I have noticed in Colombia that other than an occasional bar brawl, which is not common, by and far the culture is not aggressive which is really appreciated when your a gringo and like to visit the very far off the beaten path types of local bars and street chicas.

You can read the newspaper and you will see how women are treated across the island. Better yet, talk with a women that will give you the honest truth. The judicial system / police are not doing there job in protecting these women. Most of the police / judges are men. The problem is male centered / domineering attitude. Throw in the ignorance myths bestowed upon poor uneducated people by missionaries like the virgin cleansing. Then you would understand why AIDS and sexual abuse are high.

Guys have been doing white parties for a few years. Guys hook up with chicas and their buddies, It looks corney to me but I tend to
of be a lone wolf. At the end of the day the girls love it and that is really what counts. In truth any thing you can do to make the trip more fun is a positive.

A Yoruba religion which is also practice in Cuba. If you ever go to Cuba I recommend anyone to experience the Spiritual tour and learn about the history in Cuba.

This religion is more present in Cuba that one would think. There are temples, often wall-painted joyfully, with blue sea waves, and it's very interesting to learn about this religion.

Condomble. Cuba, Puerto Rico Santeria. Haiti. Vodou. Since I was a French major I did a project on Haitian Voudou when I was in school. A couple of days ago I was in Olinda, Pernambuco, Brazil and took a tour of this old house. The lady that gave us the tour was a witch and showed us the supposed Christian statues that were made by the slaves that masked their true African gods and saints.

The instructor talked about Santeria and the Orishas some, the I did some reading. Fascinating history!

A big disadvantage of meeting chicks online is that you can not fully check them out. Sure you can cam, but that does not tell a full story. I was dating a chick in Colombia whose friend had met an Australian guy online. They dated online for 1 year and even talked about marriage before he finally went to see her. When he finally met his fiancee he saw something that he could not have previously known. There was something wrong with her legs so she had a weird walk. After seeing her that first day, he blew her off the rest of his vacation.

In January I met a pharmacist online who lives in Santiago. I went there and we met up at Kukaramacara. She looked pretty good, just like her photos and the cam. Then I saw something that I just can not deal with. She had a lobster claw hand! How am I going to get through this night?

We went upstairs and sat at my usual table in front of the street. Outside facing me was a big ass billboard with a lobster grinning at my ass! I should have thrown in the towel right then. After dinner we went back to my hotel but I did not let her come in. I made an excuse about needing to get some rest and she took a taxi home. I win a whole hell of a lot of them, but every now and then I chalk up a loss.

The Tall Man.[/QUOTE]Having lived in northern british Colombia and alberta towns where you went to the bars for entertainment to watch the Saturday night punchups, I was amazed while living in medellin for best part of 7 years of never seen a punch thrown in a bar, that includes the bars and strip clubs north and west of conejitas opposite plaza botero, accidently bump into a colombian and he says sorry, an albertan liable to punch you out.

What's up fellas. After a year of stalking the board I finally have my ticket to paradise. Ill be leaving may 30 and returning June 4th. I know a little bit from stalking the board but I still have some questions. I'm trying to buy a subscription but I'm running into issues so hopefully soon you can pm me.

My questions are I'm flying into Santo Domingo cause the tickets was half the cost. Whats the best way to get to Sosua that's safe. Our flight lands in Santo Domingo at night so should I just wait till the morning or is it a safe way to go at night. Also is new gardens still the best spot to stay. I was thinking of a villa but I don't think its necessary. And what else is there to do in Sosua besides the chicas LOL. And lastly I'm bringing about 1500 bucks. Is that enough for a great time for 5 days.

Take the Metro Bus. It cost 9 dollars and it will take you to Sosua from Santo Domingo in appx 4 hours.

The bus is clean, air conditioned and has a bathroom. Its very efficient.

Tell a taxi driver to take you to the Metro Bus Station in Santo Domingo which is about 15 minutes from the Airport -- all the drivers know where Metro Bus station is.
