Why do we all have to make issue with what some else does with his money. Let's talk about how we all enjoy spending our money. I think there are R75.00 experiences and R450.00 experiences. The important issues is sharing information. Some people have more money than others, or do not care about spending money. So money is not the issue to compete or criticize. However. I would spend that many reais. My Nov 2009 I made some rookie mistakes, but my Jan 2010 I will be wiser from what you guys share. But let's not be judgmental.

You guys did not even seem to read his entire sentence (where he mentioned "many drinks"). Drinks add up, at dinner, at clubs, at termas. And it seems they are only getting more expensive. I enjoy the termas if I drink less or not at all. I have never been a big drinker anyway. And I certainly enjoy it more when paying my bill on the way out. If you use the termas promotions you can save some coin too. To each his own.

And if you start talking about running around other parts of Rio to save money, you need to factor in what is the value of your time. Convenience has its own price. I value my time at a certain amount per hour as that is what I could make if I was using it for business. I am probably a bit different than most here in that regard as I am working when I am here. But I think it is good to think that way. That is why I stay in Centro for part of my visit and then near the beach for Friday and the weekend.

And good luck "pulling" a termas lady or a top lady from Help for a "full 24 hours" for R$450 so you can start "shooting air." Only if you have developed somewhat of a relationship and/or buy them meals and take them out. There is a cost there too. (Not sure I could personally stand to spend that much time with one lady unless she was bright and a good conversationalist too.)

I guess my point is everything has some cost associated with it. And if someone wants to spend their money on something it is his choice. Now that I am here much more often and for longer stays I am learning how to budget my activities and to find values. The biggest change has been the regular dating I have started to do in the town I have a home in.

I have not seen these on Sperto´s list. Only Apto 202 has been mentioned on YellowBlowFish and by Christopherd.

All three of them are small places, comparable to a floor in Buenos Aires 85. I liked Apto 701 best.

Entrance right next to 701. They aggressively try to lure customers away from App 701. Service is good nevertheless.

I rode it the first day. I was amazed that they actually had it running. Conventional wisdom was that the station would open, but the trains would come later. They had some glitches, like the maps not being updated, turnstiles not working that morning (so I Got a free ride!) and the trains were running slow but it was open.

The residents of Ipanema have mixed feelings. It is great for getting around, but it also makes it easy to get TO Ipanema. I think I detected a larger than usual beach crowd this weekend around Texeiro de Melo, maybe because of people riding the metro? People are worried it will change things and not for the better. We'll see.

But it is great for getting downtown.

I agree it was between 20 and 40 dollars. There was definitely a pro scene but mostly in places like Barbarella and Erótica. On the beach, Mabs was a big hangout and there were several other places as well. But the scale was totally different.

It's been a long tine but I do remember one data point where I met an incredible number in Erótica, home for the night then she went home to get clothes and hung around all that day until I had to catch a flight that night. Total GFE from Fortaleza. Her wildest dream was to get $100 which I didn't quite satisfy. As has
been said, cash was a problem. No ATMS, so you had to bring cash or travellers checks which were not good because they were exchanged at the official rate so you lost 40%. So you needed to bring cash and I always seemed to under estimate because you needed to pay everything in cash. If you put the hotel on a credit card, they would use the official rate and bump it up to their estimate of what the official rate would be when it settles. So you didn't pay with cc. The rates changed so fast I changed money twice a day, usually with the bellboy. (This is a composite of somewhat vague memories from the late 80s to early 90s.)

Anyway, I gave her all my remaining money which brought the whole thing to maybe $50. I'm pretty sure a programa with a Mabs girl in one of the short time places in Lido was $30 which included $10 for the hotel.

Those were the days. Sigh.

Thanks for the info. Can you give ratings for cabin, service, standard and WV ala Sperto? Or at least price?

I have been to Rio several times, but not very experienced with the Centro termas. I think they open ~noon; I have visited ~2pm and found them somewhat quiet and visited after 5pm to find it very crowded / hard to nail good chicas. Any views on what the best time is to visit? Also, I have tried 4x4 and Rosario and found especially 4x4 to have a great, large selection. Any other places worth noting? I'm not looking for budget places.

I know the topic is somewhat on the beaten path, but thought maybe a little bit of nuance that someone can help with.

Planning to visit mid-Jan and trying to get an idea of how the season is shaping up. Is it a strong season? Many gringos / europeans? Last year was great as the economy was down and if you were there, you could have your pick of chicas.

In my opinion is right after they open. Most of them open by 10:00am so, I usually am at hteir doors no later than 10:30 for some fun. This is where I take advantage and do my duplas and so on for a very decent price (Less than BR200). If you dig throught the forum, try the ones Rio Branco 156. That's good stuff right there. Lack of metro availability was my ONLY lament for staying in Ipanema in the past. Looks like where I'll be going residing my next trip.

This is my last post. I really just wanted to thank all the senior members here that supplied such great info that greatly assisted my mongering efforts.

My membership is up and I will not be renewing. I had an incredible week. I have been dating a beautiful young mulata lady in the town where I own a home in Brasil. I was dating others but stopped seeing them as I really enjoyed her company the most. Just a lovely young lady that is studying English, and focused on making a better life for herself. She is terrific.

At any rate, perhaps it is the whole New Year's vibe thing, but the other night I made her dinner and she starts asking about my business trips around Brasil, my trips to Sao Paulo and Rio. I am an honest and forthright person. I had told her upfront that I was really involved in some business projects that will require a great deal of my focus and was not looking for a committed relationship. So I decided to tell her about my mongering activities. I knew this might risk losing her but I really felt like talking about this as it was in the forefront of my mind. I guess I have been reflecting as part of the whole end of year self evaluation we all seem to do. To my great surprise she really was understanding and we even discussed the different attitudes/types of mongers. Truth is I have long been conflicted with some of the attitudes some guys have towards the working ladies. I have made that known here.

At any rate, she actually told me that she wanted to experiment with me. She has been bi-curious and wanted to experience a woman too. My stories of duplas really turned her on. So last night, we hooked up with another lady she knows and it was amazing. It was better than any dupla I ever paid for. She was so caring and excited and a real lady. It was a true mind-f. The last few months have been a blur here in Brasil. I just want to focus all my energies on my business, my Porto studies and experiencing everything in Brasil with her riding shotgun.

Again, I thank all those who were so supportive and provided great info. I tried to give back in my own limited way.

And to all the guys that do not feel that the ladies should be treated as true human beings I truly hope you can do some self-reflection. (What would your mammas think?)

And to those that could not take a joke, how about 5 slaps from 5 different hands (I think that was the threat.)
