I recommand that you forget Bay Chai. On my first 5 minutes out of my hotel a guy in the street came and talked to me. He said in a funny out of date French : "attention beaucoup de pirates, beucoup de polissons ici". I did not pay attention. But he was true : Bay Chai is just a very commercally orientated place for Chinese tours. I got cheated by the woman who took me to the *****s, and nearly had to fight with her "husband" on my way home, I got cheated by the "travel agent" who sold me the boat ticket to Cat Ba. Don't trust anyone there. Actually, don't even go. In Cat Ba, I found a kind of Cambodian style Karaoke, ie a Karaoke where noboby singsany songs, but takes the only girl there (young and cute) to f... her in the back room for 10 USD. It has red lights like the barber shops in China, in a side srteet, on the way to the 2 discos.
I did not do anything in the discos. One is for Foreigners, the other one for Viets. I of course recommend the on for Viet to have a try. May massage along the main road, the girls will call you from outside, but I am not sure if you can get anything than a face massage. Try and tell us !
I would agree with Erik, nothing special at Bai Chay except rip-off. There is some actions at the small island opposite of Bai Chay. Take the Taxi to Quang Ninh ferry port, 5 – 10 min. from the Bai-Chay’s Ha-Long tour ferry port. Take the ferry to the other side of the shore, then heading to the right-hand side direction when you off the ferry. For about 1/3 miles from the ferry, you should be around the super market and the old Buddish temple, at the foot of the “ Poem mountain “, area. There are several of coffee shops and barber shops along the street behind the super market and at front of that Buddish temple. Went to Danang for the first time last week. It's not really worth a visit but the beaches are nice and there are a couple of clubs. There's a place called Tommy's which is on the river, and it's packed with hostesses. Hue: not much action here. A cyclo driver promised me "lots" of girls and took me across the river to a house with one sleeping old lady. I think that he got the lady to call a girl because after a few minutes he told me she was on the way by motorscooter. She didn't appeal to me at all so I had him take me back to the tourist area even though he was eager to have them call more girls.
