I didn't find Bango's opinions offensive, but I did find his statement about being caught in "illusions" enlightening. My gut tells me that our friend Bango has been under the "illusion" that he writes about. The Buddha teaches that the source of pain is unfulfilled expectations. Unfulfilled expectations are another way of saying illusion. It can make you bitter.

I don't know about anyone else, but I enjoy what I do for my little Paisa and her family. Her two sisters live with their mother and both of the girls work. Nothing special, but one is in retail and the other in a factory that makes toys. They were not ask to pay anything connected to my Paisa's apartment, except the utilities. My thought was that the money that I sent to them for the "La Administracion" left them a little extra at the end of the month to get something they want or need. Simple as that. I feel lucky and blessed to have met and held a good solid relationship with a BEAUTIFUL, smart, sexy, cool, and funny Colombian chick. I know and trust my girl, if you don't trust yours and are constantly suspicious there probably is a reason for it and you should find yourself a new girl; foreign or domestic. If I spent all my time worrying about what she was doing when I was out of the country and what she may or may not have done in the past I'd be even more stress out than I already am with the economy and work. We all have a past and it's best to remember the good times if you can and leave the negative behind; you'll be a happier person for it.

Much like LT and the other guy who got started iwth Bango who helps his girl out. I have no problem with helping out my girl with bills and such. When I first started helping it was a few bucks for her Bday if I couldn't make it down, for her daughter's birthday, ect. I am blessed with a good job and a few small but successful businesses I run for myself. It's only money and you can't take it with you are old sayings that are very true and if we're talking about a few Hundo a month and like I said you can afford it then why not help out a girl (and by extension her family).

The Honest joy and happiness that I can bring to her life and the joy she brings to mine. Well worth it. I feel I come out on top! You know. $500 to me is a few diners and a few night out drinking for me and the boys back home (Or like 1 hooker in the states or 2 decent dates with a Local Chick) big deal! That same pile of money is her rent, daughter's school, utilities, and a few bucks to get her nails done and hair did. I tell her to be smart and use this gift with her own income as a blessing and to save and build for the future but a Colombians love to spend!

Some people get played it happens, some people never learn how to play the game and some people play the game to the best of their abilities. What people don't understand is how to control what is going on around them and it scares them so they shut down their hearts and minds; the good stuff cna't come through if you're doors are shut and locked. Do your best, have proper intent and good things will happen to you.

I totally agree w / your points about "low profile" in the host country, but young guys can't change. They will be young, energenic and loud. That is their nature and most cannot change. As time goes by they slow down a little and are more understanding of their place and surroundings.

Inflation in "The Mongering Place" is bound to continue. All the good reports from MDE and elsewhere will only add to the demand side of the eqaution. We are all living longer and there are a lot of new mongers in the pipeline. The odds are the price of goods will go up, hopefully I am wrong, but just using logic seems to point to increases in all regards. The one (GOOD) thing about So America is you do need to speak the language in order to fully enjoy the scene. I hope this aspect keeps the demand side down.

The good guys here on the Colombian Board are a double edged sword. On the one side they provide friendly insight and crucial information regarding mongering, here and else where. Why? Because they like people and want to help. But this is how things get overcrowded so no one here can be critical of inflation, especially the nice guys, hahaha.

If the BM's here want to reduce the number of ugly ignorant post here, the site moderator should install a feature that allows the poster to block certain BM's from viewing their post. Example. For those lucky enough to be residing in Colombia:

The US Embassy will mail you a document of income if you will email them a request with scanned attachments of your supporting documents. Make sure you give them your complete mailing address, phone numbers and your passport information. This can save you a lot of time and trouble. Do this two months in advance of applying for your visa renewal. When your document arrives check ALL details several times. If the Embassy dates the letter 2010 instead of 2011, if they misspell your name or get your passport number wrong, the Ministry of Foreign Relations will not accept it.

