Just checked my records (my trip to Makassar in May 2008 was for business, so I had to save my receipts) and I had paid 453,70 rupiah per night at the Pantai gapura hotel, and that was for the end room on the second floor closest to the water. That translates to under $50 US for a decent, clean room in a decent hotel. You might get a cheaper rate for another room that's farther away from the ocean.

If that's too much, then yes the nearby Losari beach hotel is girl-friendly.

I was in Balikpapan a few weeks ago.
It is a very boring city, and i dont rekommend it for "our hobby"
There is a park near Novotel, you can find girls here after 7PM, but many of them are ladyboys !
I visited komplek 17km one night, its a big brothelkomplex with hundreds of girls
It is 17km from Balikpapan ,and takes about 40 minutes by Taxi.
The last 2 km is on a very bad, dark road.
You can find lots of nice girls here from 200.000 rupier.
The only bad thing is that it is so far from the city.

I was thinking about the Aston hotel when I wrote down Sahid Jaya. I'm sorry! So it is Aston then. Not very far from Madona and other places to monger by becak.

BTW I was referring to a person who can get you good discounts at various hotels. A.o.'s the Gapura.

How to get to this terminal is a question for the other readers of this forum to answer.

Heard about the beautiful port, but never read about any mongering story.

Well it is a little complicated ... the easiest would be to, if possible book in advance on Garuda as their domestic departures are from Terminal 2, which is the terminal you will arrive at on an international flight.

Failing booking in advance when you exit the terminal go upstairs and you will find a Garuda ticketing office. Depending on timing you will re enter the Terminal, which is a whole lot better to wait in than Terminal 1.

Should Garuda not be satisfactory then maybe Lion Air would be your next best bet, they are at Terminal 1A with ticketing on the outside. Not much English spoken at that counter where as Garuda is fine.

Just to confuse things Mandala and another Airline I forget have moved to the new Terminal 3.

To get to the other terminals there are theoretically buses or taxis or countless touts to provide the expensive option.

Try and do your research first as the flights are not that numerous daily. Schedules on the Airlines web sites.

Well your roving reporter is back from my lovely 5 days of holiday in Makassar.

firstly hotel Pantai Gapura is very girl friendly, a nice hotel, helpful staff and you have to get an ocean view cottage for views of all the ships coming and going.

the rickshaw drivers and hotel door staff all seem to have a little girl racket running. just ask and they can get a selection for you to try.

the rickshaw drivers outside the hotel could procure young girls of 18/19/20 at short notice, my first two over two nights were fairly lacklustre in attitude but I am easily satisfied by tight pussy which they fortunately had, my friend who was local then sourced me a lovely girl from Madona's which is a fish bowl joint down the street.

Ima was her name,19,young, lovely nature, hot little body and worth every rupiah, 400K for short time but I liked her so slipped her another 100k. would have got her back but for wrong time of month beginning.

There is a big karaoke strip down the road from Pantai Gapura, like all port towns it can appear a little seedy but for me Makassar was just good fun. hotel pantai gapura was great.

Very friendly people. will be back.

I need info on transport options from Yogyakarta to Bali, I would like to fly to Yog from Singapore that is not a problem, however I am finding it very hard to find anything about getting onto Bali.

Are there Ferries or coaches? How long would it take?

Garuda is the friendliest option if you wish to avoid travel at either extreme of the day. They have a flight which goes at around 1.00pm
