I have experience all over the world, but never made it to Angeles City until now. On my first night, I drank in a half dozen bars, alternating between San Miguel Light and soda water, trying to stay hydrated and keep my wits about me.

From my reading, I had the impression that AC was the place for LT. Little did I know that LT in AC from one of the more attractive bar girls is apparently very unlikely. Doubly true for the younger fresher girls. A street girl, with the attendant risks of STD, would probably be thrilled to spend the whole night in a clean pleasant hotel and share breakfast with you and might only charge 2 k, but the bar girls won't be. They are planning to head back to the bar for guy number two, just like in Nana in Bangkok. Left Lollipop and moved on.

Went to Geckos next door, then Avalon (which had a halfway decent light show and choreographed dancing), then Lucifer's and Masqerades, Club Sky, and Carousel. I probably stuck my head in 10 bars and had drinks at 6. I repeated that pattern each night. For the most part, the range of girls seemed similar between the bars, with maybe some slightly prettier ones at Lollipop. I believe it was Geckos that had more homely older girls, but that could just be my timing. I went in Champagne multiple times on multiple nights are there was only one or two girls on stage. Two different girls in two different bars happily took a lady drink and we chatted. I eventually starting discussing bar fining and they proceeded to tell me that they were menstruating. Overall, the bars seemed to vary more by the size and ambiance rather than the quality of the girls. Some bars were big with dance shows and lots of girls (50+), some bars were tiny and had only 8-10 girls, some bars were deadsville with only one or two girls. There are plenty of other bars with the same quality of girls. These bar managers need to know that they are losing business before they will change their ways and defend their customers. The rest of my trip, I avoided Lollipop like the plague.

The highlight of all of the girls for me was a girl named May from Skyfall. Skyfall was a very friendly bar with tons of girls around 7 pm and the girls were punchy and flirty. I knew that BBFS is common in Angeles and I didn't want to bring any bugs home with me, in case of condom malfunction etc. I had already researched DoxyPrep, which is basically antibiotic coverage for syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. You take one 100 MG tablet of doxycycline per day. Regular PREP is two antivirals in one pill (Truvada) that you take daily to prevent HIV infection. I wanted to be protected by both Prep and DoxyPrep. So, I searched on the internet and found the STD clinic called "Bale Angeleno". You can find it in Google maps, about 10 minute walk from Walking Street. Just walked in, and told them that I wanted PREP for unprotected holiday sex. They drew my blood and performed an HIV test, syphilis test, and hepatitis test. Gave me the results (negative) in about 15 minutes. They also needed a recent creatinine test to prove I had good kidneys to handle the medicine. Thankfully, I already had the results on my phone from my last checkup. However, when the nurse sat down to dispense the meds, she asked about where I was from, and basically told me that their free Truvada supply is only available for people who can't afford it (not American tourists, for example). She referred me to the "Lakan Community Center", another 15 minute walk away. I tried to offer money, but she wouldn't or couldn't take it. Funny side note: Apparently, the downstairs part of the Bale Angeleno clinic is for educating the bar girls and performing their required screening tests. I tried to approach the desk there, and saw a few dozen girls watching a "hygiene" slide show of closeup pictures of genital warts. The front desk girl directed me upstairs to the STD clinic instead.

