I am Filipino-American and stay with family, so my perspective may be a bit different. I'm not going to be staying at a hotel and mongering, but I may drop by the casino, get left there to play some slots, and wander off for another definition of playing slots. My relatives who would be interested in such things are generally too poor or too young to know where to have fun, while the rest are female or too religious, so I must turn to this board for advice.

--I know there are short time hotels in the area. Any recommendations, or just leave it up to the girl?

--Do any of the bars on Fields seem to draw more native Filipinos than others?

--Can anyone recommend some good Korean restaurants in Angeles?

As the final point to the story, after hassling with PA and CP for WEEKS trying to get this crap sorted out, I neglected to travel with my obscure credit union debit card. I was thus unable to use the PA ticket I had struggled for, and had to purchase a new ticket (with a standard american visa card, no issues) at the PA office in Cebu. Refund of the online-purchased ticket took 2 months.[/QUOTE]

A recent comment that it is CP / PA (or their servicing agent) that rejects foreign credit cards is correct. The secure code you mentioned is called 'VeriSign', where an additional code is prompted for Internet purchases as an added security measure. This makes no difference whatsoever, even with a correct Verisign number, CP and PI still reject the transaction. Bottom line: CP and PI do not accept foreign credit cards on Internet - that it.
Now, the call center may help, or agencies may help, but you cannot do the transaction on internet using a foreign bank card, with or without a Verisign code (which is NOT the three number code on the back of the credit card). The airline call center requirements change daily, and probabily vary by the staff you talk to or the supervisor on duty. It is no good getting angry with them on the phone - understand you are dealing with people with very fragile education and intelligence.

Hi guys, first post here.

I did my Cherry trip to the Phills last January. I couldn't use my Visa card to book with Cebupacificair. They wouldn't accept it even at their office at Davao airport so i had to go find an ATM and pay in cash.

I just booked a flight with CPA from Bangkok to Manila and Dipolog using my Citibank Visa card over the internet and it was accepted no problems. All my visa cards are issued in Australia.

Having read the past few posts about credit caard problems, let me recount my experience.

I was also having problems with credit cards, both Visa and Mastercard, and I have 5 in total.

After many failed attempts, and few successful ones, I thought tht the problem may be with the credit card company.

So I went to a branch of one of th cards, and told the teller that I wanted to confirm the details on my card.

What I found astonished me. The company had made abbreviations for several of the entries, they had substituted upper case for lower case, they had my address wrong, the teller did not even know the correct name for the bank, she said the name is ANZ, which is commonly used, but the correct name is Australia and New Zealand Banking Company Limited. So I had her change a few details to get the facts correct. Then I wrote down off the screen all of the relevant data, character by character. And I use this.

Now, no problems, all of the cards work, all of the time. The problem is that when the credit agency compares the info that you put in with their records,there was always a mismatch, and the card was rejected.

Actually Ive successfully booked a PA ticket online i used my GE Moneybank Mastercard it worked like a charm and I live in Europe. But booking CP online that never works for me either and i tried 4 credit/debit cards both visa and mastercard.

Sorry man, I & many others have foreign credit cards that DO get accepted routinely & regularly.

The problem is the issuing banks & credit agencies not the airlines.

CP has told me that US and UK issued cards are not accepted online. Other foreign cards are accepted.

Normally a website or the relevant credit agency will run an algorithm to convert ANZ to the long-form name. Sounds like somehow the software/processing used by the website is weak or, not 'robust.' I think the technical term is 'crap.'

My friend and I just returned from 2 weeks in Thailand (Bangkok + Pattaya) and 1 week in AC. My first visit to Philippines. I was looking forward to visiting a new place. Here is a quick report on my experiences.

We stayed 2 nights at Clarkton Hotel (1500 pesos per night), 5 nights at America Hotel (1050 pesos per night). Both are good budget options. I found the bed at Clarkton a bit weird. Surrounded by tiles. It looked like it was a spa/jacuzzi with a board and mattress on top. I didn't do any "business" here, but it looked like it would be particularly uncomfortable. I am no giant (182cm tall) but found my feet stuck over the end of the mattress. Room was small but not too bad. America hotel room was much bigger and bed a bit more comfortable. Overall the room needed a makeover but was quite acceptable. Hotel is apparently haunted. More on that later.

First night arrived late, so went to Mirrors at the Clarkton. Not bad, some nice looking girls but no action. Found the synchronised dancing a bit strange.

Next day I got my pocket picked by a "lovely" "gentleman" outside SM Mall. I grabbed him and, after some "gentle persuasion" he returned my money. Met an Aussie guy who introduced my friend and I to America Hotel. He took us to a few nice places over the next few days. Names I remember are The Gentleman’s Club, Peanuts and Emotions. There were a few more, names elude me. Second night was fun, but again had no action. We met a couple of stunners at Gentleman’s club.

