You only need to visit Beijing (although I live here), but the Chinese are still country folk at best. I can't believe they spit everywhere, in the subway, inside public buildings, bathrooms, etc. When I go to HK, they look at the mainlanders with disdain, like the plague. And one only needs to look at how the government acts in the world, using fear and threats, but also mistaking fear by other countries as respect. I think it will take the Chinese ten plus years to realize that few if any countries actually respect them.
I'm also in Beijing. Theres three things that bother me here (offset by some fair maidens who make life better! One is the endless spitting.
The other day I met someone who was new to China and said welcome to Spitland. He said what? I said well theres England, Newfoundland and now you are here in Spitland.
Then theres the smoking that goes on with total impunity. Every restaurant has no smoking signs and I've yet to see anyone follow it. "But sir, the guests will leave our restaurant if we don't let them smoke. ".
And the third is parking. These guys don't care at all. Park on pedestrian crossings, park on pavements, park in the middle of the road. No one cares.
Thank good ness for the maidens!
We all know the that the Chinese and that pub near Soi Nana called Bully's have a lot in common. .

Now that they have money, they are visiting and / or moving overseas. I belong to a gym / health club and you can hear them spitting out big wads of spit in the shower. What's really gross is when they swim and spit out wads of spit into or near the floor drain. You give them a look of disdain and disgust, but they're clueless.
Sadly, I'm part Chinese so I get a lot flak for their behavior. It's as if I'm expected to personally change or correct it. A fellow gym member mentioned his disgust to me and I told him that he should be grateful that they're not pissing in the shower or the pool. They still might be doing it, but at least they're a bit more discreet.

The stat I've seen over 800,000 Americans visited LOS last year. I doubt the DR or Jamaica had that many, though Mexico would not surprise me as they border next to Uncle Sam. Yet Mexico doesn't have the rep as a sex tourist destination like LOS. In surveys for preferred PFP worldwide destinations Mexico hardly gets a mention. They'd be popular with their own kind in the Southern states who can speak the lingo & dare to go there, I suppose.
LBM,
I don't attend Spankies due to the loud whacking noises. Its fun only for some.
As for the fight, an isolated incident. Yes Australians can be Angry. The only fight I saw at a bar was in Crazy House. A Japanese or Korean threw a glass accross the bar. One or two slight injuries from flying glass. The culprit was not even ejected from the bar. Seems the behaviour was acceptable for a regular customer.
Correct certainly a isolated incident! Crazy house I'm surprise because as a tourist? They are really tame compare to when they are home. Although I have not visited in decades Japanese and Korean I can see this happening. The fight I saw they also didn't throw him out. Got him to settle down and he ended up staying. His friend? As noted I felt sorry for regardless of what was said between friends this should have never happen especially on holiday as a wing man?
I've seen two fights at Happy, a few years ago it was with two girls working there?

A disturbing trend I'm noticing. A lot of flat-chested girls are being barfined. OK-not disturbing but funny.
What's needed? A class required every term starting from year one in every mainland Chinese school. "How to behave like a human being. ".
Many years back, the Tawianese had to attend classes before they were allowed to travel. ACtually not just attend, but pass a test too.
The course content was " How to Behave" and centred on how not to draw adverse attention to yourself. Ie don't shout, don't queue jump don't spit, don't do anything to create a bad impression. Taiwanese are lovely people who talk softly, they will always stop at a crossing, and will queue in an orderly fashion.
Sadly, their compatriots don't know any of these, despite travelling and seeing normal people in normal countries behaving in " normal" ways. Many Chinese are quite normal and arent loud and pushy but theres a lot who only know "me first " and " I don't give a shit about you" mentality.
And the chickens are coming home to roost, as the world slowly turns on them, for their lack of manners and boorish behaviour. .
However, if I ask a girl to have sex on camera, and she signs a model release, it's suddenly no longer prostitution but "1st Amendment protected speech. " Go figure.
In the States, this is true only in California due to a particular California supreme court case. That's why the adult film industry is entirely located within the state of California. Other states have either found otherwise, or folks haven't been brave enough to try their luck in other states.
So, I would definitely not ever suggest employing this strategy anywhere in the States outside of California.
Some of us were trying to discuss a somewhat Bangkok topic for once, an you want to go off on a USA (or Swedish) tangent again. USA topics get rather boring, especially for a lot of us who don't live there and don't wish to be there for mongering or any other reason. I wish we had an Expats thread here for you guys to discuss anything you like about the homeland.
I don't mind a little tangential stuff, but its getting to be just too high a percentage lately. This is supposed to be related to mongering or sex in Bangkok and "related" issues.
The forum does have USA Threads. I don't ever read them though.

