Observation: When the hotel takes a joiners ID it is really a security measure for both of you and not necessarily a bad thing. You can have them call the room before giving her back her ID to make sure you are ok. Security can check the ID to see if it is legit and if she is of legal age, as a BR freelancer unwilling to produce ID is a red flag and a no go for me. And it is a form of security for the ladies too knowing the hotel is aware they are visiting.

Ultimately I view it as more of a service than it is a hinderance but as always YMMV.

Fast eddie 48.[/QUOTE]I have no issue with having the front desk of any hotel take a girls ID. But what if she's of legal age but doesn't have a legal ID? Will the Marriott give you the option to take her to your room or refuse to allow her past reception? I've stayed at the Sunshine hotel and the front desk girl told me it was up to me, which was fine by me. I took her to my room twice and had a blast both times. I've also stayed at the Greenview on walking street and knew the girl didn't have ID (was told by the gogo mamasan) but took her up to my room anyway, making sure the girl stayed on the other side of me as I waved to the front desk person.

Has anyone ever had a hotel refuse entry to a girl without ID?

I'll post a photo of the girl, you guys can guess her age (she said she was 25). Again, I'll point out that the ID question is always asked. One case though the girl said 'yes she had ID' but at the hotel pulled out a photocopy of an ID that wasn't accepted. So you buy the girl a few drinks, bar fine her and out comes a photocopy. What are the options if the girl looks of age but doesn't have proper ID?

Some of these gogo barfines are pretty steep, i'd hate to get all the way back to a hotel on the other side of the strip only to find out she doesn't have an ID. Imagine paying a 1000 baht barfine on a girl who's clearly of age but who doesn't have her ID and the hotel refuses to let her pass the front desk. Again I ask, do you ask each girl to show her ID before you barfine her? Or do you just spend the extra for a short time hotel room?

I don't know the answer to your question, but my guess is that they will refuse to let her in without a valid ID. The front office is often manned by at least 2-3 staff personnel, so it's probably not easy to "convince" them to see through their policy.

When I looked for an FL on Beach Road one day around lunchtime, the only one I met that I found doable was from Indonesia, so I passed on her for that same reason.

But you have actually BF'ed girls with no valid ID from gogo's. I'd expect that the club can get into serious trouble by employing girls without an ID, and if I experienced what you refer to, I would definitely take her back and ask the gogo for a refund, and I'd reckon that a lot of other guests would do the same, meaning a lot of constant trouble for the club. So I'm a little confused to what the chances are for BF a girl in a gogo without a valid ID.

There are girls available at every one of those bars, there's a good chance you'll run into a girl without ID. Are you drawn to a certain girl at a gogo and the mamasan push's the upstairs hotel? She probably doesn't have ID. I picked up a hottie from a gogo on walking street last trip, she was from Laos and had no ID. So its bound to happen.

As to the girl in the photo I posted, I got to thinking and I bet the front desk of the sunshine hotel said "up to you" was because they knew the girl was Thai and was definitely of age.

Let's try to make an educated guess: Soi 6 has about 60 bars and Soi 6 is really the ACME of bar-streets in Pattaya. One would be hard pressed to find another street in Pattaya with a similar number of bars.

Between Beach Road and Second Road from the North to Walking Street, there are about 30 soi. A quick check with Google Street view shows that the average soi has about 15 to 20 bars in it It is impossible to say they are all girly bars. Some of them may even be more restaurant than bar, some of them may cater to ladyboys or gays, but for the sake of making a rough Fermi estimate, let's keep it to 20 bars per soi.

That would give these sois a total number of bars of about 700, which is pretty impressive.

Then add the bars along beach road (3 km). To err on the large side, say there are 3 bars per 100 m, then that gives you, give'and'take, another 100 bars. Second Road is less "bar heavy" but has two sides, so we add 150 more.

Walking Street area doesn"t have that many bars (it is more agogo-land, disco and restaurants), but we'll be kind of them and allow 100 bars to be there.

What about the rest of Pattaya? You'll indeed find bars pretty much everywhere, but they get more and more rare once you cross Second Road, but we'll allow a generous 1/3th of the bars to be outside of the "core area".

Adding up everything: 700 (sois), 100 (Beach Road), 150 (Second Road) and 100 (Walking Street) = 1050 bars + 320 (rest of Pattaya) = 1370, say 1500 bars in Pattaya. This will be a high estimate.

Not bad for an area of less than 10 square km.

Can we estimate the number of bargirls from this?

Again looking at Soi 6 as a guiding light, most bars are pretty small. They may have about 10 girls available on the high average. A few are bigger, lots are smaller. As we are trying to establish a rough maximum here, that bring us to 15 thousand bargirls active at any one time. Taking into account that there will always be girls on vacation, day off, on their period or barfined already, stating that there are 20 to 25 thousand bargirls in Pattaya is not overly exaggerating things. The population of working girls in massage parlors and agogo clubs, the coconut-bar girls and the guild of free-lancers of less than professional stature could easily swell this number to 30 to 35 thousand girls busy at The Game.

So now anyone who complains that there are "not enough girls in Pattaya" can be referred to this post and rest assured.

It also make you realize that being a bar-owner in Pattaya is not the goose with the golden eggs.

From an economics point of view, say every bargirl (30000 bargirls only; we try to estimate a lower limit here) gets only one customer a day and charges him the modest fee of 1000 baht, Pattaya alone generates almost 11 billion baht per year in prostitution related income. Adding barfines, drinks, hotel costs and other sundry expenses, do you think I am exaggerating when I say that our hobby brings Pattaya close to 20 billion baht in income? All cheer for the mayor that wants to turn Pattaya into a family-oriented beach community!

In my line of work, I used to do these kind of analysis all the time. We called them "back of the envelope studies (or analyses)". We usually follow them with a more detailed study if the project is a go.

I know, for a fact, that a girl with no ID will NOT get into your room at Areca.
