You will not "miss the boat" at Blok M unless your dinner ends well after midnight! see my earlier posting re taxi - at night it's only 15 minutes away. There are many postings on rates - 100 USD will easily pay for a whole night out - taxi, drinks in a bar, and "full service" in an MP.

Retaining the silverbird is a good idea to a point. The problem is finding the bugger when you want to go home. Not terribly hard at Blok M depending on the parking situation, but I've done it at Stadium and that was lousy.

However, although the crappy unmetered taxi's will indeed rip you off, it usually isn't that much, and may be a lot cheaper then paying the silver to wait. I know that a normal metered ride from Blok M back to ShangriLa is around 20k rupes, so when the hacks quote me 30k, I dont mind. It's only a dollar. Only once did a hack change his price when we rolled up to the hotel door, which was pretty stupid. I paid him what we originally agreed and stepped out of the car and into the pack of armed security who knew me by name.

Brandon, I agree up to a point but NB I was addressing my comments to a self-proclaimed "new" monger who I suspect could get more seriously ripped off than you (or me). As for finding the taxi - if you owe him around 100 USD I suspect he will usually make himself fairly conspicous as a rule; also most have mobile phones so you can always call them.

I'm glad you had a great time but perhaps you should look into the amount you are tipping. 500k for a ST Atrium girl sounds overpriced; but that's not as bad as tipping 500k (an excessive amount for a tip) on top of 1 million - even for overnight GFE. I'm sure you will receive some unpleasant comments wrt the prices you paid. You have to understand that you paid the girl much more than the average monthly wage here for one night! GFE and this kind of service are quite common if you talk and treat the girls nicely. Please dont hike the prices up for the rest of us.

So he paid 1.5 million. He said she paid for all drinks at the clubs and that he was sloshed. Those drinks could have easily cost over a million for the night. So in effect, he was just reimbursing her for the drinks.

1.5 million is too much to pay outright, but if she really paid for alot of other expenses during the night, it may not have been exorbitant.

What was the bottom line?
