Unless you're over 75, you can safely bet on Thailand changing rapidly within your lifetime. Hong Kong and South Korea were once viable and thriving sex destinations (before the internet and cheap air travel so this was not widely publicized and there were no hordes of working class foreigners visiting).

When I moved to Thailand, I also thought the sex scene would not change dramatically for at least a 2-3 decades, but it shifted dramatically in under 10 years. It's difficult to see it coming, and even difficult to figure out it's happening if you live here or visit often (like a frog being slowly boiled), but obvious in retrospect.

From what I've seen, sex scene in Thailand (especially the freelancer scene) has gone downhill rapidly around 2009/10, and seems to be in terminal decline. Before that there was decline for some years, but slower paced.

Back in the day (prior to 2009), the scene would easily pull in guys who were averse to prostitution, and came here without thoughts of a naughty holiday. One could effortlessly find someone for an hour, night, week. And often the overall experience was so great that quite a few guys would marry the 1st (or 10th, same thing!) Thai hooker they met (even younger guys did this occasionally).

These days the scene still looks large to a first-time visitor (especially given that it's in plain view and not hidden away like in most other countries), but it's populated by the remnants and dregs, as Goatscrot said, girls obviously too lazy or too stupid to do other work. Or having been hookers for way too long to switch to anything else. It's fair to admit Thai hookers (in the Farang scene) are still more pleasant and service minded than in most other countries (e. G. Vietnam, China), but that's a low bar to clear. And don't care to keep it up for long.

It would be interesting to find statistics on Western sex tourist arrivals (as opposed to general tourist arrivals), and also on the number of marriages between Farang and Thai bargirls. They guys who date or marry what's left on the hooker scene in 2014 must be both desperate and nearly blind (whereas before they were just temporarily blindsided by being treated unexpectedly well).

I am moving in this direction anyway with more interest in high end soapies and G Clubs as time goes by. But at present there are still friendly doable girls in oilies and sexy Go Go girls as well, so it is my opinion that BKK is still very good although not the bargain it once was. Comparatively, just check out prices in Makati Burgos Street Bars and Jakarta high end Bordellos like Alexis and Malioboro. Girlie prices are up universally! And the rise in prices is not just for Asian poontang. Check the price of coffee, bread, or tomatoes at Whole Foods in the good old USA. The prices on these basic commodities are through the roof. Real wages continue to decline in America. Maybe electing responsible leaders might stabilize prices and get the economy back on the right track. Maybe we are already too far into decline. I don't know. Me, I am going to party on until the lights get shut off.

But you, Goatscrot, you must have quite a few favorite massage girls and FL's in your address book. Prices for you, as an ex-pat local guy, must be significantly better than for me a 2 month a year traveler/visitor or a newbie just landing. Plus, Bangkok Gold, which I consider to be one of the elite escort agencies in Bangkok charges 8000 baht for 4 hours.

In contrast, an elite escort in Miami, Florida charges US$2500 (and up) for 4 hours.

Another option here is thirty minutes with an attractive, ruthless stripper who makes gogo girls in Bangkok seem like sweet little girls. For me I think BKK is as close to perfect as it gets. I've looked into a lot of places all over the world. Singapore, though, in Geylang, is to my taste, even better in some ways. That was a hidden gem that my research and investigations unearthed. As the saying goes, seek & you will find.

The cost of the airfare was already mentioned. Hotel is a non factor with travelers such as myself who have given up there residence back in farang land or are renting it out.

Otherwise if airfare is 1000 USD and a 30 day hotel stay in BKK is 1200 more, that's 2200 USD. If the guy does only one P4 P gal a day at a savings of 200 USD over what he'd pay back in the USA, that's 6000 USD saved. Subtract the 2200 and he's essentially getting 3800 USD worth of free sex in LOS. Make that 5000 if the hotel cost is excluded. Like I've said before, I've gotten 6 or 7 figures of free poon value by regularly being in Asia over the years. So, yes, obviously the prices one pays back in the Western world or Far East or Middle East do matter when sex tourists are considering whether it will be worth it to make the trip or just stay home.

The last few pages of comments were generally written from the standpoint of long-term expats or repeat visitors who use Thailand 5-10 years ago or even in late 1990's as a reference. Compared to that, the scene is rather depressing in virtually every respect (selection, service, looks, price).

If you're coming from a fundamentalist sex-for-sale desert like Saudi Arabia or USA, Bangkok scene will look great. However, if you're from a non-stuck-up place with a passable PFP scene like Germany or Russia, I doubt Bangkok would impress. Scene seems larger (due to venues being more visible), prices can be lower (though not by much, especially if you count flights / hotel), and service is indeed still better (albeit inconsistent, and without stellar GFE which used to be the main draw). On the other hand, in the Frankfurt RLD or Moscow dosug ads, far better looks and more diversity can be found.

You can see the difference in perspective right here when some mongers talk about seeing superstars or lookalikes of Thai office girls in Nana Parking Lot, while to those familiar with Thailand they're obviously in the bottom 30% of Thai females by looks.

