Rainbow bars have got the worst at-door management, there was an old report on ISG from way back where an American of Indian origin was hurt by the doormen for questioning why he was being denied entry. This issue seems to have cropped up after a while, but this is in no way a new incident at this establishment. The door men at the Rainbow bars seem to be the worst of the lot in all of LOS, who unnecessarily get aggressive and I am glad to hear that you stood up to them and managed to get away with it. These bars are best avoided since these weak (asshole) men at the door would try and gang up on patrons who they think do not deserve to be let in. I have tried to enter this place only once and when I was told I won't be allowed in on account of not being a member (and I saw others not being asked the same question), I walked away not wanting any trouble. This place just has a seedy reputation, avoid it, nothing can be done about it.

As to leaving American values of fairness and discrimination at home, I may be wrong about this but aren't the NEP bars owned by westerners? If so, given the general rule "fish rot from the head," aren't they the ones imposing the discriminatory practices?
Again, I'm not suggesting creating a scene over such issues would prove productive, but that does not detract from the offensiveness of such discriminatory practices. I for one am that much less inclined to frequent the Rainbow bars after hearing these sorts of accounts.

I do not know why I was not allowed in, and at this point I really don't care. Perhaps a group of Japanese men had the placed packed $$ and did not want others as Japanese are very insecure. I read about this in Tokyo section and stayed away from those places when I was there, but this is all speculation. My point being, I read and research places on this site before I visit and stay away from trouble. My report was simply to contribute to all the usefulness of this site.
