Universidad Ricardo Palma has 40hs/weekly X 4 weeks individual program. Excellent, but it's in Surco.

Anyone outhere have any recomendations? It seems miraflores is the hot spot and Surco is to far away. I intend to stay for at least 6 months, studying 4 weeks/travelling amusing Peru 4 weeks X 3. I think it's a better choice than having classes 2 hours a day for the whole period, even if it's much cheaper. Especially during the summer 4 X 4 gives you a lot of time to travel and meet people, at least it was so in Buenos Aires. Tons of pretty girls on summerholiday dec-feb gives you a lot of opportunities, instead of being locked up for those 2 daily hours at the universities.

Surco is a 6 soles ($2) taxi ride each way and about 10 to 15 minutes depending on traffic. So practicality will depend on your budget. I live in Miraflores and frequently go to Surco. No problem.

Music in Spanish keeps waking me up but I am too tired to open my eyes so I keep dozing back off. About noon I finally open my eyes. Romy is next to me flipping through TV channels. Dammit woman, don’t you need to sleep, I asked. She said that she couldn’t sleep. I told her that I needed to go to a store where I could buy a SIM card. She told me that they cost about 30 soles and asked why I needed one. So you can call me of course, I responded. We took showers and got dressed. We went three floors down by way of the stairs and went outside. She remembered that she had to get her ID. She went back in, but there was no one at the front desk. After twenty seconds a male desk clerk showed up and we had to show him the drawer where the lady the night before had left the ID. We retrieved the ID and started towards the other end of Kennedy Park where she thought Ripley’s department store was.

She admitted later that she was confused, so we entered the Saga department store which also sells SIM cards. We went directly to the Claro kiosk which was immediately to the right of the entrance door. The representative said that the SIM card costs 30 soles and would remain active for 6 months without recharging. That would work for me. She wrote a code and a price on a small piece of torn paper and said that I needed to pay at the bank of cashiers. When my turn came, the cashier seemed to have problems with my credit card. An older gentleman who was waiting about three people behind me became agitated and thought that he shouldn’t have to wait in line with everyone else because he was in a hurry. They finally got the card to work. I returned to the Claro kiosk with my receipt and the representative opened a new SIM and inserted it in my Quad phone. Romy called the operator to activate the chip for me. They wanted a name, address, and id number. But since I am not a citizen they settled for a name and passport number. It took less than two minutes. Welcome to Claro. The rep said that it comes with 15 soles of time and 100 texts but it would vary depending how I used it. (Claro-to-Claro and land lines use less money/time for talking.) Now a player does not have to spend so much money on the hotel phone or the public telephones.

I stop at a newsstand to buy a 20 soles recharge to add to the phone. The lady who ran the stand asked Romy where I was from. She told her that I was American. I jumped in and told the 60+ year old woman that Romy was American as well. We walked off leaving the grandmother believing my lie. We stop in to eat at one of my favorite Miraflores/Parque Kennedy restaurants. I have a big regular steak and she has to settle for a junior baby beef. Because she did not finish the regular size last time, she knows that she is strictly on kid's portions with me. Add in two Inca Kolas and the cuenta is a grand total of about 40 soles. It is now 2pm and she has to be at work at the casino at 3 for an eight-hour shift. I shove her into a taxi and walk across to the park. I run down my list of non-pros in addition to the pro from TR the night before. Everybody is fucking busy at the moment. Well isn’t that just Murphy’s Law in full effect? But at least I was able to distribute my new phone number. I go look for an internet café and find one for 2. 50 soles per hour.

Visited the famed RYV today across from Interbank. Girls ranged from 5-9s.. one spoke ingles and was definitely a 9 but was not available.