So, I walked to the Lakan Community Center next. They were surprised that the first clinic sent me there, because their Truvada supply was also free (and also presumably targeted at people who can't afford it). Again, I offered to pay for it or donate money to the clinic, but they wouldn't or couldn't take it (the box of Truvada specifically says that it can't be sold) and eventually just gave it to me for free. They also gave me special info about getting my free monthly supply refilled (they were assuming, I guess, that I planned to reside long term in AC). I felt a little guilty taking free medicine, but I tried multiple times to pay for it and they refused. In the end, I figured that it benefits the Philippines to have mongers use PREP to protect the bar girls and didn't feel as guilty. Seems to me that they should open a PREP and DoxyPREP clinic for tourists and charge some reasonable amount for the service, then use the money to fund more coverage for poor Filipinos. If you want to use PREP, I would suggest that you try to secure some Truvada in your home country, but barring that, I thought I would post my experience so other ISGers can protect themselves and the girls. Be aware that a high percentage of AC bar girls who offer BBFS are not on birth control and expect you to practice coitus interruptus, pull out at the last minute, and deposit on her belly. Like a Catholic high school dance in 1965. What's the point of that? The moment of supreme pleasure is ruined by that. Better to use a condom and maybe skip the PREP altogether if that is what is meant by BBFS in AC. Angeles City has been described on ISG as a "shithole", and that does pretty accurately describe the Fields Avenue area. The sidewalk is busted up with puddles of fetid liquid and two foot deep holes perfect for breaking your ankle, aromas of urine and burning plastic in the air, homeless drug addicts sleeping against the buildings, motorcycle trikes everywhere with the noise and pollution, and the area has basically nothing worthwhile except the bars. The shops are nasty little subsistence survival shops with the bare bare essentials. They have storefront "drugstores" where they lock cheapo shampoo behind glass, like a precious jewel. You will not want to pass your time "window shopping" in AC. The restaurants also largely look dangerously unappetizing, likely rife with coliform bacteria. I stuck to eating in Kokomo and the Thai place next to ABC Hotel. There is simply nothing to do in AC. No charm whatsoever. I am not exaggerating. NOTHING. I tried to go for a walk to the Clark Mall, which required crossing multiple lanes of highway traffic without any crosswalk, like the 80's Frogger video game. The mall was mostly lower end generic mall shops, with nothing luxurious or interesting, unlike the Greenbelt or Powerplant malls in Makati. They did have a movie theater. If I were stuck in AC long term, I would probably visit the theater daily, although I bet they only show brainless Hollywood car chases and superhero junk. The diet of AC (and the Philippines in general) is the most sugary food ever created. The mall had a special area for startup businesses, and I kid you not, every single one was a selling a sugary confection, like cupcakes or candy. No wonder the older girls look diabetic.

AC makes Pattaya look like an ultra-luxury resort destination. If you want sex everywhere and also have a pleasant daytime, and are planning to stay for more than a few days, for God's sake, don't come to AC. Just go to Pattaya. It is sex and pretty much nothing else here, and the sex is no better or cheaper than Soi 6. Go to Pattaya where you have legal weed and the bar experience hasn't been totally emasculated into a G rated model by Koreans lacking confidence with sexually active girls. Plus Pattaya has beaches and great Thai food and cool Buddhist temples.

ABC Hotel:

The ABC hotel is the most amazing oasis on the edge of this hellhole. The rooms are practically soundproof, tastefully luxurious, and the pools and outdoor areas are like a literal oasis. It is like an alternate reality from the squalor of Fields Avenue. For what you get, it is a seriously good deal. The restaurant is very good, with healthy breakfast options and great coffee. They have two different bank ATMs in the lobby, so you can snag cash before throwing yourself into the chaos outside. If you tell a bar girl or mamasan that you are staying at ABC, they will light up. Most of the time, I just walked back and forth from ABC to the bars. It is kinda silly to get a motorcycle trike, since you can walk it in 5-10 minutes, and the trikes look like a severe injury just waiting to happen. The rooftop swim club and bar is off the charts great. Really like a top notch resort pool at a chic resort. Sitting by the pool, looking at the girls that the other guys have brought, reading a book, swimming, sunning yourself, having cocktails, eating very good and healthy food. The owner of ABC hotel should be made mayor of AC and fix the rest of the filthy squalor. I've been to poor countries around the world, and so many of them have a sense of pride and beauty despite the poverty and you can see it in their faces, but not AC. Angeles City is just depressing. I mean, for god's sake, Laos is one of the poorest countries in the world, yet Vientiane and Luang Prabang are among the most beautiful and charming places to visit. Maybe put in some decent sidewalks, some clean safe parks, make plans for some other tourist attractions. ABC Hotel pretty much saved my experience of AC. Without it, I would have felt like it was the worst decision in the world to visit AC. I felt imprisoned in AC, nothing to do and surrounded by squalor. If you stay at ABC, at least your cage is gilded.

