BTW the Rembrandt is listed as GF, along with a number of hotels that I'm certain are, on Black Gold's website so I'm guessing it is (as they ought to know).
O.K. Its just that when I stayed there, they seemed to want to check that my GF was actually checked in on the register (which she was), but perhaps they were merely wanting her Id Card if she wasn't checked in.
In any case I found them to be more irritating and pompous than most Hotels. This was 2-3 years ago.
In addition Rembrandt is a long way down the Soi so I don't go there anymore.
Just an update on this hotel. They have upgraded their rooms and are quite nice. Got rid of the old carpeting and replaced with wood (?) floors, bathrooms renovated etc. Rooms are quite big compared to Manhattan. However, rates has jumped to 1600 net. The best thing is a free wireless and a trip downstairs to the Thermae.
Duni,
Wow that price is good if you don't need a pool (I assume they don't have one) and location very good for BTS or Soi Cowboy. Is it noisy there?
Is there any easy way to cross sukhumwit road there if you need to get to the expressway in a hurry?
I presume need to U-turn as Asoke and come back?
Sorry, one more question. Are the beds a good size and soft?
I hate the very hard beds at Grand Business Inn and the noise (a lot of construction work when I was there and also big air gaps under the door causes Hotel guest noise to carry).

Cozy at Ten
Hello All, will be in BKK on the 12 for two nights, then back again after about 10 days and stay for a week (maybe Koh Samui or Pattaya, not sure yet)
Any recent word on www.cozyatten.com? It was posted a while back by a member, but no new comments. Am thinking Citichic or this one. 1000THB difference and possibly the only difference is breakfast? I don't care about pool, etc.
Thanks in Advance.

they do have a pool albeit a small one on the 8th floor. there is like a mini restaurant there also, if you want breakfast. limited to continental or american style. (not included in room rate)
soi cowboy is walking distance (5-10 minutes, depending on your speed). asoke station is closer. i just walk to robinson, go to the second floor and walk on to their walkway to the station. saves me from climbing all the stairs. (have bad knees)
yes, you have to make a u-turn at asoke for the expressway. but some taxis make left on soi 15 and go down to soi 3 using back roads and make a turn to go to the expressway.
the beds are queen size and the beds just right. i don't like hard ones either.
now that the sofitel next door has completed most of the outside work, there is hardly any noise.
cons:
the bathrooms are small. they have shower stalls and the floor gets flooded. however, water drains away quite fast, and a towel on the floor does the trick.
pros:
free wi-fi.
massage parlor on the 3rd floor. not much choices of girls, but they do give you a good massage. you can even have the girl come to your room. same rate.
all the tgs are milling around the front entrance, or at the thermae down below. after closing they are all on the front having noodles and such. i guess the thermae is getting crowded with too many tgs chasing a few japanese. last week, had a pretty good looking (an 8) tg proposition me, which was a surprise considering my physical shape and brown skin. last year, had a tough time even getting to talk to them.
there is a bar w/pool tables on the ground floor, if you are so inclined.
bottom line: it is not soi 33 but it is a convenient place to be with lots of options, from restaurants, shopping and of course tgs.

Internet Rate?
The internet rates in low season looks good on many hotels.
Somebody know if it is like the rate is lowest on the web or if you walk in on places and ask for example that you would stay x number of nights and so on, is it going to get any cheaper then?
Experience anyone?
I'm going in September and when Im in Bangkok I would like to upgrade my living with a nicer hotel on Suk.

thanks for the superb extra details. i think i might try it sometime.
it sure seems convenient even if a little "too close" to the action.
hard to get all these facilities for the same price.
seems similar to grand business inn but not sharing its problems (hard beds, noisy, no pool).
certainly would be convenient for soapy excursions using the mrt.
i aslo intend to try citichic and s15 to compare different price classes.
however i am still very happy with livingstones on soi 33 when in full mongering mode.

I've stayed at Ruamchitt a number of times. Only going back a year or so ago I thought it was great value at B900. Slightly, just slightly, better rooms than Nana, and a little bigger. Good location as previously posted. Thermae downstairs. Turn left, Cowboy in 5-7 minutes. Turn right and Nana was about 10-12 walking on the odd side, a little quicker if you cross using the pedestrian bridge and walk down the even side.
Fantastic rooftop pool, very clean and well maintained and not often used by other guest so quite often have it to yourself.
Having said all of that, as mentioned they recently renovated and uped the prices. On my last visit they had two choices - B1100 for the old rooms and B1600 for newer rooms. I booked the old rooms, assuming they were the same rooms I had had all along, however I copped a room down a series of little hallways down the back - they were dark and musty. Checked out the next day. Nana, Majestic and Dynasty were all booked and luckily found an absolute gem down Soi 4.
Maybe 200 meters further up from Nana Hotel, on same Side was Swan Bar. There are three or four around here all numbered. I think this was '4' and opposite was another with cheapo accomodation - B600, but didn't go in.
'4' looks just like a pool bar but at the back is a small desk with rooms upstairs.
The rooms were small but immaculately clean. Wooden floor boards with a little balcony overlooking the Soi - although can't see too much beside the roof of the bar downstairs and hundreds of powerlines, but it added light and air. B800. Don't have contact details but when I was there I only saw a handful of guests - I think the have about 12 rooms or so over three floors. Quite homely. Cable tv and maybe room service from the bar downstairs but don't quote me on that and 5 minute walk to Nana.
Cheers.

BKK Accomodation
I visited LOS for the first time last year and I'll be back later on this year. As many of you know websites only carry a percentage of hotels in Sukhumvit or anywhere else in Thailand for that matter.
It may be wise to book in a recommendable hotel (via internet) for the first night, then look around for alternative accomodation once you're there.
Cheers
Taka
PS: One month and counting to BKK

Of course, Ruamchitt is no LL. Overall, LL is a much better choice. It's just that sometimes one needs a change of pace.

Dinasty Grande
They have lowered the price. its back on the 2280, and they don't make a diference between the wings.
For this price, i think its one of the best offerings in Bangkok, despite the fact they don't offer breakfast.

Interesting. I would guess that folks are starting to feel the pain of higher airfares resulting from fewer flights and high fuel surcharges. But it could simply be that they over-reached. I personally went away from them when they jacked the rate for the nicer wing to 2800, and I booked the CitiChic instead for my last trip. I certainly would have stayed at the Dynasty Grande had they kept the 2280 rate early last December. I wonder how many other customers that they lost due to that big price hike. Obviously, they felt the pain.

Dynasty Inn (Soi4) is 1480, it was 990 3-4 years ago.
Nana is 1490 , Majestic suites is 1315
These prices are pretty high compared to the 2280 for Dynasty Grande
With the lower US dollar that has really raised the price of staying around Nana,
It would be nice if there were more decent 1000 baht places , I may have to hunt around next time and see what available

For this price I would go back there. Its O.K. that the breakfast is not included, as the daytime cook was terrible at anything other than Thai food. I would strongly consider staying there but eating breakfast/lunch nearby instead.
If you do eat there, order something Thai or very basic that is hard to stuff up.
