Good report. I've been living here in Manila for 7 years and have tried all the "venues". The following are based on my opinions only.
Havana Cafe or the WG's that hang around the circle are expensive and I've heard too many reports of how they work in rings that try to scam the customers. More on that at a later time. Plus these girls are not checked, health-wise. I've known the owners of EDSA for almost 10 years (I even helped Mario put in part of the Cowboy facade in the Bullet's club. Well at least I gave him my creative opinion). They check these girls weekly. Not to say that will guarantee full safety, but better than no health check at all. Any of the girls at EDSA can produce a health card.
P. Burgos street is more downscale. Girls are similar to the ones at Manila Bay Cafe (Also did you know many of the girls that work at P. Burgos also work at MBC?). Remember, the more foreigners in the club the higher the price.
Finally there are the massage parlors on Pasay Road. That is where you can also go for an afternoon delight.
=============
I can't help thinking that there is a time warp here and that LoveGod's post is more relevant to around 12 months ago.
He seems to be posting about Manila from at least 6 months ago (except for the comment about Burgos which is just wrong)
It doesn't seem to jibe with my knowledge of Manila after living here for 15 years.
For starters, LG must have missed the fact that Cafe Havana is operating under new rules for the past 3 to 4 weeks. No working girls (health checks or not) are there any more.
I am gobsmacked that he can say that P Burgos is "more downscale and the girls are similar to the ones at Manila Bay Cafe". I just cannot give any credibility to that comment at all. P Burgos is way above quality anywhere else, but it is the prices that are ridculous.
I am wondering what MPs he means on Pasay Road. The 2 that I know of (including Phoenix) have both been closed down just before Christmas.
I am not attacking you LG. I just wonder what lenses you are using to make such definitive statements that I just cannot follow. More information would help.
Re the "local prices" in the bars. I get "local resident rate" in all hotels in the PI (by showing my driver's licence) , but I sure as hell don't get it in local bars. Are you a pinoy or do you travel with pinoys? I am a foreigner and I am afraid once a foreigner always a foreigner when it comes to pricing.
Can you explain this in more detail please?

Have you ever tried the KTV's on Roxas Blvd or in Quezon City? That is where us "locals" go. Trick is: Tell them that you are based in the Philippines and should be treated as a local. That means (1) no cover charge (2) you can bring in your own bottles of booze with no corkage (3) local food menu (yes, there are two versions of the food menu and the foreigner menu is 30% higher (4) Locals get a 20. 25% discount on all food and drink. Barfining is more expensive (6k. 7k) but the girls are prettier. What most of us do is get a "short time" with the girl in the VIP room. You can pay between p2, 500. P3, 000 for 30 minutes with the girl in one of the private rooms in the club.
Finally there are the massage parlors on Pasay Road. That is where you can also go for an afternoon delight.
Finally, there is something called "dormitory" or some variation of that term. All cab drivers know this place. It is a brothel where you pick up a girl and take them to your hotel. At much lower prices that the venues listed above.
Anyway, those are some of the options you have here in this beautiful paradise!
=============
Anywhere in Manila is a rip off. Ofcourse nobody will get " Local " prices irrespective of what you say. I had a good local friend who said when he goes with even one foreigner he gets ripped off. When he goes only with his local friends they get it cheap. I think the owners decided that word should not get around that they are giving local prices to any foreigner coming in.
All girls working in bars are prostitutes. If they did not make enough money will not stoop to going to MBC to make money however beautifull she is? Some EDSA girls told me sometimes on weekends they go to MBC ostencibly to dance and have a good time but I believe will not turn down a good offer.
" Dormitory " is generally a myth for foreigners. I have gone with some touts to see. Girls are generally young, not very good looking and look dirty. There is a reason why they are not working at upscale bars.
Down del pilar there are some small stores selling small things. They have girls there too you an take. Just need to chat up the lady. I was offered but did not like the quality. I stopped there to buy some mangoes and the lady asked me if I had a Gf. When I said no she showed me some girls I can take. Couple was doable but was afraid of scams.

=============
LOL. Burgos girls are FAR more pretty then EDSA and I am yet to find one Burgos girl that at 4am when her shift finishes would bother with MBC. On the other hand almost all EDSA girls trickle in MBC and few other bars after their shift ends at 3am. After all its only 5 min from EDSA as oppose to the 30-40 min from Burgos plus 100 peso for cab. It just doesn't make sense.
I agree with Sammon, lots of crap in this post.

Peace Brothers!
Didn't mean to get everyone all riled up. I thought I prefaced my post with "the following is based on my opinion only".
Anyway, other than Cafe Havana (true I haven't been there for 2 months (been traveling) , but everything else I have posted is what I experience.
And beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right? So if you think the P. Burgos gals are way prettier than let's say Classmates or Pegasus or even Asian Entertainment, that is ok by me.
And I am Filipino American. Grew up in the USA but now maintain permanent residence here in Manila. I hang out with both local and Expats alike.
If you want, we can go to my favorite place, have a drink and talk about this sometime. Just PM me.
Cheers!