Strategy / Planning:

By the end of a few days, I had tried almost every single bar on "Walking Street" (which is basically just an extension of Fields Avenue). I doubt that any precise description of a specific bar on the night I visited would matter to you. The girl quality in a given bar seems to change by the hour. As I mentioned earlier, the only meaningful difference is the ambiance of the bar: Stick your head in past the curtain. If you like the vibe, then sit down and look at the girls for a few minutes and order a beer or soda water. It's basically $3 US to sit for a while. Budget $20-30 bucks and you can try out 8-10 bars. I often left after only a few sips of my beer, when I realized that none of the girls appealed to me. Glad that soda water is an option. With all of the beers, I'm at risk of growing a beer belly. I had read that the shows at XS are worth your time, and I guess I agree, but when I spoke to the mamasan, she couldn't find a single girl that I liked and who would go with a western guy. None. So, XS is fine for watching the show, but not for bar fining. According to one of the girls, the XS bar is owned by an American (guess all of the Wolfpack group of bars have the same American owner) and the manager is a Korean, and the girls really like the American owner. Regardless of ownership, the girls don't like to bar fine with Americans.

Since there is literally NOTHING to do in AC, plan to hang around the pool at ABC during the day and read a book or go to Clark mall and see a movie, then go to the bars early. Some open as early as noon, in fact I think one or two are open 24 hours. The "better" ones open at 6 pm. Squeeze in your early dinner at 5 pm, then hit the bars. Since LT with a decent bar girl is seemingly mythical in AC, I would aim for 2ST girls instead. One early, around 8-9 pm after a few hours of bar hopping. Then, girl number two around 11-12 midnight.

By the way, I tried the massage place on Walking Street named Tarana Gookje. It was clean and pleasant and located upstairs across the street from Masquerade. Guess what? Two hours of foot and body massage and they don't offer extras! That's right. "Not allowed, sir. There are girls outside for that. " Crazy. I somehow found the only massage place in AC that doesn't offer a HJ ending.

For daily budgeting, with an exchange rate of 55 pesos to the US dollar, I would figure the following:

AC hotel $120.

2 bar girls at 5 k each $182.

10 Beers or soda waters $25.

Lady drinks for 6 ladies $38.

3 meals at ABC hotel's in house restaurant at 800 k each $43.

That's a total of $408 US dollars per day for all expenses and sex with two girls and (if you choose one of American style bars) some nice lap dances and handsy explorations of 6 girls. The lady drinks at the Korean bars get you nothing but a girl sitting next you being "proper" and meek. Yes, of course, you can be much much cheaper, but why travel to a shithole to treat yourself like shit? The ATMs in the Philippines seem to max out at 10 k per day, which should cover your bar girl expenses, but not enough to cover your hotel and restaurant expenses. You would most likely use a credit card for the hotel and in house restaurant, but you might want to open a second checking account so that you can get enough money out to cover your fun by drawing 10 k x 2 = 20 k per day.

That's not cheap, but compares favorably to most places, except perhaps the Santa Fe red light district of Bogota, which has to be the cheapest sex destination I've ever visited. Was around $6 for 20 minutes before the pandemic, as I remember. Would I return to AC? Nope. The only scenario that I could envision would be a blow out bachelor party type event at ABC hotel with a group of guys. It would be pretty ideal for that. You could pretty much just camp out at ABC and just pick up girls from the bars and enjoy the big pool bar. I'm sure you could find a similar luxury resort type hotel with a fun pool bar in Pattaya. I've just never looked.

Otherwise, the lack of any normal tourist potential just kills the appeal of AC for me.

I am getting ready to go to the airport now. I second the previous poster's observations 100%. The Fields Avenue area is dirty, dingy and largely depressing. I spent 80 pesos on adobo to feed to a starving puppy. That is the kind of place it is. That said, you can still have a great time mongering. Here are my general observations from someone who was previously there in 2010,2011 and 2016.

Perimeter Road mongering was a bust for me this trip. In 2010-2011, the great majority of my barfines were west of ABC hotel. The girls seemed friendlier and there was no lack of cuties. Plus you could start your day at 11 am and find a lot of quality until Perimeter died down and Fields picked up around 6 pm. A lot of those bars are closed now and the ones that remain open didn't have anyone that I would want to sleep with under any circumstances. They seemed to be places where grumpy old American expats could drink, play pool and complain about Koreans. Maybe Perimeter is still recovering from COVID but it is also possible that the clientele for Perimeter is dying off as the veterans from Clarke and Subic bases get old and start fading out. I had a few drinks at Garfields and talked to one of the aging bartenders about trends she sees in AC these days. Other than that, unless you are an AC history nerd, I wouldn't recommend mongering west of ABC.

Koreans are the driving force now. Korean restaurants line Fields Avenue and most of the bars are either Korean owned or managed. That said, money is money. I had one girl at XS say she only goes with Koreans but other than that, they all seemed available to me. I had several girls state that they specifically avoid Koreans just like some are into black guys and some will refuse a barfine for the same reason. People have preferences. In this regard it is not that different than 2011.