I wouldn't be willing to bet Thailand is worse than the Philippines. In fact, Bangkok is almost certainly better than Manila these days. Pattaya vs AC is also a tossup. Haven't been in the PI for many years (and honestly, didn't like it much when I went), but AC may have an advantage in more readily available GFE, whereas Pattaya has a bigger scene, somewhat better looking girls, and is overall more pleasant (safer, has non-mongering stuff to do).

In summary, skipping Bangkok might be OK, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend skipping Pattaya for AC.

I absolutely agree with every word you wrote. Things have declined seriously in Thailand and in general in many other destinations such as CR. The FL quality is just horrible now a days, I can't be paid enough to have sex with such plain looking women.

The world has changed a lot since 99. No one could imagine such a serious decline in western tourist in those days. And no one imagined Chinese and Indians becoming dominant travelers in 10 years but that's precisely what has happened. Most good looking or charming females don't need to enter P4P any more, they have lots of opportunities.

Still, I would not call it depressing. I think some guy's gloomy perspective may be because the P4P scene is less affordable for them than it used to be. In contrast, compared to Southeast Florida (where I live), everything in Bangkok is a bargain, lodging, food, transportation and sex.

Also, as I mentioned in my earlier post some men experienced in the German FKK scene really like Bangkok and Pattaya. The scenes are different. Each has its good points.

He wrote many excellent posts on these locations. It would be wise to read those. They are one man's opinion, but he is a very reasonable man with much experience.

Some may prefer one or the other; some may like both for various reasons.

For the sake of full disclosure I recently visited BKK, Manila, Pattaya, AC and Subic.

BKK has much better food, better infrastructure (more choices in hotels at all price points + better transportation), and it is safer than Manila although Manila is not dangerous if you know how act in a large 3rd world city. There is much more to do during the day in BKK than in Manila.

Girls:

BKK girls on average are better looking than Manila Pinays. The key words are "on average"; because there are some great looking girls in Manila if you are willing to pay up for them. Which brings me to price:

Near the bottom rung, 1500 p ($34) to 2000 p ($45) gets you an MBC FL girl. They are very nice, but for the most part VERY PLAIN. Why some guys want to fly half way around the world to shag a plain girl they would be embarrassed to be seen out with in their home towns is a mystery to me, but guys do it all the time. There are plenty of plain girls in BKK and Pattaya too and they all seem to find customers. 555.

Then for a minimum of 4800 p ($107) you can move up in class and looks to an EDSA Entertainment Complex girl. The girls in my favorite bar in EDSA, the Cotton Club, are roughly on par with Nana Go Go girls you will find in RB4 only MUCH MORE GFE. That is the key difference. They are attractive Pinays and offer the GFE, but some guys can fuck that up too, so there is no guarantee of service if you are an Ass-hole.

Next up the ladder are Burgos Street bar girls. My favorite Burgos Bar is Bottoms and believe me they have some great girls. The price is not cheap! It is 3900 p for barfine and 4000 p for service or $176 total all in. Now they do credit Lady Drinks towards the barfine so if you buy your girl 10 shots of Tequila (10*390) there is no barfine. Ha Ha! Usually I bought around 4 Tequila shots for my girl while we went at it very hot and heavy in a booth, so the barfine was 2340 p (3900 p - 1560 p) or $52, but there was still the girl's fee of 4000 p ST or 5000 p LT ($89ST / $112 LT) that must be agreed upon.

So the bottom line: Manila has great girls, but at a pretty steep price. It is definitely not cheaper than BKK. In fact, when paying up for quality, it is at least as expensive and sometimes a lot more so than BKK. What Manila girls have on average over Thai girls is the GFE. I live here and have for 15 years. So the only valid comparison is for an expat is then and now. And now is very different from then. But, hey I certainly understand your viewpoint.

While you are spot on (I have a few favorites from the oilies), it required quite a change in my modus operandi. For years I went out on average 4 nights a week, rarely if ever taking the same girl twice. Most nights in Thermae, Nana Disco, or even walking lower Suk I would have scads of girls to choose from. Everywhere you went in that area there were pretty great gals. Thermae was so packed by 2 am that you could hardly walk (it closed at 6 am) and Nana Disco was filled with amazingly good looking gals. There were gals everywhere. The volume was amazing. GoGos could be fun as well. Midnight was amazing before the "Arab" took it over. 500 baht included the BF and the ST room upstairs. Gals were very happy with 1000 baht. All drinks were 100 baht, lady drinks included. Your operational strategy if you were a resident is right in the wheelhouse. That is what most guys do these days. They get a rotation and order in. I have a "regular" gal that lives with me, so that is not an option. If I lived alone, that is what I would.

I do agree that the price you come in at is the price you pay for the duration. That seems to be the case. However, I kind of cringe at the thought of seeing some of the gals that I did 15 years ago. Some would be 40 + now!

I have great friends here. Most long term guys like myself. We don't run the bars when we go out. Once a week, we meet up, head out for a great meal, and go get a drink or two where we can talk.

Would I move here for the P4 P scene now? Probably not. It is great to have and I would not want to live in a place without availability, but frankly it is not what keeps me in BKK. So if either of you ever decide to settle here, rest assured it is an amazing town with so many other things to offer besides just gals.

Manila is kind of a pit. Phil food is abysmal. I do like Pinay gals though. Fluent English makes a difference.
