I believe that Bango and I simply see these Colombian girls in a different light. This discussion started or at least was kindled by Bango's statement that anyone who sent money to a Colombian girls was a moron. I came out of the closet and admitted that I'm one of those morons on a fairly big scale. Our friend Bango's viewpoint has got to be influenced by his previous choices, as indicated by his words:
(1)"If you send a dime, you're a moron. OF COURSE the girl has multiple guys sending her money"
(2)"The best way to keep a girl LONG TERM IMO is to be really good in bed"
(3)"I met my ex in a videochat and later married her. She worked either in chat or hooking the whole 5 years we were together. It's fine to buy pussy, as long as you watch your ledger carefully and don't get caught in any illusions about your 'princess'. Many of you may find the tone of this offensive, but deep down you can't deny you know I know what I'm talking about"
(4)"Actually I have a steady gf, but it's an open relationship. We may get a pro or 2 for threesomes sometime down the road but for now it's strictly non-pros. Actually as I write this I couldn't afford a peck on the cheek and a promise from a pro till some payments come in."
I didn't find Bango's opinions offensive, but I did find his statement about being caught in "illusions" enlightening. My gut tells me that our friend Bango has been under the "illusion" that he writes about. The Buddha teaches that the source of pain is unfulfilled expectations. Unfulfilled expectations are another way of saying illusion. It can make you bitter.
I don't know about anyone else, but I enjoy what I do for my little Paisa and her family. Her two sisters live with their mother and both of the girls work. Nothing special, but one is in retail and the other in a factory that makes toys. They were not ask to pay anything connected to my Paisa's apartment, except the utilities. My thought was that the money that I sent to them for the "La Administracion" left them a little extra at the end of the month to get something they want or need. Simple as that. I appreciate Colbrotha's view of Colombian society in general, and what these women expect in particular. As Colbrotha's uncle said: "Hay que comprar la cuca." All I know is that the last time my little Paisa and I were preparing to visit Medellin, she was talking on the speaker phone with her mother and two sisters. Of course they were talking a million miles a minute and with the typical Colombian emotion in every word after she told them we were coming for a visit. After a brief discussion of everything Mama was going to cook, etc, I understood,"es maravilloso, el yanqui que viene" It's wonderful, the yankee is coming. And, hell, yes, nobody else pays for anything when the Yankee comes to town. I'm having fun! And for everyone I wish the same and
Only good energy!
I'm with Legal Tender in the PRO-Camp on helping on this one. I feel lucky and blessed to have met and held a good solid relationship with a BEAUTIFUL, smart, sexy, cool, and funny Colombian chick. I know and trust my girl, if you don't trust yours and are constantly suspicious there probably is a reason for it and you should find yourself a new girl; foreign or domestic. If I spent all my time worrying about what she was doing when I was out of the country and what she may or may not have done in the past I'd be even more stress out than I already am with the economy and work. We all have a past and it's best to remember the good times if you can and leave the negative behind; you'll be a happier person for it.
Much like LT and the other guy who got started iwth Bango who helps his girl out. I have no problem with helping out my girl with bills and such. When I first started helping it was a few bucks for her Bday if I couldn't make it down, for her daughter's birthday, ect. She never once asked for money or told me a sob story in the first year and a half we were together; she would say my daugher has a cold or I have a stomach ache but in the natural flow of our conversions and emails / I'm's. I come from a small city filled with hustlers and con men (a blessing and a curse) so I grew up sorting out bullshit and have the uncanny ability to read between the lines and see peoples true motivation and heart; She never set off my alarms.
I am blessed with a good job and a few small but successful businesses I run for myself. It's only money and you can't take it with you are old sayings that are very true and if we're talking about a few Hundo a month and like I said you can afford it then why not help out a girl (and by extension her family).
The Honest joy and happiness that I can bring to her life and the joy she brings to mine. Well worth it. I feel I come out on top! You know. $500 to me is a few diners and a few night out drinking for me and the boys back home (Or like 1 hooker in the states or 2 decent dates with a Local Chick) big deal! That same pile of money is her rent, daughter's school, utilities, and a few bucks to get her nails done and hair did. I tell her to be smart and use this gift with her own income as a blessing and to save and build for the future but a Colombians love to spend!
Some people get played it happens, some people never learn how to play the game and some people play the game to the best of their abilities. What people don't understand is how to control what is going on around them and it scares them so they shut down their hearts and minds; the good stuff cna't come through if you're doors are shut and locked. Do your best, have proper intent and good things will happen to you.
On the other side check out post 8020 over on the Medellin Topic. Brutal!
