The Red light district of Frankfurt
I visited Frankfurt recently to sample Treff-188 (http://treff-188.de/#top) and the Red Light District. This post pertains to the Red Light District.
I highly recommend staying at the Hotel Concorde (http://www.hotelconcorde.de/). It is mere minutes away from the main train station (you don't even have to cross the street. You can take the stairs / escalator down once you get off of the train and come up on the other side of the street). The Hotel is a boutique hotel and the rooms are well maintained and the staff is great. More importantly it is a 5 minute walk to the brothel houses and it averages $65 USD a night on Hotels.com.
The area where the brothel houses are is an interesting one. Strictly from an observing standpoint you have one of either types hanging around-young Turkish men, drug dealers and drug users. The latter group always seems to be in huddled groups. Though you will see these three types about they are harmless. I was never approached or accosted in anyway other than by a few beggars. The streets are a bit unclean which is different than what you expect in Germany. But you are in a Red Light District not Miami Beach.
The houses are on different streets. The way I could tell which houses were the brothels was by A. Men coming in and out of them B. Red doors or signs see. Red Numbers on the houses. You will not see women in the front of the houses or in the windows hanging about. Everything is behind the door from the street.
I can't remember the numbers on the front of the houses that I entered. But all the houses have several things in common. First you seem to have groups of young Turkish men in the houses. I saw very few Germans or others. Mainly Turks and Arab young men in groups. Again they never bothered or approached me. Second is the stifling heat. When you enter these houses it must by 85-90 degrees (30-32 Celsius). Why in Gods name these houses are that hot I will never know. It is very uncomfortable. I automatically removed my jacket upon entering the second house I went into because I learned from the first house I entered that I would be drenched in sweat climbing the stairs.
And the stairs. If you in any way have health problems, knee or leg problems etc you cannot come to these houses. The stairwell is so narrow two men cannot pass at the same time. You have to wait for the other to pass. And the number of steps from one floor to the next seems so excessive. I am in good shape and I was huffing and puffing. Some of the buildings had six floors I believe. By the time I got to the top I was so out of breath I could not have had sex if I wanted to.
Oh-one thing-some of these buildings have the top floors reserved for transvestites. I went to the top floors looking for the quality of the cheap 20 Euro sex I had read on this board. After going to the top of two houses and there were transvestites I never went to the top of any floor again. Its not my cup of tea.
The ladies were of all shapes and sizes. I saw blacks, blondes, fat, skinny, fake boobs real boobs. Everything. Some of them would acknowledge you and some would not. Some of them will sit just inside their room and some of them sit right at the doorway. Some of them even have their name on the door and what country they are from (I noticed the Dominican women did this a lot). I did not see any Asian women at all.
The rooms themselves are Spartan and frankly seedy. The rooms just smells of sex. The one lady I chose, who was kind and seemingly clean, kept her room up as best as she could. But the bed had seen better days, trashcan was full of toilet paper (wrapped up condoms) and of course the room was illuminated in a red light. Just really seedy. The Austrian I chose was nice and we even talked afterward. I had no interest in getting on that bed. It just seemed unclean to me. She seemed surprised I had my own condom but was happy about that. Maybe it saves her money or something. Anyway because of the bed condition I settled on a CBJ. I paid 30 Euros. She seemed so surprised I didn't want sex. Not on that bed I thought.
I think Frankfurts Red Light District is a must try. Will I return. No. Its just too seedy and it just feels unclean. Couple that with the heat and all of the stairs and its just not worth the effort to me.
Showdown.
