The most dangerous place for westerners, with the highest mortality rate, is your household kitchen. Yet you still use the kitchen. You accept the risk.

Same with bareback sex. You assess the risk.

There is a lot of obscuration of the facts surrounding HIV. The main one is the implication that unsafe sex between heterosexuals is a high risk endeavout.

If you enquire at your local sexual health clinic, and get the numbers of reported cases of HIV, then subtract those who are homosexuals, and subtract those who are intravenous drug users, the infection rate is very small.

The likelihood (a statistical term) is almost negligible. Far lower likelihood than you dying in your kitchen.

I am not a condom user, and I have more than a few years and womenundre my belt. I get tested for every form of STD evry time that I return from a trip.

I have never been infected, with anything.

And I suspect that the barebackers on this forum have the same experience. Any other barebackers care to relate their experiences.

Your government, and most governments, create a fear campaign, which is generic, without discriminating between hetero, homo, or IV drug users.

Get the facts, estimate the risks, then decide for yourself.

Um. If what you're saying about herero sex risk being negligible is true, then why does Africa have such high HIV infection rates? There it's mostly transmitted through heterosexual intercourse. And whole generations have been wiped out. Explain / rationalize this please. In North America the highest risk group may be drug users and homosexuals, but worldwide the most common form of transmission is through heterosexual transmission (this means many more people have gotten it through heterosexual sex than homosexual sex and drugs combined). I think you're the one that needs to go look up the stats buddy. Try to rationalize it all you want. But man it's friggin risky. And yes at the end of the day it's your choice. It's your own life. But do think of it like this: if she's willing to fuck you without a condom, then she's probably fucked a lot of other guys without one too. I wonder how many of you already have it and just don't care if you transmit it to others.

As a side note, my friend's mother is a doctor who specializes in infectious diseases. Many of her patients are people infected with HIV. Apparently even some of her colleagues are now her patients.