I always look at it as what goes around comes around this is just the history of the Website? Everything written is related in some way when you dig deep enough even if it is one or two words? If it isn't about the USA, it is about China, India, Europe, Aussie? That is why it is called " International " all this stuff related to what Bangkok has become? Dead and expensive? So everyone compares and talk about other countries which in turn should give everyone a hint it is still pretty damn good here no matter what is written or not written. I'm learning a lot.

Thailand didn't make the top 10.
Look at this one:
http://www.travelweekly.com/Caribbean-Travel/Dominican-Republic-tops-in-Caribbean-tourism-and-growing/
DR had 1. 6 MILLION American tourists in 2013, roughly double your 800,000.
Jamaica had around 1. 3 MILLION Americans in 2012:
http://www.jtbonline.org/statistics/Annual%20Travel/Annual%20Travel%20Statistics%202012.pdf
Wikipedia shows American visits at just over 800,000 in 2013.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourism_in_Thailand#Top_20_arrivals_by_nationality
That makes roughly 3 MILLION tourists in two Caribbean islands in one year. Thailand gets about 40% of that total. So. I think you're wrong about DR and Jamaica.
Dare to go to Mexico? Have you been there?
I would imagine that the majority of those 800 k were not single male sex tourists.
That would be true of tourists to any country. Though I have seen reports of some planes to LOS being full of guys. It's mostly males in the arrivals lineups whenever I visit BKK. OTOH to DR apparently a large percentage of tourists arrive by cruise ship.

Also the DR doesn't sound all that appealing:
"Dominican Republic. Exercise a high degree of caution.
"There is no nationwide advisory in effect for the Dominican Republic. However, you should exercise a high degree of caution due to a high crime rate.
"The official language of the Dominican Republic is Spanish.
"The hurricane season extends from June to the end of November.
"The Dominican Republic is located in an active seismic zone.
"Violent crime (including assault) against foreigners occasionally occurs. Petty crime (including pickpocketing) is common in urban areas. Thefts have been reported in resorts, including in hotel rooms and hotel room safes.
http://travel.gc.ca/destinations/dominican-republic
"Vaccinations: Suggested.
"Foreign tourists are often considered attractive targets for criminal activity and you should maintain a low profile to avoid becoming a victim of violence or crime.
"The dangers present in the Dominican Republic are similar to those of many major USA Cities. Criminals many have weapons and are likely to use them if they meet resistance. Visitors walking the streets should always be aware of their surroundings. Be wary of strangers, especially those who seek you out at celebrations or nightspots. Travel with a partner or in a group if possible.
"While pick pocketing and mugging are the most common crimes against tourists, reports of violence against both foreigners and locals are growing. Crime levels tend to rise during the Christmas season. You should take extra precautions when visiting the Dominican Republic between November and January.
"Credit card fraud is common in the Dominican Republic and has increased significantly in Santo Domingo and other resort areas of the country.
"Minimize the use of automated teller machines (ATMs), which are present throughout Santo Domingo and other major cities. ATM fraud schemes often result in cards becoming jammed within the ATM card reader. Once the card owner has concluded the card is irretrievable, the thieves extract the card for their use. Sophisticated "insiders" scams also occur, where criminals access and manipulate electronic data entered by legitimate card holders at properly functioning ATMs to steal funds from checking accounts.
"We strongly advise visitors to the Dominican Republic to take only hotel taxis or taxis operated by services whose cabs are arranged in advance by phone and can subsequently be identified and tracked.

"Latin American countries seem to have this comical fascination with white skin. The underclass is predominantly non-white while the newspapers, TV, professional and leadership positions are almost exclusively white. This is true, despite the fact that whites are overwhelmingly in the minority in this country. Remarkable.
"The typical Dominican almost looks like the typical African-American in the United States.
"It is as if you are in South Africa before Apartheid ended.
