Case 744 reported by Ministry of Pubic Health 24-March, American Male aged 69 described in Thairaith as having chronic kidney disease, admitted to hospital in Buriram 9 March, intubated 23 March (which ties in with your post of 26 March), passed 7 April as death number 30. It was around 23 - 24 March that the previous requirement for all positive tests to be re-tested at a second laboratory in Bangkok was removed as it was taking the best part of a week or more to get confirmed results, resulting in a surge in the case count around then as the dam was removed. I'm not defending this, just telling how it was.

As to the Dijon oceanfront property, I'm afraid it just doesn't cut the moutarde.

I realize the signal-to-noise ratio here is sometimes poor. But judging by his most recent post, Mr. Travel skipped a few salient points.

TIMING -- My personal view is that January of 2021 is too soon. I just don't think the virus concerns will have receded by then. I know he says he has a "deposit." But I recommend caution. Better to forfeit a hotel deposit than sink good money after bad.

HOTELS -- You realize there's a separate thread for hotel information, right? I've long recommended the Whitehouse Condotel for first-timers, mostly because the location is so good. Search my my prior reviews.

SOI 6 -- You seem to have the impression that oral sex is available in the bar, in a semi-public setting. While I'm sure that's occurred in the past, it's not commonplace. Indeed, an increasing number of Soi 6 bars are open to the street these days. Finally, as you noted elsewhere, the soi is crawling with people recording the scene. If you want a blowjob from a Soi 6 girl, you'll probably have to pay the bar for a short time room upstairs and retire there. If doing it in the bar proper is your thing, check out the Soi Bongkot gentlemen clubs.

HOOTERS -- It's not on Walking Street, it's considerably farther north.

MONEY -- You're free to measure relative value against what's available in the United States at USA Prices. But please know this will draw the ire of The Pattaya Price Police, who argue (with some logic) that it's a micro-economy that should be evaluated in isolation from what adult fun might cost elsewhere in the world. I *generally* agree that for your typical guy on holiday it doesn't make sense to haggle too hard over 500 baht here or there. But as the Thais say: Up To You.

FOOD -- There is quite a bit of food discussion here. You must have scrolled past it. Check out the food stalls on the west side of Soi Buakao, just north of Tree Town for a wide selection of farang-friendly chow with tables and chairs to eat. If you're jetlagged your first few days (and who isn't?) check out the Casa Pascal breakfast buffet. You're welcome.

MAPS -- I realize it's heresy in this age of Google, but buy an old-fashioned map today and study it while you prepare for your trip. You'll get a general idea of where things are more easily than you would looking at a map online. I recommend the Groovy Map of Pattaya, which you can buy from Amazon. And don't forget to learn where the major baht buses run.

I don't have a deposit yet; I have a flight booked, but I grabbed it on a super flash sale. I got Delta one from the states for about 8 x lower than the usual cost. I can cancel if needed, and would only lose about $300 USD. I don't have a hotel yet. It's that he is there, now and dependable. I'm also guessing he treats the girls in a tolerable way so that they can provide positive references to their friends. I'm no expert on LOS but in the Philippine boards I've often commented that there are three pricing levels: Fresh of the plane big spenders; Repeat visitors; and Resident spend thrifts. I know many girls who are slinging 3000 P 30 minute STs to just arrived Chinese and 500 P afternoons to resident Dive Masters when the power bill is due. Like Mr E, the girls know that they can call up these guys at short notice and walk away with pocket money or bills paid regardless of if it's high season or not or if their bar is full or empty.

For some of us, it is paying more than that for what is generally available in Pattaya that is unbelievable. If some reasonable standard combination of youth, looks, demeanor, skills and cooperation is the goal, that is. I'm sure there must be FLs in Pattaya who command thousands of baht for LT and can afford to say No to 1,200 baht offers left and right until they get their price. Somewhere.

It can even be done with some regularity in the lower Sukhumvit and Patpong areas of Bangkok if you put your mind to it, are almost constantly on the hunt and aren't too picky about age, weight, overall looks (yes, facial attractiveness is a biggie in this regard) and skills.

For the most part I pay freelancers in Bangkok 2,000 - 2,500 baht for LT. I can't remember the last time I agreed to pay more than that except for a lovely Vietnamese girl I met online over a year ago to whom I paid about 7,000 baht for a dream LT where my every sexual wish with her was fulfilled between 10pm and 12Noon the next day. I would go to 3,000 baht for LT if the girl was enticing enough and she would not budge.

I prefer LT over ST. But when I do a ST it generally comes to 1,000 - 1,500 baht. Although I have agreed to as much as 2,500 baht for ST with a few Thermae girls.

However, there is one gigantic glaring and critical difference about my P4P experiences anywhere in Thailand that I don't believe applies to any other regular poster on these threads and therefore likely renders much of my stated price ranges irrelevant to anyone else; 90% of the time I require an upfront agreement to engage in BBFS+CIP from the P4P girls I approach or that approach me in person or online. Sometimes, but not all that often, an upfront agreement for BBBJ+CIM will be enough to close the deal for me.

That does not mean I choose a girl and then "go with the flow and see what happens in the room" and find myself scoring BBFS+CIP 90% of the time. Nope. That means I literally bring up the subject on the street, in the bar or club, online, you name it, and get a clear and unambiguous agreement from the girl that she would be fine with engaging in that with me before we so much as take that first step in the direction of my room.

So I think we are really talking about a much higher "ask" of the girl in my situation than most other punters would ever dare. I doubt there are many punters out there doing what I do in Thailand AND regularly negotiating it down to 500 - 700 baht for ST and 1,200 baht for LT. Not with girls most of us would be willing to touch with a barge pole, that is. Although I am sure there are anecdotal exceptions.

All that said, for years now about half the girls I have had in Bangkok were non P4P girls with regular jobs who got upset if I mentioned paying them for it beyond a token 100 - 200 baht for their taxi travel to and from my place. Right up to today. Naturally, that reduces the costs for sex that I've mentioned considerably. But that doesn't exactly pertain to the P4P issue.

Price shaming needs to stop.
