Well how is your spanish now? Do you learn languages easliy? Could you pass a college 101 class? Start by watching American Movies bubbed in Espanol. You'll pick up phrases and watch a kids show. To converse with a girl on some level you need to get up to 202, for real talks 300 level I'd say. Or just use the linnks below for that online tutorial. OR go to a bar or Spanish food joint and pratice with them. Is there a Men's soccor league in your town? Is there a park where spanish people play on the weekends? If you see a bunch of fat spanish guys fooling around ask to join in. If they're real good you'll just be in the way.

Honestly, I don't think its enough time to swoon any non pros but it should be plenty for the P4P's. Plus Colombian Spanish is tricky, There are so so many slang words that are incorporated in every day chit chat that you will NOT find in any translator period.

If she's always ONLINE with her blackberry or Iphone but cannot easily tell you what she does for work or claims to have a job making the minimum 560k pesos. Where is she getting her extra income to supplement her lifestyle from? To supplement her superficial lifestyle from? One of the good things about Colombianas is that they are so easy to read once you are accustomed to know what to look for. Comes with time, trial and error, experience and friendly advice.

I agree about the family not paying at least for the monthly "La Administracion". You know, since you now live there, and I know since I finished up High School In Colombia a few years ago and have roots there now, that the Colombianas are very "mal acostumbradas" when it comes to paying for anything. Maybe, and I mean maybe they'll chip in more if they're from a higher estrato, or if you're just plain LUCKY. I don't look Colombian, am part Colombian, but have been on enough dates to know that they all "LOVE" the part about the man paying for everything a little too much Machista society. This discussion started or at least was kindled by Bango's statement that anyone who sent money to a Colombian girls was a moron. I came out of the closet and admitted that I'm one of those morons on a fairly big scale. Our friend Bango's viewpoint has got to be influenced by his previous choices, as indicated by his words:

I didn't find Bango's opinions offensive, but I did find his statement about being caught in "illusions" enlightening. My gut tells me that our friend Bango has been under the "illusion" that he writes about. The Buddha teaches that the source of pain is unfulfilled expectations. Unfulfilled expectations are another way of saying illusion. It can make you bitter.

I don't know about anyone else, but I enjoy what I do for my little Paisa and her family. Her two sisters live with their mother and both of the girls work. Nothing special, but one is in retail and the other in a factory that makes toys. They were not ask to pay anything connected to my Paisa's apartment, except the utilities. My thought was that the money that I sent to them for the "La Administracion" left them a little extra at the end of the month to get something they want or need. Simple as that. This statement was part of a post by Mr. Gogo. It fits me to a tee except that I only visit the paradise, not live in it. I have been tempted to live in Colombia, but either the need to see my children or the lure of new spots to monger has kept me in my home Country. I balance this out by at least every other month I monger.

I used to try to date Gringas, but soon after encountering Latin America I saw the folly in this. Now I no more respond to requests by family and friends to meet women in my home country.

Mr. Gogo also pointed out that the older experenced monger tends to try to keep a low key, and not make any waves as he partakes of the festivites. The last thing he wants is to have problems or cause inflation in the monger market place.

It is early morning as I ride out this East Coast storm so I just thought to share some thoughts.

My point is you don't have to be an old time monger to be a gentlemen in Paradise. You younger guys here for maybe a few weeks should try and be a little careful to not disturb the waters too much. The { hey I'm on vacation, and I don't care } is not good for our hobby. Use these short trips you take to really get a feel for the country you are in.