Instead of going to the Supercade to get your document legalized, go to Autopista Norte, #166-68. Open continuously from 7:30AM until 7PM. Very quick, few people. Costs 15, 000 pesos per page, bank window next to the legalizing office. Takes about 30 minutes. They also do apostille.

Go to the Ministry of Foreign Relations at Ave 19, #98-03 (they've moved from Cra 13, #93-68). There's a room on the ground floor with a lot of people, this for Colombians to get passports. Go to the right of this to an entrance that is set back, go inside, take the elevator to the third floor. Several police standing around out in front, ask for 'Visas'. The building is called Torre 100. If you go there from the legalizar place on Autopista Norte, #166-68, the building will come up on your right and you can get out right in front. On the third floor, there's a window where you tell the person what you want to apply for. They give you a number and a pay sheet. There's a bank window right next to this. Formerly free, the Pensianado Visa renewal now costs 93, 000 Pesos. Wait until your number comes up, about 30 minutes, go back to the module with your number, speak to an official individually. MAKE SURE ALL YOUR INFORMATION AND DETAILS ARE CORRECT BEFORE HAND. They are sticklers and will send you out to correct any errors. Go back out, wait a little, get called back in to receive your visa and you're finished. Open 7:30AM. 10:30AM. If you're inside at 10:30, you stay until you finish. If not, come back another day. The doors close promptly at 10:30. I saw one woman arrive at 10:32 and be denied entry. She was very upset and screamed 'Me fuiste, me fuiste!

My document from the Embassy had the date wrong, out to the Embassy to get another, too late to go back, I had to overnight in a hotel and make all the taxi trips again. The taxis have a meter and a code sheet to give the correct rate, which is lower than the meter. The driver told me 20, 000, which I thought was double what it should have been, but there were no cops in sight and it was a difference of $5. The airline charged me a 90, 000 peso penalty for changing the date on my ticket. The hotel was 100, 000 pesos. It cost me an extra 250, 000 pesos because the Embassy made an error on the date. They sincerely apologized, but there was no compensation. The Embassy is a fortress, being American doesn't mean anything. All the guards are Colombian, and none of them speak ENGLISH. Do not let the taxi take you to the main entrance. They will not let you in, you will have to go around the block to the consulate entrance, which is a gate in a black iron fence, no sign, no distinguishing details other than a guard box on the inside.

I suggest taking at least 600, 000 pesos, your credit and debit cards, a change or two of clothes and your toiletries. It can take 3 1/2 hours, or it can take two or three days.

So if I ever need a visa extension again, instead of jumping thru hoops I will just take a short trip to Panama or Equador. Sure it will cost me more money, but well worth not dealing with those bean counters at DAS.

Normally the MRE is open till 12pm, except for on the last day of the month, they close at 10:30. And you can go back out and in again if you take a turn.

if i wanted to serve my very own self interest i would promote medellin and trash every other city. but i have a conscious and think it better for a newbie never having been to colombia to get their feet wet with cartagena. it just makes perfect sense.

for a newbie wanting to get started cartagena is the best. i have been there may times, it is safe friendly has a beach, easy to maneuver, not much of a learning curve and the best part is the girls are from all over colombia. there is a huge variety as many girls do not want to work in their home cities for fear of being caught by family. this is the biggest selling point. also bogotá is this was as well but getting around can be a nightmare.

i would always recommend going to cartagena, get friendly with girls from cali, medellin, bogotá, manizales and barranquilla and get thier contact info. next time back to colombia visit the other cities, hook up with that girl and do the monger scene on the side.

But I think that you may be wrongly assuming that LT thinks / wants that she be faithful. Some guys just don't care about that. The chances that she looks at him as if he were a sugar daddy wallet and that she is in love with some other guy she actually sees on a regular basis are probably really high.

But assuming that LT has a problem with that, well, therein lies your mistake. He seems perfectly content with what he has set up and that is a good thing.
