others have done. The beach is very nice and a short walk from town but you can take a motorcycle ride if you like. My favorite eating spot turned out to be a place right across the street from the disco called classic or classic. It was called Cuban café or café Cuban or something with Cuban in the name. The coffee and food were good and reasonably priced. Can't go wrong at this place for food. I had breakfast there each day and it was popular among some Americans that owned places in Sosua. Things were pretty quiet on the main strip during the day because the hoes stay up all night and sleep all day. You can find some at the beach in Sosua later in the afternoon. It seems the routine for most were to start out on the main drag, some stayed outside and hung on the street and others went inside the bar downstairs from Classico with the hopes to find a guy for the night so that the guy would pay the cover charge to go up stairs to the classic disco right out the door and upstairs. This would be a good place to start your night out. There is another less popular disco down the street closer to hotel Europa but more options are at classic and the bar downstairs from it. I was not impressed at all with the talent or lack there of talent. Perhaps I am a picky guy with most of my time done in Brazil and Colombia and the PI. On average, I would say there was only 5-10% of the women that meet my standard or that I find worthy of banging. I was kind of disappointed. Most of the women had kids one or more and bellies and bodies that reflect that. There were a few stars don't get me wrong, but they were few and far in between in comparison to what I found in Brazil and Colombia. The stars or 9's also knew they were in limited supply so also appeared to have an air of I'm all that and a bag of chips ahoy. I ended up tagging two different ones on my days in Sosua that I would rate around 7's on my picky scale and decided to go home empty one night and my last night I stayed in Santiago at a hotel with a small casino called Matun or Matum.

It seems the going rate was anywhere from 2000-3000 peso depending on the girl and time of night. There were some that asked for 4 or 5000 pesos and when I laughed they then said how much and went from 5 to 4 and then 3 and said how much do you want to pay at which point I said no thanks I'm not interested. In my experience, the ones that ask for crazy amounts and then start dropping down when they realize you know what the going rate is provide a less than lackluster performance and are more of the hurry up and get down kind of girls. Again, this is my experience. Others may have different experiences. The action seemed to start at the bar downstairs from classic disco and then as the night gets later around 12-1 am they start moving into the disco upstairs. There are a number of little bars and restaurants on the same street that have some women as well but the brunt of the action seemed to be at classic and the bar downstairs next to it. Classic disco had a small cover something like 200 pesos but the bar downstairs was free to enter. Classic disco closes around 3 am and many of the women and people from there go to the casino that has an after hours disco that was always empty when I arrived shortly after classic let out but then one by one you see the classic disco crowd roll in and it picks up. I don't remember the name of the casino but there was no cover charge. To get to it, I went out the door of classic disco and drove down the street to my apartment at hotel Europa and took a left until the road ended and then took a right and it was a couple miles down the road and there is a sign on the left side of the road for it. Very easy to get to but too long to walk to so drive if you have a car or take a motorcycle or taxi to it. One of the women I tagged even let me have her ass for another 1000 pesos and I did.

You don't need a car to get around in Sosua. I only rented one because I flew into Santiago due to the short notice which is a good 1.5 -2 hour drive to Sosua. You can fly into Puerta Plata which is a hop skip and jump from airport to Sosua which would be the preferred way to do things. My ticket to Santiago was hundreds cheaper than flying into Puerta Plata and also in first class on delta. Made more sense to rent a car since I would pay a hundred or more to get a taxi or ride to Sosua from Santiago and I would have the rental care 24/7 for the same price. BTW, you only need your passport, USA drivers license, and a credit card to rent a car. You don't need an international drivers license in the DR like you do in some other countries.

I took off in the afternoon on Sunday February 18 from Sosua for Santiago to stay at Matum Hotel and Casino because I had a 7 am flight back to the USA on Monday Feb 19. I was going to do a little slumming around but decided to go with the easy option and get a good night of sleep since I had an early flight back. It cost a little more but was worth it to me. There is a bellman at Matum that speaks perfect English named Elvis. Yes that's his name. I too said really when he told me his name was Elvis. Nice guy very helpful. He told me that some hoes as it gets later sit out in front of the casino and others will be inside the casino. I think they also in the evening hang around the monument as well. I really wanted to get sleep so I asked him if he had some girls he knew that he could call to come to my room. He did. BTW for those that don't know this, often the door man or bell guy in hotels that work the evening shift often have a list of hoes they can call to come to your room. I found this to be the case in Brazil as well.

