AW,
I think your Mother-in-Law was a pretty hot piece of ass as recently as 10 years ago. Actually she still looks pretty good, I'd still do her, have you?
JD
Hmm, you sure? Well I guess people have different taste.
BTW I kinda understad how you can pull alot of girls you actually look like a nice guy. Look like it hehe.
Not very good looking but a nice attitude. And in asia that is more then enough for most countryside girls I guess.
IFor guys in their 50's, it's important to be fairly slim and to dress well, girls will be ok with you then. But forget about big and fat and hairy with shorts and a singlet and sandals. No Sukhumvit Road style is acceptable here.
JD
This is good p4p and non-p4p advice in general, and really, extends to all age groups. I'm younger, rather skinny and for the last few days have been wearing jeans (stylist jeans) and long sleeve shirts normally rolled up to the elbow as opposed to shorts and t-shirts / singlets. While I'm not sure how much how much may be my own attitude, it has felt as if everything from bartering for moto fare to hitting on local girls is a lot easier to reaching an agreement on price with a working lady. Dressing respectably appears to have a big impact in your interaction with locals.
Dressing respectably appears to have a big impact in your interaction with locals.
That is definitely true, the 1st time I came to Vietnam was this summer. I was traveling with my mother that time, when I was changing at the hotel I wanted to wear board shorts and a wife beater since it was a billion degrees outside. Well my mom bitches at me and says here in Vietnam, even though it is hot a shit you have to dress up so people don't think your poor and look down on you.

A
Yeah, ok, so maybe I would not have done her either. But seeing her naked is the best way to know if your wife, her daughter will have stretch marks after childbirth.
Anyway, how do you know it was me that you met? I mean, I did not introduce myself as John Dao, did I? Just a guy, speaking Vietnamese, named John, with a nice camera and it's me?

JD
Well I wasnt 100% sure but after your reply I think I was right hehe.
Iv enjoyed your photos and reports for about 1 year (maybe more) so iv seen my fair share of clues, your body type, height (compared to furniture, not exact but.) and your age (again. Not exact). I know you speak good vietnamese, your american and that you wear glasses.
But what made me recognize you was your voice (when speaking Vietnamese) that I recognize from your videos.
After that I just put two and two together.
No sweat JD I won't post your picture. I enjoy your reports far to much.
Does anyone here have any experience with girls who work at the bars found on these streets? Bars like Voodoo and Chilli Pub on HTM or Kim's Bar on HTK?
JD
I have never been aware of P4P action from these places but I have had encounters in afternoons with gals from Chilli (when it was at Dong Du) and Kim's. There is another Kim's in a lane behind Thai Van Lung.

I realize that these places are not takeaway brothels in the same way that 91 or 49 are on HBT or Dong Khoi and vicinity. I know the bartenders are just that. But still, they are young and dress sexy and it is their job to be friendly and affectionate. At Kim's Hideaway on Thai Van Lung there are some FL (not connected to the bar) and some of the girls who do work there get very touchy feely at the bar and couch, raunchy even. Just wondering what the takeout possibilities are, if any. I like the looks of one of the girls at Kim's and also one at Kim's Hideaway.
If you can speak some Viet, and are younger looking I would suggest going with the freelance route, I have had no problem getting number of attractive young chicks. I don't think Viet girls here go for money as much as some of the other 3rd world asian countries, I've hardly seen ANY hot young girl with an older white guy here, only older chicks.
The problem is that there aren't *nearly* as many available hot 30-something women in HCMC as there are in, say, Bangkok (where you could easily line up a date per day, every day with girls in this category). It might have something to do with demographics, or the fact that Vietnamese marry more quickly.
Family / societal pressure are a huge deal in Vietnam. In Thailand, being seen with a white guy gains face for a girl, even if she's middle-class (if the guy is not a complete slob). In Vietnam it just raises suspicions and invites negative gossip. It seems to me, that even in a big city like HCMC, Vietnamese seem to care much more about their social circle (neighbors, family, coworkers) than in Bangkok, which is for many people way more anonymous, a bit like Western cities.
I have a sense that Viets can be just as money oriented and curious about foreigners as others, but in the tight-knit society, social stigma is feared more. However, if you don't make it public, they'd be just as eager. Too bad HCMC online dating sites are not very extensive.
[Apologies for if my rambling is off-topic, I'll make up for it with a field report next time I'm in HCMC]
OK, thanks AW, glad I won't have to wrestle your ass to the ground and kick it!
JD
Hehe good luck! (guess you didn't see me)
I keep a low profile when I'm with the extended familly, usually never speak to foreigners unless I know them.
One question though JD, why don't you open a nude photo business? It very popular among younger people now and it would be a great way to meet some chicks who arent afraid to get naked among other things.
Since I gave you a hearthattack ill share some you might already know, they have a bunch information sharing boards on the internet in Vietnamese that a few simple keywords will reweal.
All the prices iv seen is around 200-300k vnd for a session and pics, and those are young and decent looking.
They even write the phonenumbers.
And if your not afraid of the A1, go over the bridge and turn right (on the underpass to Thao dien) right at the beginning of the underpass they have those booths close to the river and its not hard finding the way to those. They have 3 ST hotells there with some girls and the "Booth" places also have some countryside girls that would prolly do the things you like to do.
I'll send you a pm when I get my subscription going again.

It takes time in Vietnam
Vietnamese seem to care much more about their social circle (neighbors, family, coworkers) than in Bangkok.
If you don't make it public, they'd be just as eager.
Very true observations. I reckon that guys who just turn up for a few days for the first time have a tough task. Except for HBT type bars its all more subtle than BKK. But once you have made several return trips, spent some time there, you find girls giving you their number and email quietly, and you find that many of those are very happy if you suggest traveling away from their home vicinity. Book a ticket and take them to another holiday destination within VN, and everything changes! Book a double room in the hotels away from their home town, and no questions are asked. She just checks in with you.
I think I have told the story before of one time my mate had to sign an affidavit sort of form at the hotel checkin, effectively signing that they are married or something close! I still laugh when I think of his face as he signed this piece of paper. (this happened back in the mid 90's.)
Make a decision to do several trips, get to know people, and it all starts to happen! Hotel staff, restaurant staff, anyone!

That sounds more like dating.
What happens when you take the "special" girl away on a holiday and she turns into a starfish or a *****, Your stuck with her till you get back or you cut her loose, then your back to where you started, minus the time and money wasted. Sure some guys prefer the thrill of the chase, the challenge and excitement but the reward may not be worth it.
The Thai P4P scene and to a lesser extent Phils and Indo seem to be the benchmark that other countries (inc VN) get compared to but then its like comparing oranges with limes, One will leave a sweet taste in your mouth, the other will leave you with a sour and bitter experience, Sure you can take it a few times but how long until enough's enough?
However if you can get that lime and combine it with something sweet, salty, peppery or hot then you will get a refreshing experience that won't be sour.
Having said that 90% of the experiences will be limes.
There is a active mongering scene here but you have to look for it, Its not shaking it ass in your face like you find in TLD.
Kinda defeats the purpose of mongering doesn't it?
That sounds more like dating.
I think vietnamese girls are hot, but never found the mongering scene to be great unless you have good connections who can provide quality women. It doesn't seem like a very user friendly place at all. I guess if you invest your time to make the connections and work the scene then it could be good, but that takes work and effort. If you're into the 18-21yo hot chick market, how much will it cost in time, energy, money? Is it not easier to just jump into thai, indo, phil and right away you got this market available to you at a reasonable price?
I'd like to explore more in vietnam, but I'm always turned off when reading on this board or talking to others who have already been there and report back that it's just so so.
