Most countries only report "confirmed" cases (for whatever definition of "confirmed" they use), so the figures do not reflect the actual number of infections. In a recent test of a representative sample of people in Belgium, 4.5% of those tested had corona virus anti-bodies in their blood, so must have been infected at one time or another. 4.5% of the Belgian population is a little over 500 000, yet Belgium only officially reported less than 50 000 confirmed cases. So there is a good argument to be made that the actual infection rate may be 10 times as high as the confirmed infection rate reported. Much will depend of course on how intensive these tests are being done. Except for countries such as South-Korea, Singapore or the worst hit areas in China, testing is nowhere near what is needed to get a good view on the actual spread of the infection.

Thailand, with almost 70 million people, will have much more than the less than 3000 "officially" infected people. How much will be the real value? That's anybody's guess.

I think it is hard if not impossible to report all the testing and data accurately most countries if not all are doing their best. Here is how I separate my opinion I look at past performance although no indication or guarantee of future performance if an individual or country in this particular case (China) has a habit of lying, holding back the truth or just providing half when it is clearly red they tell you with a straight face it is blue, the timeline is all there as to what China did regarding the virus take that history I got to be suspect as to what comes out of their mouth now and in the future I apply this same principle to P4 P too.

What matter most is which country is opening up for our hobbies and whether we are allowed entry.

Asian countries numbers are low now compared to Europe and USA on WHO's lists whether you think it is false or not.

The countries involved in allowing entry of foreigners will decide on that.

[/QUOTE]You're assuming that many countries are going to trust WHO (the Chinese PR organization) for deciding who to allow entry in. I already know many European countries won't be allowing Chinese anytime soon, good for our FKK friends, less Chinese there. But less Chinese there means, more in Thailand. Which is not great for me and for many others. Most probably they will hike up the prices moment they come and larger their numbers the higher will be the effect. Just one of the scenario.

It is assumed maybe due to the distance the Chinese and other Asians will be returning to Thailand first or other mongering locations. What is missing in the discussion is first before one arrives and leave are the restrictions going to be lifted? Like Thailand are they still going to require a medical certificate within 72 hours of arrival and an insurance policy to cover minimum 100,000 baht, is there going to be a quarantine one end or both otherwise I don't think anyone is going anywhere?

The key Thailand nor China, Korea, Japan are exempt their economies are hurting, and when hurting who has the money to burn regardless of how close you are. Then.

You got the airlines, vacation industry, and hotel all projected that prices will go up! Until a vaccine is found you are talking about a 8-12 months airline must take caution and use social distance on their flights less capacity higher cost this is the same for hotels no one is going to stay in business continue to take a loss and providing a discount. In some sectors, it is projected 2-3 years before the economy gets back to pre-virus.

I projected a war between China and America it is here now the virus has brought everything to the front if not a physical war it will be a trade war what we experience prior to the deal reached in December will be nothing going forward it is going to affect everyone everywhere if China doesn't start buying as promised and that has nothing to do with taking responsibility for their lying regarding the virus.

For the last week I've been seeing on the Darkside and in-town business of all shape and size removing their furniture, they are done. It doesn't seem bars or GoGo are on the list to open for another month to June 15th, that is a death blow.

The ideas proposed included the following, but none addressed social distancing between strangers.

5. hand sanitizer on all tables (why at all tables).

6. a limit on the number of customers admitted (who gets in and who doesn't? Big spenders only wanted).

7. as well as a limit on drinks promotions and parties (good luck on revenue and paying off the police their share).

8. medical screening spots could be set up in areas such as Walking Street (screen who, where, how, and how often).

9. logging ID and passport numbers in order to facilitate contact tracing (if you have to do this and reached this point, Walking Street will be closed down again).

[/QUOTE]Great points about travel restrictions and policies enforced by Thailand for tourists which will play a big role for economy. I've a feeling and just a feeling, that government will make very tourist-friendly policies to attract as many as possible. Things are already starting to open quicker than expected, and numbers of case are way down officially other than the spike we had the other day.

Smaller ones were expected but bigger ones can pay couple of months of bill, so if they're closing down, that would be surprising. And as far as I know, other than couple of gogos on WS, nothing has been closed officially by now. But the numbers of gogos will close with a much quicker rate if the usual low-season turned out to be too low.

How do I know? It's because as humans, we all do the same to each other. I can with 1000% sureness, tell you that "cause of death numbers" are easily manipulated and have been. I have first hand experience when it comes to crap like that. Somebody who is positive of COVID-19 can easily be listed as Acute Respiratory Failure upon death or Renal Failure upon death. Government funding of healthcare means government influence when it comes to the data. If you want to enlighten yourself to what is going on, do a bit of research, and try to answer the right questions.

1. How long virus survives outside body and on surfaces?

2. No signs or symptoms and can still be still be infected?

3. Asymptomatic can still be contagious?

4. Vaccine is how long in waiting and why isn't there still one for SARs?

5. Who gets, who does not, same as the FLU vaccine?

6. Does a vaccine mean you can't be infected, reinfected, or die (see #5)?

7. How many strains of Coronavirus 19 are there and will be, since viruses mutate?

8. Does different strains mean different vaccines needed just like the Flu?

9. Reinfection to the same host possible?

10. Immunity certain or not after infection?

11. Masks types, what's their exact purpose, and effectiveness (95% effectiveness of the N95 is like having unprotected sex with somebody with HIV one time).

12. What is the state of the local municipality healthcare system to address the sick, does that have to do with the reported data?

13. What's the point of testing when negative today does not mean that you've will be negative in a few days after?

15. Antibodies means you have been exposed and were infected, but look at 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 13.

16. What is sanitation and cleanliness of the population, food industry, their habits and its relation to disease progression and contagions?

17. Cash and money heavy country play what kind of role when it comes to the spread of contagions (see #1)?
