El Nido is a tourist trap
Ok, I had been putting off my first AC visit for 5-6 years, but now it is time. I didn't realize that the AC life was an endangered species. I am now planning on going there later this winter.
Fellas, I need some advice planning my time. For this trip, I was planning on splitting my time between El Nido and AC. I have read that there is nothing to do here except punt. Probably plan to relax by the pool at ABC and / or do some work in the day, and punt at night.
How many nights is enough at AC before I get bored? Making a preliminary schedule, I could either be in AC Mon / Tues / Sat OR Th / FR / Sat. Any thoughts? Is it dead during the week? Or too crowded on the weekends?
I have been a punter for a little over a decade. Experienced, though maybe not super duper experienced. I was in the PI about 5-6 years ago, but did NOT hit AC. Over the years, I have been to most of the major haunts around the world. I figured three nights tops.
Thanks in advance!
Well AC might last longer than three years but its in decline. Maybe its on death row but some guys spend 20 years on death row.
El Nido is pretty but its a tourist trap. There is no girl action there to my knowledge. I was in Coron for diving and that place is hyped also, but its a dump with no beach. Boracay has a nice beach but its boring.
Anyway my 2 cents, spend 3 nights in AC and you will have fun. Ive been there five times this year, the last trip was one month ago. Someone just counted the bars on Walking St and suprisingly there are still 43. Thats at least 1,000 girls. Just hit Qbar, Lollipop, Viking and Sensations and you can't go wrong. Personally I would skip Manila. There arent many bars and just this month two clubs, namely Fyre and Neon Nights, got raided and shut down. Plus the barfine prices are much higher than AC.
I usually stay in Angeles 7 nights and I'm not bored. On weekends its flooded with Koreans who arrive in white vans at 10 am sharp and scoop up lots of girls. But the place is more lively on the weekends. Quieter but more girl choice on the weekdays perhaps.
As for hotels, I would rather stay in a place like Central Park than ABC as its a 2 minute walk to the bars, vs a trike ride from ABC.
Don't get me wrong ABC is cool
Thanks for all the responses fellas!
I looked at Royal Amsterdam and the suite was $100 USD. ABC was something like $130, but much nicer AND you get the rooftop pool and all the other facilities. Unless it is TOO far away, I would like the other amenities so that I can entertain myself during the day -- read a book by the pool, etc.
I am leaning towards a Wed, Th, and Friday night stay, leaving on Sat afternoon. Going to spend the first half of the week in El Nido.
I remember how terrible Manila airport was. Definitely going to fly through Clark this time through.
And yes, it is a Punter Bucket List thing. I saw all of Manila and Cebu that I wanted to see 6 years ago. Even if AC is not as good as it used to be, I can't NOT check it out. The legends call.....
Don't get me wrong ABC is cool. Trike to Walking St is maybe 150 p and you could even get a Jeepney from outside ABC for about 15 p just for the hell of it. Get off at the Jeepney terminus then walk the last 2 minutes to WS.
Hell, you can even walk from ABC to WS, is only 500 m. Walk there then trike back with your barfine. (And with the traffic at 5pm, it might be quicker to walk....)
