That would be Take's Mansion; it's a five minute walk from the Bank Indonesia Busway stop at Jalan Thamrin so you're pretty much in the middle of everywhere. I would recommend taking one of the penthouse apartments which overlooks the pool, if I recall that should be around the budget you're looking for. Now terms like "mansion" and "penthouse" might give a somewhat grander impression than what Take's actually is but you'll find it clean, comfortable, well run and convenient. There is cable TV but no internet as such but you're not short of wi-fi options near by. I stayed there for three months way back when I first arrived and had no problems. Check it out.

Thanks for the info. I'll PM Bulai and see what he has to say. I've tried doing a bit of web searches, but primarily have found places that have been too expensive, or want a years lease.

The option by Dorman i.e. Take Mansion is one of the best deals in town as like you said the rest require a long stay rental.
I tried recently to obtain a reasoanble rate 1 month rental through a real estate agent but dealing with the landlords are like dealing with vampires who will suck as much blood as possible and leave you for dead! As a result I decided to rent my usual apartment but 1 week short to a month!

Others would require a large deposit and this may be a big hassle, however bear in mind this is peak season as the Election is scheduled for next year and many political party members are in town since Oct to prepare. Take Mansion was fully bokked the last time I went to enquire. It is popular with both the locals and the bules who are in the know of this place!

Monthly prices seem the best deal. Usually 3.5-12 Juta per month, depending on what type of room you get.

You're ten minutes walk from the Sarinah Shopping Mall, twenty minutes by Busway from Blok M or fifteen minutes to Kota, you can't get much closer to the action than that.

Any help to finalise a GFE hotel near to the center of action. Hotel Amaris, Atlet, Mercure, Golden Boutique?

Or Sparks Hotel?. Budget around 50$ and GFE with relatively new hotel. From the RTFF it looks like, near the Block M Amaris hotel and near Kota Sparks hotel, and both are GFE and near action and around 50$.

Based on what I saw in Nov the rooms are not as good looking as the pics but value for $ though in my personal opinion. Please take note that housekeeping is done on 1 every 2 day basis!

The Golden Boutique was okay when I stayed there a couple of years ago. Sparks will always try to nail you for extras, ruined sheets, etc, so I would avoid them.

The other day I was shuffling through the stalls of Mangga Dua and my eye caught on a mannequin which was dressed in some very sexy lingerie. I stopped to admire the sexy wear, checking out the very reasonable price tag, and then I looked more closely at the shop's offerings. Although at a glance the shop seemed to offer the regular assortment of bras and panties, upon closer inspection I noticed that the selection was much more initmate and interesting.
