In Ukraine and that was 15 years ago. I had a mouthful of crowns done for less than that and it included the price of the airplane ticket. Its not rocket science. Just get your dental work in another country. I imagine I will have to use a dentist in Medellin sometime and if needed follow up work is not problem.

I would do it, but I've been going to the dentist of the stars for the last 25 years, and she would would murder me if she looked in there and saw some other dentist's work! ;.

Office may not be as nice and a little dirty, but so much better.

They're based on patient outcomes. US rankings on things like preventable death, infant mortality, surgical errors, prescription errors, etc are appalling.

Dr Zuluaga, was only a 1/6th the amount of that and his work is spectacular. My only complaint at this time is choosing how white I want my final teeth. I paid him with my business account card and will write it off as a medical bill at the end of the year, meaning I will nearly get the procedure done for free!

Hey guys, have already booked my return to Colombia in September. Will start off in Medellin, then Bucaramanga, Barranquilla, back to Santa Marta and maybe visit Cucuta too? Have read back at least 20 pages on this thread but still have to ask a few questions as I've never been to Medellin before.

Will stay in Laureles as it seems to be a good base, plenty of chicas online and daytime casas that look interesting there. These hotels in Laureles look good, anyone stayed in any of them? Hotel Casa Laureles, Lincoln, Vivre, Bolivariana Plaza and Cabo de la Vela.

I'll be arriving in the early evening, what's the best option to get there from the international airport? I guess the shuttle bus doesn't go to Laureles? How much would I pay for a taxi, are they honest / stick to the fares quoted?

I've read a lot about all the dangers in Medellin, but won't let it put me off. Read a lot of bad stuff about Bogota too before my trip in February / March, but once on the ground didn't have any problems. But how do the cities compare in terms of safety? I guess there are different elements you have to watch out for, ie in Bogota it's not recommended to just hail a cab, and in Medellin you have to watch out for people spiking your drinks. Is it safe in Laureles or El Poblado for example to just hail a cab, or better to use an app / Uber? Are parts of Laureles (Avenida Nutibara / La 70 ?) safe to walk after dark? What other comparisons about safety can be made in this respect ? Thanks for any advice you can give guys.

[/QUOTE]Public Bus stops at San Diego Mall and you could take a local cab or Uber from there to your hotel. Bus is very cheap and you pay in the local currency. Cab from the Mall to Laureles should be under 8 mil.

Or you can take a cab from the airport for a set price, which I think is 75,000. The price is posted so double check the sign. You may also be able to share a cab if you meet someone on the plane or the cabbies will sometimes try to coordinate cab sharing depending on supply and demand, but not sure about the price.
