Those who live here will tell you it's about disparity and the best services are only for the wealthy who have money. But this top healthcare system should make tourists feel safe. So their only hope is to convince the world that Thailand is a safe haven for those who want to get away from their disease ridden country as an escape. They had this strategy when all this started and instead of the Chinese born COVID-19, their blame was on Western and European countries for the spread. Because the government knew this was going to be a long ass ride, with the world going into a recession. Less money, combined with higher travel costs, and more travel restrictions, what's Thailand best hope for the return of tourists? Yep, the neighboring Asian countries. I just have one question: doesn't this pending economic disaster facing the tourist industry and all other related sectors of the economy add incredible pressure on the Government to open up the friggin' country? To put back up the welcome sign and let anyone who want's to visit, visit and bring their hard currency with them. Yeah, temperature test new arrivals - for sure - and look for visual signs of illness, but let the risk tolerant tourists back in now, before it is too late. Meanwhile, as the country reopens, tell grandma and grandpa to self isolate for the good of the nation. That is the path forward unless the politicians are willing to accept the prevention being far worse than the virus itself. But which country has the guts to open up 1st? HA HA. That is the real question.

I think I hit the nail if the head. Others on here too, have mentioned this was the strategy all along for the Thais because if their "blame the farrangs" mentality. Especially, coming out of the Health Minister's mouth. China used to be #1 and have dropped to #14 with regards to COVID-19 and probably even further as time keeps passing by. Plus a nice clause would perhaps just limit those in Wuhan from travel and not the rest of China.

Keep in mind, last year, the USA pulled back on a 1. 3 billion dollar trade exception with Thailand and it kicked in recently. Basically, 1. 3 billion in Thai imports to the USA are now higher taxed. Hey "look nobody wants to buy Thai made goods unless they were untaxed" was the message the USA wanted. This move was to discourage China from moving manufacturing jobs to Thailand. Thailand has then chosen its side with the Chinese. So much crap goes on in these back rooms at a political level, most ordinary citizens are left in the dark. You don't think a phone call was made between government officials to underreport or propagandize their COVID situations and numbers? Money is always on the mind of governments more so than lives of.

And health of its citizens. Ever seen those pics of the polluted factory cities in China with black silt covering its people? Just look deeper. It's no conspiracy theory, it's common sense. Money rules this world. Am I wrong or do you still think it's love and empathy for our fellow mankind?

How does this hurt Monkeypaw? Yeah, I'm Asian but my passports are USA and HK, both anti-China. Hong Kong does not have the same strong bilateral agreement as China. Guess, I got to pop into my back pocket and pull out the secret passport #3. Oh yeah, done that already. That's why I've been here which seem forever all along. Different names definitely helps. M. P. 's observation is pretty much on the money if not right on the money. Even before the Virus, I sat around telling anyone who would listen close to 10 years now there is a war coming with this country who would have known it would be a guy like Trump leading the charge! I've for years waited for a politician of any party to bring out what Trump and the Virus have today done expose China leaders.

When it comes to the trade war living here it wasn't just China or Thailand every region of the world was taking advantage of the USA This nonsense of "Global" was just a word if the Virus hadn't come the next target was our good old friends Europe. While the trade war was going on with the USA China had contracted with a number of smaller companies through the Thai leaders to ship goods from China and have it packaged in Thailand and ship to USA To avoid the taxes imposed by Trump for China.

You go to the shelves of markets like Big see, Lotus, Tops, Foodland you can see the mark up of 40% for American name products. I had a good conversation with the wife the other day if everything was the same price would you buy Thai or American. I brought over over USA Top-grade T-Bone steak it was gone in one day I've had Thai beef you get use to it but they know and it goes for most everything except their rice. I grew up with a Texas brand I had no problem with it? Whenever the girls at the GoGos know I'm going home I get calls for perfume!

Thailand leaders have made their choice every word out of their mouth leads to allowing China and other Asian countries (ASEAN) special treatment they have shortchanged their own people daily and now with the Virus I hope they see their true colors and do something about it instead of following like sheep. This Virus allows their leaders to get a tighter grip on the country by keeping it shut using emergency decree!

I even mentioned in a recent Pattaya trip FR that a farang friend I was with who could not have been a more chick magnet if he'd been the most popular young male movie and singing star in Thailand had exactly the same experience. He almost bailed out of Pattaya altogether by the second night from the annoyance of having so much bullshit "promise" and sales pitch thrown at him with virtually zero True GFE/Real Sex (BBFS+CIP) follow through, to a depressing degree he had never experienced in several years of living in Bangkok and Hua Hin. And he was prepared to pay a fair or even a generous amount for what he wanted.

I probably should mention this. We both were trying our best to only focus on girls of a certain minimum level of overall attractiveness while we were there, itself a major challenge in Pattaya. No, I don't mean they had to be super stunners. Not at all. Just a certain minimum of acceptability worth the trip and effort.

There is no doubt anyone can cruise through Pattaya and identify one lady after another who could not afford to allow a BBFS+CIP request or any other request pass her by any time of day or night for any amount of money. As is the case everywhere else. But we did not approach those ladies and only tried our best to extricate ourselves from their clutches and attention as politely as possible.

I fully understand your view and how things work in the world especially in regards to the superpower and satellite thing. Here is the difference as far as I'm concern I grew up spending a lot of summers in Hong Kong and in my adult years spend time in China even before real capitalism was introduced to them with the four economic zones. Maybe it was my destiny because I loaded up with Chinese / American / Consitution courses to keep me out of the draft.

I have no problem with someone else becoming the leader of the world other than the USA In spite of America not being perfect do their share of nation-building but this has been going on long before there was any America. In today's world I still would like them to lead if any of you want China or Russian I say knock yourself out!

You use the word " Challenge " it might apply somewhat with Russia in space I'm sure both did their share of stealing but when it comes to how China got here today to say the challenge is far with what they did? What they did and still doing is lie cheat and steal their way to the top and that doesn't include killing their own people and spying every chance they can by sending students into the USA To steal our technology.

In the last year, they have caught a dozen spies working in government projects it might be too late to even stop them unless they just plainly close off all Visa for Chinese wanting to study here. You want to lead do it by leading not stealing. What bothers me and I've said this long ago sooner or later it is going to catch up to the rest of us Chinese Americans who are here legit fought for America like my father and Uncle in WW2.
