In some cases the games can be worse if the Filipnas are better looking than average. In the USA better looking than average can simply mean skinny and having some "exotic" appeal. The same concept where fat old bald guys transform into handsome men in the Philippines applies to Filipinas in the US and thus they behave accordingly.

That is probably the reason why my gf is now my ex gf. If I ever have the (mis) fortune to settle down with another Filipina, I would NEVER bring her back to my own country. Some relationships that are exported to the man's home country do work out but I think the odds are generally stacked against a happy ever after ending.

Imagine you are on an island where all the women weigh three hundred pounds or more, so you pair up with a "slim" woman who only weighs 190 pounds. For those newbies who are planning to visit the Philippines soon I suggest that you prepare yourself to deal with a few irritating questions or statements that almost all filipinas seem to make.

The 3 major irritants for me (in order) are:

1. Do you mind if I ask you a question?

2. I don't know. It's up to you.

3. Did you eat your (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack) yet?

We have dealt with #3 ad nauseum on this site but it still aggravates and I treat it as a rhetorical question and never answer.

#2 is just their way of saying "I have absolutely no idea" but when they say it in reference to how much cash they expect from you they know exactly what they expect.

#1 just plain annoys me. I always answer "why?" It is unexpected, and throws them when they are expecting either a "Yes","No" or "Depends".

It is in fact fairly typical for Filipino students to read only when they have to. I was recently treated to tea in a coffee shop attached to the main library of one of the major universities in the country. The main activity in the shop was a circular counter on which students could log their laptops into some sort of internet connection. Were they there logging into the library's book catalog? Hell no, they were all logged onto Facebook, Twitter, etc. They don't read; it's a national tradition that has also spread to universities in many Western countries.

I suppose its a fad, but as one who suffered with braces it seems strange to me. That said, I suppose they don't have to go through the pain of having them tightened since they are just for show.
