Havana

Sorry to post this in multiple threads on here, but I wanted to get advice from some more of the seasoned Havana mongers.

I will likely be making a monger vaca from June 29. July 4th and am waffling between Havana and Cartagena, I would love to hear some insight from seasoned experts. As a bit of background, I have been to Medellin 3 times and Cartagena 2 times already, and speak enough basic spanish that I have never needed a translator or had difficulty communicating in Colombia.

I am thinking about Cartagena or Havana because I love the working girl bar scene such as LDV and Electra, and it seems like La Cecilia and Salon Rojo would be similar types of scenes. That is my main criteria, having great clubs with a bunch of free lancing pros that are flirty, fun, and most importantly, smoking hot!

How would you rate the non-mongering activities in Havana vs Cartagena? I like to sight see, and hit the beach and relax during the daytime, maybe snorkel or jet ski, etc. Also, while on vacation I do sample "partying" a bit with the see readily in Colombia, is it possible to "party" at all in Cuba or is that a death wish?

Any advice or opinions would be greatly appreciated. I understand you can't be out in public with the girls in Havana and the fact that you need to stay in a private casa.

The building I was at only had water turned on during dinner hours, so that totally sucked. It's too hot to walk far before like 4pm and walking around Havana is a good portion of the fun during the day time. Like I said, I would never go there in Summer again, it sucked.

Things are looking more like Carta as I know my way around and will be able to make the most of my time. Thanks

Thanks[/QUOTE]I've never had a problem with the water-but I always stay in top end casas-by this I mean $60-70 per night. If you bargain hunt in the $30-$40 range you can expect some bullshit. Worse than no water is no air conditioning due to power "blackouts"-thunderstorms often cause blackouts in Havana and they have ruined many good days. I'm not sure what it is about Havana in July and August but it is F-ing hot. I don't even go out to the clubs because its too uncomfortable. Myself I try to minimize my travel during these month or go Medellin-Bogota where the weather is more comfortable. If it meets your budget, stay in a good hotel (Melia Habana) where theres a nice pool, and backup generators if theres a blackout.

On my last trip there I hooked up with 2 chicas from Santiago de Cuba on 2 separate occasions.

From the post seams like nice places Casa de la Musica, la cecilia, Salon Rojo or Rio Club. Which would be better to find something.

I ususally stay in 1 of the AI near guanabo, I will be making my way back their soemtime in May, it's great to hear that there is new opportunities the past 6 months in the town of guanabo itself (never found much luck there in the past) , I usually stick to chcicas from the beach or coming off the beach around 5-7pm, the highway in late afternoon around the EL trebol bar (is it still open and anyone pick up there recently?) and the casa club during the day.

This makes it quite difficult to pick up, but not impossible. Most girls won't even look at you let alone speak with you when the cops are around.

El Trebol is still open but it's dead as roadkill. Absolutely no action to be had there.

Your best bet is to go to Guanabo Club and / or Cabaret Guanimar, ALL the girls here are to be had for the right amount. Whatever you decide please DO NOT OVERPAY these bitches. Start at $20 CUC and DO NOT offer more than $30 CUC. Don't fuck it up for the next guy.