3rd night returned to Mirrors. My friend met a lovely lady he was keen on, and I met a nice one too. It was 1200 pesos for the bar fine. We took them for a bit of bar-hopping then back to the America for some much needed happy times. It all started out fine. Bit of playing, bit of a rub and tug, play with the growler, then. "I'm drunk. I sleep now. I go at 3. 30". Hmmmm. Can't press the issue too much, so, whatever.

Next day my friend said he had one of the best experiences of his life. D’oh! That night he went back to Mirrors, picked up his girlie then met me at Gentleman’s Club. I was chatting to a lovely I had met, but she didn’t want to go with me because I was chatting to her friend previously and that meant I belonged to her friend. Funny thing was that her friend had "a day off" that day. Hmmmm. Went to another club called Eruption (I think). End of the night met a nice girl. She asked me to bar fine her (1200 pesos), so I thought OK. We got back to hotel and she says "By the way, I am menstruating so no boom-boom". Shit! I decided that a good old HJ was better than nothing, and it was actually quite good. I went to the bathroom to clean up and that’s when the problems really started. The girl rushed in after me and grabbed my hand like a clamp. She started ranting about the spirits then fell on the floor in the foetal position crying. "OK" I said, "time for you to go home now". "But I want to stay with you all night" she replied. As tempting as that was (NOT), I tenderly explained that it really was a good idea for her to remove her cute little butt from my room as swiftly as possible. I took her out the front and got a trike for her.

Next day my mate was exhausted and said his night was amazing. Bastard. Went to a few bars in the afternoon and met a cutie. She was content to rub my weiner so much that I said "Change clothes and let’s go". She went off and mamasan came over and told me she is a cherry girl. Damnit! We went back to Gentleman’s Club (with my friend and his future ex-wife from Mirrors). My two lovelies quickly came over and grabbed me. They rubbed the weiner for ages, and took me into the toilet so I could have a little suck on their nipples. It was all going well until closing time when they both said they couldn’t go with me because they were menstruating. Lordy. I spent another night of uninterrupted sleep and woke up with a mighty unsatisfied boner.

Just to make matters worse, my mate had another wicked night. We returned to Mirrors on the sixth night. I decided to give the girl another go as my friends wife said she was sorry for the other night, she was so drunk. We had fun going to a few different bars, then back to the hotel. We played around for a little while, had some unsatisfying action, then she had to go home at 3. 30.

My butt-monkey mate had yet another fun-filled night that he delighted in telling me about. Jerk. The last night was spent with his wife bar-hopping. We had fun, but no action (waaaaahhhhhhh).

I learned that you must ALWAYS ask two questions – 1. Are you a cherry girl? 2. Are you menstruating? WTF? I have never had to do this in any of my extensive travels throughout Asia. Well I guess everywhere is different – this is not Thailand. Neither is it Indonesia or Vietnam. I would return to AC, but it’s not high on my list. I would like to add that this is my opinion only – my mate had a great time and would go back tomorrow.

Hello everyone, Well, I have finally done it. I bought my ticket to visit Angeles city in February. I do have a logistics problem though. I have to fly out at 6:30am on a Wednesday morning from Manila. The Fly-the-bus leaves at 3pm the previous day or not until 8am that morning (too late).

I wanted to stay at the Wild Orchard for a few days as well as the LewisGrand a few days, just for variety. Will either hotel offer their car services at 4am in the morning, or is it best to go to manila on Tuesday and get a hotel there and just get up in manila?

I know this may not be a great subject for this board, but this is my first visit to a foreign country. I planned on taking Fly-the-bus to angeles when I arrive.

Oh yeah, where is swagman hotel manila and swagman narah hotel? The pickup and dropoff points for fly-the-bus. Is it safe to carry 2 pieces of luggage on the bus? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I will certainly post whatever information I can and hopefully some pictures after my visit.

I've seen all these problems with visas and MC's. Is my US-issued Visa Bank card able to be used in Angeles city? Or able to get cash from an ATM?

AV[/QUOTE]I have to disagree. I have many US credit cards and book airtravel on a regular basis. Except for Philippine airlines, you cannot use a foreign credit card online. Cebu Pacific will let you use it to book a flight over the phone, but you have to email them a bunch of stuff, which they never seem to receive, and it is a real hassle. With Philippine airlines, your credit card also has to participate in M/C secure code, or Visa's equivanlent program. I finally got around to getting a Philippine credit card just for this reason. I certainly would not have gone through the hassle of applying if I could use my US credit cards here without problems.

My last trip I had an early flight as well and had no problem getting car service from the Pacific Breeze hotel at 4AM. Just make sure to tell the hotel in advance.

I am also planning on using their "Fly the Bus" service for the first time in December.