My first barfine was Kay from Tarlac at Club XS and she certainly had the "Korean" look. Evening gown, Asian style eye make up, ribbon in her hair and giving off very reserved vibes. As I am a history nerd, I was staying in Brass Knob for my first night before going to ABC (Brass Knob is super bare bones but manageable). She gave good service and then was out the door. Third was a girl from Viking Bar. Viking day shift is by far the hottest collection of girls I saw during my five days there. By far. Less than a third of the bars had anyone on staff that I wanted to fuck when I stuck my head past the curtain. At one point, Viking had 13 girls on stage and I would have happily had any of them. The girls are not as wild anymore. Most of them didn't even know what a "3-holer" was let alone entertain the idea of taking it up the ass. Most of them were still amenable to receiving rimming but beyond that, they threw the brakes on. I would still put AC head and shoulders above the FKK scene in Germany, the Campo scene in Curacao (RIP) or anything I have experienced in the US.

BUT you can also sign up for extra debit cards from a few different banks and move over the money you want to withdraw. This makes that $500 possible 500 x2 or 500 x3 some of these banks let you set a max withdraw limit. Wize is a good option for an extra debit card. When you return to your home country you can transfer the unused the funds back into your normal account. A robinhood debit card has a $1000 withdraw limit however ATM's themselves have a daily limit as well so you would have to hunt down another physical machine if your card has a higher limit than the ATM daily limit. I personally have 5 ATM cards that's about 4000 withdrawable per day for me.

Just as a caveat on payday almost ALL of the atms in AC will be out of cash and you'll have to line up at an actual branch ATM such as SM clark as they refill these as soon as they are out.

When I eventually get that SSRV I will do this. I have been declined about 5 times now for a gcash account I don't know if things have changed recently.

One percent goes to GC, and the other one percent goes to the cash-out facility. GC cashout can be done at most remit places such as Cebuana, M Lhuillier, and LBC; also at many other places: Family Mart, 7-11, PureGold, SM, Robinson's, Palawan, and RD Pawnshops.

Other locations, non-official GC outlets, charge exorbitant cash-out rates. Sari stores might charge 20% of your girl's cash-out. You send her p500, but she will only receive 400 at the sari.

You can also cash out at ATM's with a GC Mastercard (fees apply).

Technically, foreigners aren't eligible for GC accounts. However, money flows from foreigners bank accounts to his GC account (where there is an exchange rate loss for the foreigner), then to his filipina's account (no loss for anyone), and finally she will cash-out and GC will retain 1% of that. So I'm guessing that's why they allow permanent residents to have said account.

Another advantage of GC is that it acts like a debit card at many businesses where the business does not accept cards. Most pinoy with a phone now have a GC account. You can GC your taxi driver at the end of a ride. You can GC at many mall stores that don't accept cards. And in the market many vendors take GC now. They often have a picture of a QR code at the outlet; your GC app will scan the QR code, you enter the sale amount, the app confirms the vendor's name, and wala you have made your payment. Many Angkas and Joyride drivers accept GC.

GC is great for passing around money instantly to your girl, without fees. Previously you had to go to a remit place, fill out a form and so forth, and pay a fee. Or previously you would go online to your account in order to send, and pay a fee. Now you just send Jenny a quick pxxx when needed. The downside of GC is their fees on cash-in and cash-out.

GC is technically free, but you pay the price in the exchange rate.

I had to do two times because it didn't accept my selfie the first time for some reason. I'm not a permanent resident, but I do have a partner with an address in the province.

Gcash is really good. I send to my gcash account using Sendwave, and it is accepted by so many people. Even many market vendors in the province. And it is good for sending cash to people on short notice. As I said, the cash out rate for me was 15 pesos per thousand at a public market. And it is good for emergencies. My girl in Davao had to evacuate because of flooding a couple of days ago and forgot to bring her money with her. I told her to go to a hotel for her and her kid and ask about gcash. I paid for her room from the US using my verified gcash account. The next day, she cashed into her gcash and paid me back. To me, it is a lot like Zelle or cash app here in the US except that many businesses accept it as payment. If you're in the Philippines for a week or two, don't bother with it. But if you're a repeat visitor and are there for several weeks each year, it's so convenient.