I ended up going with Elvis calling a girl whose name I do not remember. Good looking with a juicy nice, not sloppy booty. She was probably 20-22 and nice body and pretty face. On my scale a solid 8. 5-9 and the better of the three that I banged while in the DR. It cost me $100 and was worth it since I didn't have to leave the hotel and she came to me and I was able to get laid and get a good night of sleep without having to venture and find the action in Santiago. All three chicks I tagged, the two in Sosua and the one in Santiago gave a BBBJ and one of the ones in Sosua let me fuck her ass for an extra 1000 peso. In my opinion, the DR at least Sosua, was rather disappointing compared to my experiences in Brazil and Colombia as far as the Latina experience. I believe that everyone is entitled to their tastes and opinions, so thanks for sharing. There are many on here who will tell you you are wrong, but that's their opinion, to which they are also entitled.

I personally love the DR and especially Sosua, but haven't done Thailand, Brazil or Colombia. I'm heading to Colombia in a few days though, so looking forward to finding out for myself.

If I had only read his posts on this forum, I would never have gone myself.

DR women are obviously different than the women from PI, Brazil, Columbia, or Thailand, or Germany and Canada for that matter.

The good thing about DR women (aside from it being close and cheap) is that the fresh ones, new to the game, are coming through all the time and they are not the hard professionals you find in the clubs and rip off bars in some of the other world cities, where in some, prostitution may even be illegal.

At my age I only bang 9/10 with runway model features, because I can get ugly back home. With one big exception. My sometime regular companion, friend, housekeeper, cook, who comes in on the weekend with her bambina is lesbian, or bi, or both, and she rates a 7 according to the guys. I am curious as to how you found driving to be in DR since many people (most that have never even done it) advise against renting a car in DR.

By the way, one long ass trip on the bus and the same as you realizing that for the price I was paying for a taxi I could go where I wanted when I wanted is what caused me to start renting cars there.

Just to get to the point, went there, literally because my condo is not far away, today at 1 am (effectively being Sunday morning) and it was closed, no people, no music, just light on the outside. BTW, if you do a search on google maps be aware, that the wrong location is shown, the correct one is where PC does a left turn (if you are directed from Batey), just vis a vis the police station.

I'm not aware that somebody published here, that High Caribean is not operating ahora. Maybe guys with more information can share their wisdom.

Flashback.

Friday showed a lot of talent on PC, obviously more chicas coming to Sosua, looking for extra Easter Pesos. IMO qualitylevel rising a bit, with a bunch of flaca morenas, the ones I talked to, coming from the capital and Santiago. If you are negligent, you have an ant invasion the next morning. Her skills as a ama de casa might be low, because next morning I had to prepare the breakfast (for both of us) by myself, although hinting she should help. I went because it was closer than Colombia for short weekend and the price was a lot cheaper on the short notice and short planning than going to Colombia and I don't have the time to venture to Brazil or the PI at the moment. I wasn't expecting a GFE or hanging outside of classic at 2 am looking for it. I was just commenting on the differences between Sosua and my experience in other places and why it left a lot to be desired. I am not even a once a year guy for the Dr. It was kind of a probably this one time only and not again plan before leaving stateside. I did log some time in Puerta Plata and am well aware of how to lay down tracks and set things in motion for a place that I plan to frequent. The Dr was not on my list to frequent so it was like you said in the end take my chances which I did. No harm no foul. When I was frequenting Brasil I laid down my tracks and went on to site called parperfeito and met some incredible 9-10's with amazing success, none of which asked for money to be wired to them like the chicks on Dominican cupid. There are some stars to be had in the Dr like I said but the percentage is small in comparison to the percentage that I experienced in other places. Again just my opinion. Just wanted to share for those that have not had the experiences in Brazil or Colombia or may be first time Sosua people to let them know that in my opinion there are better treasure in bigger numbers elsewhere.

Back around 2000-2001 I made two trips to the Dr. And spent two weeks on one trip and about a month on the second one. I rented cars both times. I found the women quality back then to be much better than my trip in February. Although I rented a car, I too would generally advise against it unless you are a very good driver with good eye sight and quick reflexes. Driving is a damn adventure as I am sure you know. Roads go from paved normal speed highways to dirt roads with potholes with no forewarning. You have cars and motorcycles driving with dim or sometimes no lights. Driving is crazy there. If renting a car I would suggest driving slow and very defensively and try to limit your night driving to in town stuff and stay off the long runs like Santiago to Sosua at night unless you really know the roads. Would I rent a car again if I went to the Dr again, absolutely because I like doing what I want when I want and don't like to depend on others. That is just how I roll.