Mbc
Gentlemen. I saw the report that EDSA is across from the HERITAGe hotel where exactly is MBC? Are there any lanmarks nearby? Like a hotel? I am familiar with Burgos. Now would like to partake of new talent.
I searched the forum and cannot find good report on location of MBC.
To the experts. Quality ranking EDSA is above MBC or the other way around?
Thanks for feed

Thanks for feed
Its on the corner of del Pilar and Salas. Just one block of east of Roxas Ave (the main drag along the Manila Bay). Coming out of the front door of MBC, turn left, walk one block (north) along del Pilar, and at the corner of del Pilar and Sta Monica, across the street (east) , is Amazonia bar (girls). Keep walking another long block to Padre Faura St, turn right, walk 1. 5 blocks and on your right is G-Point Cafe (girls).
I'll draw you a map.
Your posts makes more sense now. Like RK suggested putting MBC and Burgos in the same basket is really not right price wise or quality wise. I think again you are doing the same thing but on the other side of the spectrum now, what you pay in Classmates or Pegasus for ST is what you would pay in some Burgos bars for LT. Same goes with Entertainment Asia once you account for all the silly tips and charges that you have to pay to everyone there.
I find also preferences are very different between the locals and the tourists. You may prefer ST because you have other things to do that evening or a wife / gf to go back to but many of us prefer long time which makes Classmates or Pegasus not really an option. To me just the tough of being stuck in traffic from Makati to QC turns me off but even at times when I am in QC again I find that ST is really not what I crave. This is personal preference.
I am sure because of your background you are treated different to us that have non Filipino blood. One of my good Filipino mates in Aus few times while being in Manila together has pointed me in the right direction and show me places that I would have never know that they existed but at the end of the day he prefers for each of us to monger alone due to price difference and similar to you his preference for ST. He is after all staying with his family that he hasn't seen and uses me as an excuse to get out and "show me the sites" for few hours. I prefer that too to be honest. I have heard plenty of stories in AC where mixed police patrols have been involved in busts and in many bars once they see a Filipino and expat together the mood quickly changes.
Good to have you on this board perhaps you can share some intel on places that haven't been mentioned here. I am sure we would all love to know where the local crowd goes to get their thrills and what prices you pay.
. So if you think the P. Burgos gals are way prettier than let's say Classmates or Pegasus or even Asian Entertainment, that is ok by me.
========================
That's not what you said LG.
You said ". P. Burgos street is more downscale. Girls are similar to the ones at Manila Bay Cafe (Also did you know many of the girls that work at P. Burgos also work at MBC?). ."
I took issue with your silly comment that P Burgos girls are similar to those at MBC, and that is simply utter crap no matter what eye glasses you use
Now you are confusing the issue (or sidelining it) by throwing in Pegasus and Classmates etc. I agree they are creme de la creme but that is not what made me make my comment. It was your comparison of P Burgos girls with MBC girls.

Cat House
Currently fortunate enough to be staying in Makati for work. I would like to add a brief report on a small bar, quite possibly well known to some of you, named Cat House.
Located just off the top end of Burgos street, in a small street between Ringside Bar and Star light (I believe that is the name).
Pool table is good, food is crap. Happy hour between 5 and 8 pm. Ladies drinks at that time run at 195 pesos.
There are a reasonable amount of "waitresses there" wearing different costumes on different evenings. Mixed bag in terms of talent, but I don't believe they could be called ugly.
The girls are friendly and touchy feely.
Handjobs and CBJ allegedly available at the back of the bar. Quoted 1000 pesos for this service. If you partake, you may need to also pay a "cover girl" girl or two around 300 pesos each.
I have arranged after work liaisons. No names mentioned. 3000 pesos will be quoted. I have also had a couple of the girls come to my apartment midday for 2000 pesos each.
Anyway gentlemen, if this sounds to your liking, I hope that you enjoy.

Amazonia bar. Few girls only. May find a decent one. They have ST rooms upstairs also. No security, so be carefull girl does not steal from you. One girl tried to go into my pockets. I was watching from the bathroom and put a stop to it.
G-Point- few girls. Smaller bar.

If you are not familiar with Malate the best way to find Manila Bay Cafe is to get in a taxi and tell the driver "Hyatt Hotel Malate". When the taxi arrives at the hotel get out and ask the security doorman "where is Manila Bay Cafe" and he will point you in the right direction. MBC is located two blocks from the Hyatt and use caution while walking.
Enjoy.

Bye bye Havana
I hate to see Havana's go by the wayside. It was a rare exception that I did not find a keeper there. In fact I seem to keep them for sometime afterwards. Someone must think they are good, because two really good ones told me over the last six months that they can't see me anymore in Manila because they are afraid their "boyfriends" will find out. Or maybe they were trying not to hurt my feelings. Both occasions the last session was memorable.
I will be interested to see where "those girls" wind up, most of the ones I met were not the MBC type. Maybe SF will pick up the slack. I do understand how Havana maynot be upset about being associated with "that type of place".
Only time will tell, but still a little sad.
It was my favorite place to hangout in Manila. I would deisgn my whole trip so I can be there on a certain day, and arrive at a certain time. I met one of the girls I am still friends with. I asked here on my recent trip (3 weeks ago) , and she tells me the girls have started sitting at the adjacent bar Brento. Also, some sit at the coffee places, or just hang around the area. I think it will dissapear pretty soon. The only lefts will be those ladyboys!
