These are the options I can see. Tiger doesn't look much more reliable than Cebu, but hanging around CRK for a day seems less hassle than a trip to MNL and back and forth if no suitable flights. Thanks again.

Spend some time in Lagos and tell me it looks like the PI. All 3rd world countries have a similar look in the poor parts, but doesn't have anything to do with the attitude and the people located within. I have spent time in Lagos and it is my #1 shithole spot I have ever been in! I live in the PI and would NEVER, EVER, EVER, consider rolling in Lagos. CS, please be accurate in your statements.

Having been to Lagos many many times it is my least favourite place to revisit (unless the company ask me..and pay me a lot). Manila is also bad but at least I find some nice pussy there which I never find in Lagos (Africans not my flavour) and thus the while being a shit hole the girls at least help me forget how bad it is :D
Jakarta sucks but is OK at times, Cairo is a shit hole too IMHO, parts of Pakistan pretty bad as is Calcutta but all have some 'redeeming' factors that Lagos never has

I'm definitely not an expert, but have spent quite a bit of time in 3rd world countries and know a shithole when I see one. I have even spent time in Karachi, Pakistan and that comes a close second. I can only make one trip to asia next year. Cost is not the most consideration. I would like an experienced Mongers opionon of which is the best place for an enjoyable time, manely with girls, quality lookers.
No contest for me. I'd go to Thailand. The girls are cuter, in my opinion. The country is much nicer. The food is way better. Manila is actually a dangerous place. I feel completely safe in all parts of Bangkok and Pattaya. Not so at all Manila.
There will be those that disagree with me. But you asked for my opinion. If I were to guess. I'd say 80% of mongers prefer Thailand with 20% preferring the Phils. I will say that if you go to the Phils, go straight to AC do now waste your time in Manila.

I ended up passing out in the police station and my live in later said she thought I had died. I guess I had lost a lot of blood becuase I had to rest at the station for a while before I could go out with the cops to find the guys who beat me. I IDed three of the six but I wasn't really sure with two of the guys, as these filipinio punks all looked the same to me with their wife beaters, shorts and flip flops. I went to the hospital afterwards to get stitches under my eye. Today I am going to see an opthamologist to make sure there is no permanent damage to my eye, but I think I will be ok, as there is no pain or vision problems.
Anyways, there is much more to this story but I'm not going to get into the details regarding the police reports, prosecutor's office, talking to the family members of the guys, mothers, fathers, cousins, godparents etc. ("they are good boys, trust us!"). But I have learned my lesson to take trikes at all times at night, even if it's going two minutes away to Joliebee. And even during the day now I think I will take Jeepneys everywhere as well.

this poor fellow was having a good time. dancing, laughing, ass grabbing with 3-4 of the titanium hostesses/waitresses. of course, he had been buying ladydrinks for all those cute girls for several hours and he went nuts when he was presented with his bill for the night.
i don't know how big his bill was, but i bet it was upwards of 20,000 to 30,000 baht. titanium is not one of those ripoff karaoke bars but it is easy to ring up that much of a bill when you're buying ladydrinks for 3-4 girls for a couple hours.
the guy started screaming, throws the bill in the waitresses face, wildly waving his arms, and refusing to pay.
a couple stout thai bouncers dragged him outside and by the time he hit the pavement, he was getting kicked by tuk tuk drivers, waitresses, bouncers, and even some stranger who just happened to be walking down the street.

just a quick comment/ question. i live in the pi and i am working here in bangkok now and just starting to get a little familiar with how things are here. i had an incident the other night that has me curious. my co-worker and i took a couple girls from soi cowboy and were heading back to the hotel when we were flagged down and pulled over by police at an aparent road check. we were all told to get out and i directly walked away and stood on the curb like i have done in the past in other parts of the world. they searched my co-worker pretty well even as far as smelling the cigarettes in his cig pack. the two girls were searched physically also and bags gone through very closely and id's checked for a few minutes. they didn't bother me until they were ready to go and i just jumped in the taxi.
is this an every night occurance around the city? i assumed they were looking for drugs. and as i found out, on another occasion, there was a 17 yr old girl working in one of the bars in soi cowboy and plainly showed me her bar id. is this normal as well? sure would of been pretty pissed off if the girls we were taking had a little stash of shabu or something and were ****. especially since they came out of a bar.

and then theres a whle series of videos on you tube, about thailand and foreigners in jail in thailand. (posted somewhere on bkk board). both places have got challenges if you are the wrong person in wrong place at wrong time. both places can equally be wonderful.
Don’t underestimate the dangers in Thailand. Robbery, particularly by ladyboys, is a hazard on Sukhumvit (ask Barko) and the beating of tourists by local scumbags is common in Pattaya/Phuket, which also has many druggings, muggings and unexplained deaths by ‘accident/suicide’.
Thailand is a more ‘user friendly’ environment for the tourist and the providers can be beautiful if sometimes a little too mechanical and professional for my taste these days. Filipinas are more girlfriendly and you have much more chance of 'freebies' but the infrastructure/food/travel can really suck, particularly in Manila and Angeles.
