Yes, slightly off topic, but let's face it -- not way off. I stopped leaving the country without a travel insurance about 8 years ago. I used Allianz for years and never had an issue until last year when they refused to reimburse me for a stupid Airbnb fee. It wasn't much, but it still hurt.

I always have a travel insurance but I never cared to use it. After that I went to a super hot nurse that gave me an injection in my butt. After that I went to a desk and got some medicine. Everything took about 2 hours and it was all for free.

A friend of mine hade the same health issue. He likes to spend a lot of money so he went Hospital Copa d'Or, on Rua Figueiredo de Magalhães. He got exactly the same service. The difference was that he had long waiting times and his visit took 6 hours. Besides that he payed 800 reais.

So I warmly recommend UPA in Copacabana.

I probably won't stay as long and spend more time in Sao Paulo and exploring other parts of Brazil that interest me. And I think it would be a good idea to stay in some other part of town other than Copa just to bring in some newness and some freshness.

Rio de Janeiro is really an amazing city. I have been here many times before but now I appreciate it even more. The mongering is not as good as it used to be mainly because the quality of girls have declined but fortunately the service remains the same. As time goes on I tend to value the ambience of a destination more than before. The beach, the food, the friendliness of the non-pros have all conspired to make this city a worthy competitor with Pattaya as a destination site for residence. I am already planning my next trip back here even before my visit to Thailand in the summer. You guys who live here are very lucky.
