Research on TJ sex workers
Hi guys,
I am reading a fascinating book called "Sex Work and the City:
The Social Geography of Health and Safety in Tijuana, Mexico" by Yasmina Katsulis.
I think it's a must-read for anyone interested in the subject - it is a well-conducted research.
Re: The Sex Work and the City narrative
Efjayel,
I am posting the link that might give you more insight on what the book is about and some of the topics it discusses. The book is pretty sizable and well researched, and I would give an injustice to the author to try to summarize it in several insights; plus I am still reading it

By the way, I found it at the local college libray by sheer accident, and I am sure that you can find a copy this way, too. I am not a student, but college libraries allow anyone to check their materials out.
TJ Health Card 2009? Held by Chica, Manager or both?
http://books.google.com/books/utexaspress?id=LG0ddgALFAsC&printsec=frontcover&source=gbs_ViewAPI
Chapter 5 indicates the manager having the cards for health inspectors. Has anyone seen a TJ Health Card of HK, AB, CC or SW chica recently without going to the manager's office?
Clarification request:
Thank you, gentlemen, I am always happy to help.
I can also mention that one of the main things I learned from the book is that a working girl's STD status, in particular HIV, isn't connected much to her work but to her behavior in her leisure time. Especially, the book's findings showed that women who use drugs in their off-time (whether IV or smoking meth etc.) are at much higher risk. So please ask for health cards and chat up a girl a little to find out more about her. It could help you avoid life of pain and suffering.
Can you scan the tables & figures with credit in jpeg format? Thx. S7

TJ Health card updated monthly - color code or date sticker?
My guess the monthly update is reflected on the TJ Health Card some how. Request to see TJ Health card of the provider might cause a stir since high percentage of the providers risk working without it according to 2001 TJ sex practice survey.
My experience in HK is that the girls do not carry their cards. I assumed that management held them. I accompanied one, a while back, to get her exam and renewal. Afterwards, she gave the card back to whoever was in charge. I've also seen a HK doorman checking girls in at the beginning of their shift. He had a whole thick stack of health cards.
OTOH, I've had chicas in CC pull them out of their purse.
