Margarita Station News
The October 2008 issue is out. Sounds like "trouble in River City."
Some new bars and hotels and changes. Crime reports increasing but it's still supposed to be safe for mongers.

Interesting reading.

Real Street & Koreans
There has been some chatter lately about the Korean invasion of AC. Enough has been said about their arrival in AC in the cultural differences they bring with them as they arrive in greater numbers. I think most of us realize what their arrival means to AC and how it will affect our lives there. I even experienced a little of it last year. My buddy and I went into a bar on Real Street, I think it was Agasya but it could have been one of the places next to it. The place was full of Korean's. We had a hard time getting a drink. It seemed like no waitress wanted to to serve us and the GRO's and dancers were staying away from us. It did not take me long to realize white boys were not overly welcomed in the place.
My question for you fellow mongers is, have all the bars on Real Street started catering to the Korean crowd? I will be back to the land of LBRPFM in November. I was hoping someone can provide me with a very recent update, like within the past month, of the bars that cater primarily, (or only) to Koreans. It will save me the hassle of wandering into them and upsetting the Korean or the ladies who prefer their company to white boys.

PL,
While I haven't been to AC, I thought I would give my 2 pesos worth of info here.
I have lived in Korea for about 10 years now, and know from my experiences here, that the Korean men will easily be willing to spend a lot more money than the American will. Because of this fact, the BG's will always ignore the Americans when there are Koreans in the bar throwing money around like it's candy. Most of the Filipinas I have talked to here, say they hate the Korean attitude and smell. But they flock to them, and even marry them for the money.
This sounds like what is happening there in AC. The Koreans, much like the rest of us, have also discovered that their money will buy much more in the Philippines than it can buy in their home country. Therefore, they have a big Philippines tourism push going here. Most of them don't know how to speak English or Tagalog. But they don't care. Most things in the Philippines, to include the pussy, are at bargain basement prices compared to Korea. I don't think you will see an end to this invasion anytime soon.

Real St.
Agasya is fairly famous (or infamous) for that. Most of the other places in the Real area are fine as far as I know. Byrd Cage and Body Shop, to name a couple, are both good bars, popular with both tourists and local expats.

HW
How is this limited to Koreans?
Do Japanese, Mainlanders, or Hong Kongers not go to AC?
I'd say that Mainlanders have replaced all Asian countries in terms of spending excessively.

Just some thoughts
How is this limited to Koreans?
Do Japanese, Mainlanders, or Hong Kongers not go to AC?
I'd say that Mainlanders have replaced all Asian countries in terms of spending excessively.
I am not overly prejudiced about this Korean invasion of AC. I am just selfish when it comes to one of the nicest places that is still remaining on the plant for mongers like myself. I do not profess any of us are better than anyone else. I have heard about this Korean arrogance, (prejudice), but have only experienced a little of it. I always assumed I just ran into a few asshole Koreans. It never occurred to me that most of them are just as rude and xenophobic. Yet, the cultural differences we have posted about do exist. I have no problem with the Asians enjoying their own continent. I think there are more than enough women in AC for all of us. However, the Koreans, and to some extent the Japanese, have come into AC and their willingness to throw money around will eventually affect all our pocket books. They either do not understand the concept of costs effectiveness or they just don't care. This concerns me more than the perceived rudeness or prejudice I perceive from most of them. I know this is a stereotype, but it is my perception of them given my limited experience with their culture. For all I know, they think I am an asshole too.
I have met some Japanese in Manila and AC. They do not seem to be as stand offish. The language barrier is still there, but they smile, laugh, and appear somewhat friendlier to us white boys than the Koreans. I am not sure how the Asian men treat black people, but I assume it is worse for them than it is for a white boy like me.come to think of it, I do not think I have seen more than 20 black men in my entire 10 years of mongering in AC. Maybe they are there, I just do not see them. (Probably because I am busy looking at the women.)
Bottom line, AC is changing and I do not think it is for the better.

Escape Plan
I need some help getting out of the airport in Manila. My flight comes in at 9:55 from Tokyo on Tues and I strongly suspect my CB girl will be waiting at the airport to imprison me. I know now I should of never told her details of my arrival but its to late for that now. I'd like to see her again, but I want to have fun in AC as well. I didn't get to AC last time I was there and only went to Bora with her. I want to see this girl because she is so fine but I don't want to spend my whole time locked down with her. I can't seem to get out of this. I'm even afraid to go to L. A Caf area because she might hunt me down there. Works not to far from there in office. I think if I can get to AC without her seeing me outside the airport terminal I should be good. I'm thinking maybe some fake glasses with a big nose and a mustache? Any help would be appreciated. My flight leave tomorrow.

Korean

I think Korean like the Philippines because is cheap and there are many Koreans own business here.
Most Japanese like Thailand better, maybe because they hate the Jap here.
There are some Chinese business men in Manila, but not many from mainland or Hong Kong come here.
AC is not for everyone. It is so boring in the day time, there's nothing to do.
You can only go mongering at night, but it is a cheap place to spend a few days.

Koreans
So what, folks? Let them come! There are still more than enough bars in AC where non-Koreans are served properly! However, I never felt bothered by any of them!
Cheers!
Hesekiels
To Hesekiel,
The South Korean enconomy is growing the last 15 yr and there are a lot of Koreans that have money to travel.
You see many tourists all over Asia and even Europe.
The Cheap Charlies go to AC to play, and the high rollers go to Macau and Hong Kong to mongering and gamble.
Mongering is expensive in Korea and Japan, so this is cheaper for them.
Yes, most girl in AC I talk to don't like the Koreans. They have bad manners and don't know how to respect a lady.
